Chapter 626 Creating Chaos
Chapter 626 Creating Chaos
Looking at the clock with the minute hand pointing to seven, and then glancing at the noisy crowd around the waiting room and the deserted train tracks outside, Tusam shook his head helplessly. He then leaned back in his chair, closed his eyes, and waited for the train to arrive.
Tusam knew that this situation likely meant that the train he wanted to take to Garotenia was delayed again. The train was scheduled to arrive in Kevin Town at 8:30, but there were too many things that could affect its arrival time while it was on the tracks. In fact, in this era, only a small percentage of trains arrived at their stations on time. In most cases, trains would arrive a little late.
Looking at Tusam, who was sitting in a chair with his face hidden by a top hat and his eyes closed, Connor, dressed as a red-haired young man, was sitting in a seat ten meters behind Tusam in the waiting hall. A look of doubt appeared in Connor's eyes.
The fact that Tusam appeared alone was quite unexpected for Connor. This made Connor, who had initially thought Varga's life was safe, tense up again. He didn't know if Tusam's solo appearance meant he hadn't captured Varga at all, or if he had already gotten what he wanted from her and had killed the useless Varga...
The train delay has somewhat disrupted Connor's plans. Although he could have attacked Tusam the moment he spotted him outside the train station, he has held back until now, even following him into the waiting room, simply because there are too many ordinary people around.
In any town within the Kaman Empire, the train station is always the most crowded place. In the waiting room where Connor and Tusam are currently, there are at least two hundred ordinary people. With so many ordinary people here, it's obvious that if Connor were to attack Tusam, he would be completely exposed, because he couldn't possibly kill all two hundred of them to silence them…
So Connor needed to disguise himself. He needed to make it all look like an ordinary, unexpected event, with nothing to do with the supernatural, so as not to attract the attention of those with ulterior motives and reduce the risk of exposure. Connor's original plan was to pretend to be a gunman and shoot at the train when the train from Rune arrived at the station and passengers started checking their tickets, creating chaos.
This would force the train, which was originally scheduled to travel from Rune to Garotenia, to stop in Kevin Town. Tusam's escape plan would undoubtedly be completely ruined, forcing him to leave Kevin Town. Because of the shooting incident at the train station, the Imperial police would immediately cordon off the scene and investigate the people present. Tusam, whose identity could not withstand scrutiny, would have no choice but to leave if he did not want to confront the police head-on.
Tusam was separated from Kevin after leaving the town, which gave Connor the opportunity to kill him...
Connor's plan was meticulously crafted, but even the best plans can't keep up with changes. Time ticked by, and the minute hand on the clock on the waiting room wall moved from seven to twelve, but the train was still nowhere to be seen. It was a full half hour late, and the train still hadn't appeared. This caused some commotion among the passengers who had initially been relatively calm about the delay, and the atmosphere began to become impatient.
This unexpected situation made Connor, who was about to take action, sense something unusual. The train that Tusam was going to take was from Rune. Rune is only fifty kilometers away from Kevin Town, which is not very far. Moreover, it was morning, which is not a busy time for railway transportation. There seemed to be no reason for the train that Tusam was going to take to be delayed for such a long time!
The train was more than half an hour late, and Connor wasn't the only one who sensed something was wrong. Under Connor's gaze, Tusam, who had been sitting quietly in his chair, also kept glancing at the large clock on the wall, seemingly beginning to wonder what was going on!
Tusam's suspicion was the final push that made Connor make a decision. He decided not to wait for the train to arrive and to create chaos now to get the police to seal off the area!
Having made the decision, Connor did not hesitate and immediately pulled out a revolver from his spatial ring, pointed the muzzle in the air, and fired repeatedly!
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
Although the waiting hall was noisy, the muffled gunshot of the revolver was clearly heard by every passenger in the hall. Realizing the danger, the passengers panicked and the entire waiting hall was thrown into chaos as everyone scattered like birds and beasts toward the exit.
"Help! Help me!"
"Murder... Don't kill me..."
"Get out of my way! Murder... Get out of my way!"
Watching the passengers in the waiting hall panic and rush out, Connor, the instigator of it all, nodded in satisfaction. However, to amplify the panic and achieve his desired effect, Connor opened his mouth and, in a magically altered hoarse voice, snarled viciously, "Hehehehe... I'm going to kill you all!"
To match his harsh words, Connor pointed the gun in the air and fired all three remaining bullets from his revolver.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
Although no one was injured or killed by Connor's shooting, how many people can remain rational and clear-headed when their lives are threatened? Out of fear of death, everyone in the waiting room rushed out quickly.
Just then, Connor sensed a hidden gaze secretly observing him from among the crowd fleeing the waiting room. Without even looking, Connor knew who that gaze belonged to. An ordinary person wouldn't think much of it, but Tusam had surely seen his every move. However, this was an open scheme; even if Tusam knew he was behind it, what could he do? He could only do as Connor planned: leave Kevin Town and avoid the police's questioning.
Ignoring Tusam's gaze, Connor, having done all this, smashed the glass window of the waiting room hall under Tusam's watchful eye, then strode away across the glass, leaving the train station waiting room hall in a mess!
