Chapter 826 Threats and Cooperation
In three minutes, Connor memorized everything that Robbie had written on the paper. After doing so, in front of Robbie, a black flame appeared on his finger and burned the portrait of Prince Boateng and the confidence that Robbie had given him to ashes.
Seeing that Connor was so cooperative, Robbie nodded slightly, then took out a bronze box from his spatial ring, handed it to Connor, and said, "Refine the contents of this box, removing any impurities, and we'll be even!"
Connor took the bronze box without saying a word, but his fingers tapped it lightly as if aimlessly. A second later, a look of surprise appeared in Connor's eyes. He looked up at Robley and said with a half-smile, "Mr. Robley, I really underestimated you. I didn't expect you could get your hands on this!"
"Can you do it?" Robbie ignored Connor's question and instead looked at Connor, asking in a deep voice:
"You should know very well that it's impossible to completely refine this stuff, removing 100% of the impurities. I can only remove up to 80% at most. But everyone has a share, so it's not unreasonable for me to take a third of it after I finish refining it, is it?" Connor said calmly, stroking the bronze box Robbie handed him.
Upon hearing Connor's words, Robbie thought for a moment and seemed to think that refining it to 80% purity would be enough for him, so he did not refuse Connor's request. Then, he flipped his hand and took out another bronze box from his spatial ring and threw it to Connor.
Taking the bronze box again, Connor briefly examined it with his mental energy. His eyes lit up, and he looked at Robley with interest before saying, "Mr. Robley, you actually have two of these. That's quite a surprise. Please be sure to pick up the package at this address in two weeks!"
After saying that, Connor turned and walked towards the door of the optician's shop. However, after taking only three steps, Connor suddenly stopped and said calmly with his back to Robley, "Mr. Robley, I am truly flattered by your trust in me..."
In response to Connor's words, Robbie took off his black-rimmed glasses, rubbing his nose wearily as he said emotionlessly, "Connor Ferguson, you're not the first alchemist I've consulted. I know better than you how difficult refining is. If I had any other choice, I wouldn't have come to you!"
"And another thing is, your surname is Ferguson. Connor, you should know very well what that means to me. If you mess with me, you can run away, but the Ferguson family can't. I won't care about the Church. In the Ninth Inning, I guarantee you'll regret everything you've done!"
Upon hearing Robbie's undisguised threat, Connor, with his back to Robbie, flashed a murderous glint in his eyes. Without saying anything more, he pushed open the door and left the Arshavin Glasses Shop.
Upon seeing Connor leave Robbie, he opened his eyes, opened the drawer of the glasses cabinet, and found a piece of paper with an address written on it: Villa No. 5, Parolo Community.
Upon seeing the address, Robbie's eyes flashed with a complex emotion. Yesterday, his eyeglasses shop had also received a customer who surprised him—Prince Boateng, the very person Connor was looking for!
Prince Boateng's purpose in approaching him was simple: to get him, the biggest intelligence broker in Frosinone and even the northeastern part of the Kaman Empire, to help him find Connor Ferguson's whereabouts. For this, Prince Boateng was willing to offer a benefit that Robbie found very tempting.
As Connor just said, Robbie's ability to make a fortune every year by purchasing and selling cultivation resources for the Boateng family in the Kaman Empire was entirely due to his friend Fabian Boateng.
Fabian Boateng's faction has always been at odds with the brothers Cabio and Prince within the Boateng family, which has led to the conflict between Prince Boateng and Robben and Ribery.
So Robbie was quite surprised that Prince Boateng would stoop so low as to ask him for help. However, after thinking about it carefully, he understood the hatred between Prince Boateng and Professor Reyes. Reyes was a second-level wizard, and Prince Boateng would never have the chance to take revenge on him in person. Therefore, if Prince Boateng wanted to hurt Reyes, killing Connor, who had just become a first-level wizard, was the best option for him.
Although he had a past grudge against Prince Boateng, Robbie readily agreed to his request because of the advance payment and promised benefits. He used his intelligence network in Frosinone to gather information about Connor. Prince Boateng also gave him the address "Villa No. 5, Parolo Community" so that Robbie could send him any news immediately.
When Robbie discovered Connor's arrival through the "mirror," he was overjoyed, thinking it was a windfall, a godsend. He planned to exchange a few perfunctory words with Connor and then immediately inform Prince Boateng. However, it now seemed that Robbie was destined to miss out on the benefits offered by Prince Boateng...
Thinking of this, a bitter smile appeared on Robelli's chubby face, and his gaze subconsciously shifted to the back of the shop, which was just a stone's throw away and separated by only a door.
To Robbie's utter surprise, Connor discovered the secret of the back room of his supposedly well-hidden Arshavin Optical Shop. This was something Robbie absolutely could not accept. Robbie originally wanted to silence Connor, but Connor had discovered all the security mechanisms in his optical shop. Without the advantage of location, it would be difficult for him to kill Connor.
Just when Robbie was in a dilemma, Connor's suggestion piqued his interest. He had had the contents of the bronze box for almost ten years and had consulted five alchemists, but none of them had been able to refine it successfully. This situation had left Robbie with a treasure he could not use.
Although he had never witnessed Connor's alchemy firsthand, Robbie knew that Connor was a disciple of Professor Reyes of the Secret Society. Furthermore, he had just witnessed Connor discover all the carefully laid traps in his shop without missing a single one. Therefore, Robbie had great confidence in Connor's alchemy skills and held high hopes for Connor's refining of that item.
