Chapter 711 Martina's Answer (Updated at midnight - Part 1)

"Martina didn't die?" Connor frowned in surprise upon hearing that Martina had also made a deal with Margaret.

If he remembered correctly, on the beach that day, Martina's green arrow failed to kill old Victor. Seeing the situation was dire, he abandoned Martina and fled alone. Although Martina reacted quickly and ran, she was injured and her speed was slow. She was struck by old Victor's golden slash and collapsed to the ground, lifeless.

In Connor's eyes, Martina, who was seriously injured at that time, should have been dead after taking a golden light slash from old Victor. However, judging from Margaret's words, he seemed to have underestimated Martina's abilities. Not only did Martina not die at the hands of old Victor, but she even ran into Margaret!

Old Victor's demise was also in Martina's best interest. With Old Victor dead, Reyes's most capable and loyal butler was gone, and the risk of Martina being found by the secret society in the chaotic New World was much lower!

"There are some things about Varga!" After hesitating for a moment, Margaret told Connor the truth. After speaking, Margaret took out an oil painting from her spatial ring and handed it to Connor.

Looking at the portrait of Varga in the oil painting, Connor asked Margaret with some surprise, "Did Martina give this to you?"

Upon hearing this, Margaret nodded slightly, a little embarrassed, and said, "That's right, Martina gave it to me!"

When Varga mentioned "his mentor," Connor sighed inwardly. He knew that Margaret had eventually learned this secret from Martina. When Margaret had just woken up, her words, "I'm afraid of being retaliated against by your secret society and your mentor!" had truly shocked Connor as if he had been struck by lightning.

Professor Reyes, the number two figure in the Secret Society, is Connor's mentor. This is a very big secret of Connor's, and even within the Secret Society, not many people know about it. Only a handful of people, such as old Victor, Martina, and Varga, know about it.

Having spent so much time with Margaret, Connor hadn't mentioned a single word about this matter to her! Connor wanted to keep it a secret. He knew very well that before he became a formal wizard and had the ability to protect himself, the fewer people who knew that Reyes was his mentor, the better. Connor didn't know about Reyes' other enemies, but he was well aware that if the Church of Storms found out he was Reyes' student, even the formal wizards of the church would probably come out to hunt him down!

Seeing Connor remain silent, Margaret, assuming he didn't want to answer the question, naturally understood the far-reaching implications of his question and fully complied with Connor's choice. She proactively tried to change the subject, saying, "Martina also told me that before I met her, she made a deal with you, Connor. She told you some things, and you let him go..."

"Professor, the second-in-command of the secret society in your eyes, is my mentor. The old Victor you want to kill is his butler. I'm sorry, Margaret, that's all I can tell you!" Just as Margaret was about to speak, Connor suddenly broke the silence, speaking in a low voice:

Connor's sudden admission surprised Margaret. She also told me to tell you, so you can rest assured, that although she has escaped, she will never tell anyone about your secret of being the professor's student!"

"Also, Martina said that although your deal with her wasn't cancelled because of old Victor's interference, she has since left Rune. So she asked me to pass on her answer to you regarding the third matter, to complete your deal. Before passing it on to you, she told me to make sure that the answer to this third matter is also her guess based on the information she has, and it's not guaranteed to be correct. Connor, you can choose to believe it or not; she won't force you!"

Upon hearing Varga's words, Connor was stunned. If he remembered correctly, the third thing he had negotiated with Martina was what tricks Reyes had used in teaching him the "Abyss Secrets"!
