Chapter 32 The First Battle with the Vampire

Chapter 32 The First Battle with the Vampires (Seeking Investment!)

No matter how skilled a vampire is in magic, one method they employ when facing an enemy is to overwhelm their opponent with their extraordinary speed and strength, and Barnabas was no exception. He vanished into the darkness in an instant, rushing towards Salomon with a chilling aura emanating from him.

Then came a dull thud, like the hissing sound of red-hot metal being plunged into cold water, as the vampire's sharp nails struck the shield constructed by the sorcerer, causing orange-red sparks to erupt on Salomon's chest.

The sparks illuminated the dark corridor for a fleeting moment before quickly extinguishing, the brief brightness allowing Salomon to see the vampire's pale face. But before Salomon could react, the vampire's claws slammed into the shield again, sparks erupting once more, forcing the arcane mage to stagger back two steps.

Salomon pulled his right leg back to regain his balance, and quickly raised the Ring of Raghadore above his head. Sparks flew from the shield again, and the violent blow, like that of an ancient battering ram, produced a deafening roar, causing the wooden floor beneath his feet to creak painfully.

The floor suddenly cracked, revealing a yellowed, sharp fracture and spikes, and Salomon's leg sank into the hollow floor.

He suddenly ducked and rolled forward, dodging the claw attack that came from above. Although he couldn't see all of Barnabas's movements in the darkness, his long-trained reflexes allowed him to catch the vampire's rapid and fierce attacks, which were like a storm. Although Barnabas was of extremely high rank, he had never received any training, and his attack direction was extremely easy to predict.

Salomon didn't even turn around before tossing the Ring of Laggardor behind him. He then quickly stood up, turned around abruptly, toes slightly turned inward, knees slightly bent, left hand palm up in front of his chest, right arm tilted to the lower left in a defensive stance. But there was no one in front of him. The Ring of Laggardor had only shattered the decorative porcelain at the end of the corridor; the vampire was nowhere to be seen.

He secretly became more vigilant, and at the same time quietly reached his right hand into his pocket, took out a small handful of dried carrots, stuffed them into his mouth as quickly as possible, chewed them hastily, and swallowed them.

This was his mistake, but he has now made up for it. The darkness before him is no longer an obstacle. He no longer has to rely on prediction to judge the direction of the attack, like a blind person. The magic of darkvision allows him to see everything within a range of nearly twenty meters in the dark.

His choice of this spell, rather than a wide-area spell like Burning Hand to force the vampire out, was for a reason—vampires are incredibly fast and could easily dodge the spell, while he only has one chance to cast the incantation. By the time Salomon casts the incantation again, the vampire's claws will likely have already slit his throat.

Not to mention that his current mage level is not high, and he doesn't have many offensive spells available. Even with other spells, such as Vishanti's positive energy spells, a hit is necessary before it's even possible to break through the defense. Under these circumstances, given the vampire's reaction time, Salomon has no confidence that he can hit Barnabas. Even if those spells do hit Barnabas, they might not inflict much damage.

Therefore, choosing spells to buff himself and adopting the same fighting style as other Kamar-Taj sorcerers is the most cost-effective approach. Until the Toril Crystal Wall spells he has learned develop sufficient combat power, Vishanti magic combined with transmutation and conjuration spells to enhance his melee abilities will be Salomon's primary means of attack.

Just seconds after casting the spell, Salomon heard rapid flapping of wings and a cacophony of footsteps coming from the corridor, as if a large group of creatures were approaching him.

He turned around again, but this time he only turned halfway, shoving an arm that reached out from the darkness with his right elbow.

He took a half-step forward with his right foot, following behind Barnabas' right foot, his left hand gripping the elbow of that arm, and his right hand pointing diagonally forward towards the vampire's eye.

Wing Chun, Biao Zhi.

Turning around was merely a ploy to lure the enemy into attacking. Salomon learned this from watching apprentices at Kamar-Taj practice Baguazhang. In his self-defense lessons, he had faced all sorts of martial arts styles and naturally learned a great deal of combat experience.

However, he doesn't have the immortality of a vampire. In this environment where he could be ambushed at any moment, close-quarters combat is the best option to avoid being scratched.

A life-or-death struggle is not training; Salomon held nothing back, unleashing a lightning-fast flick of his finger.

But his opponent was not an ordinary human, but an extremely fast vampire. Barnabas easily dodged the attack, which only passed by the vampire's ear.

The vampire opened its mouth to bite Salomon's palm, but the arcane mage clenched his right fist, and the semi-circular Ring of Raghadore suddenly lit up, blocking the vampire's sharp teeth.

Salomon released his left hand and took a half step forward with his left leg, dodging Barnabas's swung claws. Then, he swung his right hand outward forcefully and slammed it hard into the vampire's face.

Barnabas flew through the air and crashed into the glass window of the corridor.

Before the vampire could break through the window, Salomon was enveloped in a silver mist. He vanished from his spot and suddenly reappeared above the vampire's flight path.

The sorcerer stepped onto the magical disc that appeared out of thin air, and then punched downwards again, slamming the Ring of Raghadore down.

boom--! ! !

The sorcerer slammed the vampire heavily onto the ground, the dark wooden floorboards creaking and caved in, sending up a cloud of sawdust.

The Second Ring Spell System, the Mysterious Step.

Before the vampire could recover from the violent impact, Salomon's orange rings around his hands fully unfolded. He clenched his fists and struck Barnabas's face alternately with incredible speed, each blow sending the vampire's head slamming into the floor.

Thump-thump-thump-thump-thump-

Like the swift drumbeats of a festival echoing through the corridor, but there were no beautiful girls in yukatas, no noisy tourists, and no children running around. There were only two creatures standing in the dark corridor, one standing with a ferocious expression, and the other lying down, his life hanging in the balance.

In addition, there was blood constantly splattered on the broken ground and shattered teeth flying everywhere.

"Huff... Huff..." Salomon took a half step back, breathing heavily like a drowning man who had been rescued. His chest heaved rapidly, his blood-stained hands hung limply at his sides, and even the three Vishanti rings were covered in blood.

Now he only felt soreness in his arms. The series of movements from turning around to lure the enemy had all been completed in one go. Even in the self-defense classes at Kamar-Taj, he had never engaged in such intense hand-to-hand combat. Then he threw nearly fifty punches at a speed that was beyond his limits and invisible to the naked eye. Lactic acid filled almost every inch of the muscles in his arms.

In fact, he didn't have to do this at all. He could use the shield he got from Athena at will. Now, he just wanted to test what level his abilities were at.

He has now reached the conclusion that, with full force, he can completely deal with a young primordial vampire.

After catching his breath for a few seconds, he managed to raise his arms, then slowly opened them like flowers, palms facing out. Then, the wooden floor seemed to shatter like a mirror, and a sound like breaking glass echoed beneath Barnabas.

Salomon is not the Sorcerer Supreme. The Sorcerer Supreme can open the Mirror Dimension in an instant, while Salomon needs to chant spells and make gestures. Therefore, he needs to subdue the vampires first before he can imprison Barnabas.

As the cracks in the mirror grew larger, the unconscious vampire slowly sank. But before he could completely trap the vampire in the mirror dimension, the sound of flapping wings and rapid footsteps rang out again.

Salomon looked up and saw a swarm of rats and bats rushing in from the other end of the corridor. These disgusting little creatures almost flooded the corridor, sweeping over it like a tidal wave and reaching Salomon's feet. Salomon had to abandon his action and take a few steps back. A thin flame burst from between his palms, charring the rats and bats in front of him.

The flames also set fire to all the curtains in front of Salomon, and the firelight swept away all the darkness.

But these creatures did not attack Salomon; they flowed through the corridor like water, and the sorcerer was like an island on the water, with bats and rats all bypassing him. After these little things had completely disappeared at the end of the corridor, Salomon looked again and found that Barnabas, who had been lying on the ground, had vanished.

Instead, a woman stood there in a vintage light blue dress, the whalebone crinoline making her skirt appear quite wide, adorned with intricate lace. In the firelight that filled the corridor, Salomon could see her face, and behind her floated a ghost that looked exactly like her.

P.S.: I'm so hungry!

good afternoon.
