Chapter 624 Tusam's Escape Plan

"May I leave now?"

Standing up from the bushes, Tusam spoke calmly to Martina:

Although Tusam's question was simple, Martina understood its deeper meaning perfectly. She gave Tusam a long look and asked again, "Where are you going?"

"Kevin's Town!"

Meeting Martina's gaze, Tusam said without hesitation:

Tusam's answer didn't seem to satisfy Martina. She frowned slightly and said to Tusam, "Kevin Town is only fifty kilometers from Rune, which is far too close. Forgive my bluntness, but given your current condition and Old Victor's pursuit, it's not a good place for you!"

"I know! But I have things to do there, and there's a train to Garotenia at 9:30 a.m. I'll get on that train and leave Rune forever, disappear forever!" The reason Tusam is now insisting on going to Kevin Town, besides the fact that there's a train there that he can use to escape, is also because of his backup plan!

In addition to personally capturing Varga himself, he also arranged for his two remaining subordinates, Charles and Matthews, to search Varga's residence in the Verona community. Hearing the young man's question, the proprietress immediately snapped out of her daze and quickly opened the tavern door for him, saying, "We're open! We're open! Please come in, sir!"

Connor entered the pub, sat down by the window, waved to the proprietress who was about to give him a menu, and said, "Two whole wheat breads, a fresh wheat beer, and a grilled sausage! That's all!"

Upon hearing the order from the red-haired young man, the proprietress nodded and then went to the kitchen to prepare it.

As the landlady left, Connor's gaze fell upon the train station outside the window. Initially, when Matthews told him that Tusam and his meeting place was in Kevin, Connor hadn't realized why Tusam would choose this location. However, an hour earlier, after arriving in Kevin and seeing the train tracks and hearing the whistles of passing trains, Connor understood Tusam's plan.

Tusam is running away!

In this era, traveling by train was obviously the most convenient and fastest option. It only took a few days and nights to travel from the western part of the empire to the eastern part. Realizing this, Connor became even more convinced that the disappearance of Varga was caused by Tusam!

Why did Tusam run away? Clearly, he did something that led the Secret Society to want to kill him, forcing him to flee. Considering the current situation, the truth is likely that Tusam, behind the Secret Society's back, approached Varga, wanting to obtain the Purifying Potion from her. This led to Varga's disappearance, and Tusam thus angered the Secret Society, ending up being hunted down.

Connor wasn't primarily concerned about whether Tusam was going to run away; his biggest concern was what had happened to Varga. Had Varga ended up in Tusam's hands?

"Sir, your food is ready!" Connor didn't have to wait long before the proprietress placed a tray with bread, sausages, and beer on the table in front of him.

Connor glanced at the food in front of him and nodded slightly. Although he didn't know how it would taste, it looked clean enough.

"How much?" Connor asked.

"Thank you for your patronage, that'll be ten pence in total!" the proprietress said with a smile.

Upon hearing the price of ten pence, Connor took out a one-shilling note from his wallet and handed it over. The food he ordered was all very ordinary. Although ten pence was about two pence more expensive than the prices in downtown Loen, it was still acceptable considering that this place was opposite the train station.

After receiving his two pence in change from the proprietress, Connor focused on the food in front of him. Before coming to this pub, Connor had already sneaked into the Kevin train station across the street and checked his schedule for the day.
