Stroking the antique ring on his hand, Connor immersed his mental energy into it. Inside this spatial ring, besides some of Connor's miscellaneous belongings, lay a dark blue, somewhat worn-out briefcase. This briefcase was the one Bispin had given Connor in the Secret Society's safe house.

Connor didn't know what kind of organization Reyes and Bispin belonged to, but it seemed that without anyone ever asking for his opinion, Connor Ferguson had automatically become a member of this organization!

The thought of this made Connor's face contort with rage. He loathed the feeling of having his fate controlled by others; his own destiny should always be in his own hands! Moreover, Connor had always been extremely cautious and careful when it came to his own life, yet this secret society had gone so far as to kill a bishop of the Storm Church in Rune, causing a huge uproar in the city. How audacious was that?

Hanging out with them is like walking on a knife's edge, risking your life.

Shaking his head and concealing the ferocity on his face, Connor sighed softly. The die was cast, and thinking about it now was pointless. The objective fact of becoming a member of the Secret Society would not change because of his own subjective will. Now, all he could do was take it one step at a time.

After returning to Green University in the evening, Connor immediately headed to Reyes' villa near the university. Although he didn't know what was in the briefcase Bispin had given him, Connor could tell from Bispin's serious attitude when he handed it to him that it must contain something extraordinary.

Driven by desire, Connor tried to examine the briefcase with the chip, but the chip only revealed a layer of blood-red patterns on the surface of the briefcase that was invisible to the naked eye. After careful consideration, Connor gave up on taking any further action against the briefcase for his own safety.

Since he had already decided to give up, Connor simply didn't want to keep this hot potato of a suitcase around anymore. He left the decision of whether the suitcase was good or bad to Reyes.

Upon arriving at the villa, before Connor could even knock, he received a telepathic message from Reyes: "Come directly to the study!"

"Mentor, this is what Bispin asked me to give you!" Connor walked unimpeded into the study and respectfully took the briefcase out of his spatial ring, handing it to Reyes, who was sitting behind the desk.

Reyes took the briefcase and ran his hand over its surface. As he did so, a strange, blood-red light immediately appeared on the surface, lasting for a full half minute before gradually fading. Reyes nodded in satisfaction, looking at Connor with a smile, and said, "I imagine Bispin, that big mouth, has already revealed some things about the Secret Society to you, but now I should formally introduce the Secret Society to you. After all, whether you want to join or not, you are now a member."

"The Secret Society is a dark wizarding organization, and Connor, your superior is undoubtedly me!" Reyes said, pointing to himself.

Connor stared intently at Professor Reyes. After he finished speaking, saying, "Your superior is me," he fell silent. A strange feeling welled up inside him. After a moment's hesitation, he asked, "Professor, are you finished with your introduction?"

"That's right! Very concise, isn't it!" Reyes nodded, seemingly very satisfied with his introduction.

Having received a positive reply from Reyes, Connor remained silent, but the strange feeling in his heart grew stronger. He had originally thought that Reyes would talk to him about some organization's orders and how to carry them out without fail, or some other nonsense.

Seemingly sensing Connor's question, Reyes smiled and shook his head, saying, "Connor, you are my disciple. From the beginning, some of the Secret Society's rules and regulations did not apply to you. You just need to remember not to betray me!"

Upon hearing this, Connor's expression hardened. He immediately stood at attention, bowed deeply to Reyes, and said solemnly, "I will forever remember my mentor's great kindness. How could I dare to be ungrateful?"

"Your mentor believes in you!" Reyes nodded with a smile, and in front of Connor, he opened his briefcase, took out a small cloth bag, and handed it to Connor.

"This is... a magic stone?" Taking the small bag and sensing the pure energy fluctuations of the black crystal inside, Connor exclaimed incredulously.

Reyes pointed to the small bag and gave an affirmative answer: "Low-grade magic stones, suitable for apprentice-level wizards!"

Looking at the dozen or so black crystals in the bag, Connor sincerely said to Reyes, "Thank you for your guidance, mentor!"

"What's this..." Reyes smiled and waved his hand. After a moment's thought, he opened the first drawer of his desk, took out a crystal ball, and placed it in front of Connor.

A ripple spread through the crystal ball, and the face of a petite and lovely girl slowly emerged.

Upon seeing the familiar face of the girl that appeared in the crystal ball, Connor exclaimed in surprise, "Valga?"

Reyes, with a playful smile, said leisurely, "Connor, your little sweetheart... lately, quite a few people have been looking for her and her grandmother..."

Hearing Reyes's words, Connor was immediately startled. Forgetting to refute Reyes's claim that his relationship with Varga was completely innocent, he quickly said, "Professor, do you mean someone is trying to cause trouble for Varga and her grandmother?"

"Your little lover and her grandmother were originally from a family of sorcerers skilled in potion-making within the Earth God Cult. However, internal power struggles within the family led to a bloody conflict, resulting in the deaths of Varga's parents. Varga's grandmother then took Varga and fled to Rune, where they have lived in anonymity ever since!"

"According to information obtained by the Secret Society, Varga's grandmother, Mary, copied all of her family's potion recipes before fleeing. Therefore, many wizarding organizations, including the Church of the Spirits and the Secret Order, are searching for them. About a week ago, Mary's whereabouts were revealed. If our Secret Society hadn't raided the Storm Church's seventh secret warehouse, causing a city-wide search, I believe the old woman and the young girl would already be prisoners!" Reyes said calmly.

The "Cult of the Earth God" obtained information about Varga's background from Reyes, which greatly shocked Connor. When he met Varga's grandmother, Mary, Connor had a premonition that Mary was also a witch. Otherwise, how could an ordinary old woman remove the cult's anti-magic bullet from her chest and heal her gunshot wound?
