Chapter 501 Drug Testing

Chapter 501 Drug Testing

Upon hearing Connor's words, a look of confusion reappeared in Varga's beautiful eyes. After pondering for a moment, she asked Connor, "Connor, do you mean there's something wrong with this book?"

"No, Varga, you're a pharmacist, far superior to me in the field. Whether the texts are problematic is for you to judge; I'm just telling you what I've observed." Connor shrugged at Varga and smiled.

Judging solely from the appearance of the book, Connor didn't see anything wrong with it except for the tear marks. Connor wasn't a god, so he couldn't discern the purpose or reason for the forgery from the tear marks alone.

Varga nodded upon hearing this, but judging from her thoughtful gaze, she seemed to still be pondering Connor's words.

Refocusing his attention on the flight potion itself, Connor's eyes were filled with longing and curiosity. After a moment's hesitation, he turned to Varga and asked, "Varga, may I try this potion?"

"Huh?" Hearing Connor's question, Varga snapped out of her thoughts, a hint of hesitation appearing on her pretty face. It seemed she wasn't too keen on letting Connor try the flight potion.

Seeing the hesitation and struggle on Varga's pretty face, Connor became somewhat puzzled. Varga had always been open with him, just like with that book, "Selected Works of Pandev Pharmacology," such a precious book, which Varga lent him to read without hesitation. In addition, this bottle of flight potion was given to him by Varga herself. If she didn't want to give it to him, Varga shouldn't have shown it to him. Could it be that Varga had some unspeakable secret?

"Varga, is something wrong?" Connor asked with concern, seeing that Varga remained silent and looked troubled.

Upon hearing Connor's question again, Varga finally made her decision. She organized her thoughts, "Connor, could you give me some time—two months, no! One month! I'll prepare a new potion for you!"

Seeing the pleading look on Varga's face, Connor glanced at the pink Pandev flight potion in his hand. Connor seemed to realize something. He pondered for a moment, then said nothing, returning the potion and "Selected Works of Pandev Pharmacology" to Varga at the same time.

Seeing that Connor seemed a little angry, Varga became anxious and said with a somewhat aggrieved tone, "Connor, let me tell you, the Pandev flight potion is a potion from the Byzantine era, hundreds or even thousands of years ago. Such a long time is enough to change many things. The Pandev flight potion was suitable for Byzantine wizards at that time, but it may not necessarily be suitable for modern wizards. So although I made the potion according to the prescription, the flight potion may not necessarily work. Therefore, I plan to test the potion and make sure there are no problems before giving it to you."

Upon hearing Varga's explanation, Connor suddenly realized that he had misunderstood Varga. He awkwardly scratched his head, chuckled, and then took Varga's small hand, wanting to pull her back into his arms. Varga glared at Connor a few times, then pushed him away playfully before finally giving in to his wish.

After calming Varga down, Connor, who was very interested in the flight potion, continued, "Varga, how do you plan to test this flight potion? Do you need my help?"

"I tested the drug on mice before. I diluted the flight potion tenfold and twentyfold, and then fed it to the mice. But perhaps the potion itself was too potent, or perhaps the mice were too fragile and lacked magical power to withstand and digest the potion's immense energy. In short, the experiment failed. Whether diluted tenfold or twentyfold, the mice exploded and died after taking the potion!" Varga shook her head and said with a bitter expression.

"Next, I plan to go to the black market or an underground auction, or a wizard's exchange meeting, to buy two magical beasts, and then use them to test the medicine to see if I can complete the experiment," Varga said somewhat uncertainly.

Upon hearing Varga's plan, Connor's brow furrowed subconsciously. He was fairly familiar with Rune's black market auctions and wizard exchange organizations; the probability of encountering magical beasts wasn't nonexistent, but it was extremely low. Even combining several channels and spending several months, it was still uncertain whether they would find a magical beast. However, Connor himself had a special channel…

"Valga, leave the finding of the magical beast to me. You focus your energy on the potions; I'll handle everything else!" After a moment's thought, Connor said earnestly to Valga. Margaret's Mallorca ring had been damaged in her battle with Martina, and Connor had already promised Margaret he would repair it. This was a good opportunity to have Margaret help him find the magical beast. Margaret was a member of the church, and she could obtain things that were difficult to acquire in secret.

"Connor, you're not planning to go to the Regilon Forest to catch magical beasts, are you?" Varga glanced at Connor with some concern and hesitated before asking him.

Varga's question immediately made Connor chuckle. The Regilon Forest is a primeval jungle about 800 kilometers from the city of Rune. Monsters were indeed seen there a hundred years ago, but they disappeared after the White Storm Church organized a raid more than 60 years ago. However, there are rumors on the black market that the monsters there have resurfaced and reappeared, but the truth of this news has not yet been confirmed.

"Don't worry, I have my own very reliable channels!" Connor gently stroked Varga's pert nose, and to avoid making Varga worry, he gave her a little information.

Hearing Connor's very confident tone, Varga nodded with some doubt, choosing to believe Connor.

After a whole night of fuss, the misunderstanding was cleared up and everything was discussed. Before it was fully light, Varga reluctantly kissed Connor goodbye and left the Ferguson Apartments at 16 Rand Street.

A few hours later, as dawn broke, Connor was preparing to go out and meet Margaret to discuss repairing the Mallorca Ring and finding the monster, when a postman arrived at Connor's apartment on his bicycle and dropped a letter into the mailbox.
