Chapter 677 Going to Sea

Chapter 677 Going to Sea

Upon discovering this, Connor was overjoyed and wanted to leave the apartment building immediately. However, the nearly forty wizards lying in ambush at Semedo Mansion had not left. Even with his immense courage, Connor dared not make any rash moves. After waiting for about an hour, as dawn broke, Connor saw old Victor with a dark face walk out of Semedo Mansion, get into a carriage, and drive away.

After old Victor left, Roberto and his five intermediate wizard apprentices, as well as the church arbitrators, all left one after another. Only then did Connor feel relieved and quietly retreat from the apartment building, preparing to catch up with Martina. Unexpectedly, he encountered such a "duty-abiding" J-man. With no other choice, Connor had to resort to some tricks.

"Steve, how much do you and your boat charge for a single sea voyage?" In a brick house in the fishing village of Alavés, Martina looked at the tall, dark-skinned man in front of her and said calmly.

Ten minutes earlier, as Martina had hoped, the men of Alavés returned to the fishing village with their fishing boats laden with catch. Overjoyed, Martina decisively found the home of Steve, the fisherman in the village who was most skilled at sailing fishing boats. She had inquired about his home and found the fisherman who had just returned home.

When the woman who had suddenly barged into his home asked him how much it cost to go out to sea, the fisherman Steve was taken aback, his slightly weary face blank. He then looked at the mysterious woman, whose face and figure were concealed by a wide gray robe and a heavy veil, with great curiosity. Although he couldn't see what she looked like, her cold voice told him that she was a stunning beauty, more beautiful than any woman he had seen in his more than twenty years of life!

"Who are you? What are you doing out to sea?" After hesitating for a moment, Steve asked the mysterious woman who had suddenly appeared:

Upon hearing Steve's question, Martina frowned slightly, a hint of impatience in her expression. She had no interest in answering a mortal's question. If it weren't for the fact that the fishing boats in the village were so old and operated so differently from the ones she used to use, she wouldn't need a mortal's help at all.

Martina flipped her hand, tossing a five-gold pound note to Steve. Then she said to him, "This is enough for you to work for several months. I'll give you another five gold pounds after I get you to your destination. So now get dressed, pack your things, and come with me!"

Looking at the five gold pounds the mysterious woman had thrown at him, Steve's face fell. The woman was absolutely right. He only earned one gold pound and a few pence a month fishing. The five gold pounds he had was enough for him to earn for three months, not to mention the five gold pounds the woman had promised after the deal was done. However, the woman's words still made the honest Steve feel a sense of danger.

"Madam, I can't take you with me unless you tell me who you are and where you're going at sea. The Imperial Constitution stipulates that if I send you out to sea without permission, it's considered smuggling, and I'll go to jail!" Despite the immense temptation of the money in his hands, Steve resisted the lure when he thought of the rumored, cold, and terrifying Rune Prison. He made a difficult decision and said to Martina with a sincere expression:

Upon seeing that this lowly fisherman had actually refused her request, a cold glint flashed in Martina's eyes beneath her veil. If it weren't for the side effects of the De Rong potion, which caused her excruciating pain every time she used her magic, she would have truly made this lowly fisherman feel some of the wrath of a wizard.

Taking a deep breath, Martina suppressed her anger, then took out another five-pound note and threw it to Steve. In an unquestionable tone, she said, "Now, grab your things and come with me!"

Looking at the second five-gold pound note thrown into his hand, the honest and simple-minded Steve felt no surprise, but rather a chilling coldness. Although he was just a fisherman, he wasn't a fool. A man who hid his face, unwilling to let others see it, was offering him ten gold pounds to sail a boat when he could easily buy a ticket for three shillings—this was undeniably suspicious…

However, just as Steve was somewhat at a loss and didn't know what to do, Martina's patience had been completely exhausted. Without hesitation, Martina took out a very small and exquisite revolver from her spatial ring.

Just as Steve lowered his head, gritted his teeth, and prepared to refuse Martina and the ten gold pounds, a gunshot rang in his ear. After the gunshot, Steve felt a burning pain on the left side of his face. Steve subconsciously wiped it with his hand and saw that his hand was covered in bright red blood. When he looked up, he saw that the mysterious woman was holding a revolver and aiming it at his head.

As an ordinary, honest fisherman, Steve had never seen such a sight before. His seemingly muscular and strong thighs suddenly went limp, and he collapsed to his knees in front of Martina.

"Don't kill me...don't kill me! I'll take you out to sea!" Faced with the choice between instant death from a blown-up head and Rune Prison, Steve didn't hesitate and decisively chose the latter. He hurriedly and fearfully begged Martina for mercy. Steve seemed to remember something, and immediately held up the two five-gold banknotes Martina had just thrown at him above his head, pleading with her, "I don't want your money. I'll take you wherever you want...just don't kill me!"

Seeing Steve's cowardly, defiant attitude, Martina's eyes flashed with disdain. Then, glancing at the two five-pound notes already marked by Steve, her disdain turned to disgust. She coldly said, "Put the money back in your wallet, then take your tools and come with me to sea. If you obediently do as I say, not only will I not kill you, but I'll also give you more money!"

Upon hearing Martina's words, Steve, who was kneeling on the ground trembling with fear, felt a little relieved. He then nodded frantically under Martina's gaze, indicating that he would definitely obey.
