Chapter 489 Taking Action

Chapter 489 Taking Action (1)

The next morning, Connor and Martina left the villa early and went to the Zaka textile factory, their ambush site for the day. Emerson did not go with them but left the textile factory alone. Emerson did not tell Connor what he was doing.

Entering the factory where the magic array was set up, Connor narrowed his eyes and immediately noticed that the location where he had set up the array and buried the metal body yesterday was now completely disguised in a very realistic way. If he hadn't set up the magic array and buried the metal body himself, even with Connor's powerful mental strength, it would have been difficult for him to find any clues.

Connor was indifferent to the situation, but given Martina's presence, he appropriately expressed his approval of Emerson's work, clapping his hands in praise: "Having Mr. Emerson do the disguise work was truly the right decision. If I were to do it myself, I definitely couldn't have done it this well!"

"Are you still planning to hide your real name from Emerson?" Martina didn't pick up where Connor left off, but instead changed the subject and asked:

"What, do I still have a chance to cooperate with him?" Although he sneered inwardly, Connor turned to Martina and asked, seemingly with great interest:

Martina brushed a stray strand of hair from her forehead and said expressionlessly, "Emerson was transferred from the Hoy Continent. After this operation, there will be an evaluation before a decision is made on whether Emerson returns to the Hoy Continent or stays in Rune!"

"What does it have to do with me?" Connor shrugged and asked with a snort.

"I heard that Varga was your classmate at Green University?" Martina didn't answer Connor's question directly, but instead gave Connor a deep look before asking a question that surprised him greatly.

"You know Varga?" Upon hearing Martina mention Varga's name, Connor's eyes narrowed immediately, then he casually asked Martina:

"If everything goes smoothly after the operation, Connor, you'll be free. At that time, you might want to go find Varga!" A meaningful smile appeared on Martina's usually cold face, one that Connor found quite enigmatic. After the smile faded, Martina seemed to remember something and said softly to Connor, "You probably guessed Emerson's identity after your encounter with him yesterday. He's an assassin, so he's not as kind as he seems. His specialty is using underhanded tactics..."

After saying that, Martina didn't even look at Connor to see if he had understood what she said. She turned around and walked out of the factory, leaving Connor alone in the empty factory.

Watching Martina's graceful figure disappear into the distance, Connor's eyes showed a hint of doubt. He could completely interpret Martina's words as her trying to win him over. But why would Martina do that? And what was her purpose in mentioning Varga?

Standing there for several minutes, Connor still couldn't figure out why Martina did what she did. After a moment, a glint of light flashed in Connor's eyes. Since he couldn't figure it out, he might as well stop thinking about it. In any case, in a moment, with his defection, Martina and Emerson would most likely fall into his hands. He couldn't figure it out now, but when the time came, he could use his Soul-Capturing Technique on Martina to see what kind of scheme she was up to!

An hour later, Martina returned to the factory, this time with a very serious expression. Upon seeing Connor, she said directly, "The operation has begun. Margaret is expected to arrive in ten minutes!"

Connor nodded seriously to Martina, then reappeared in a flash, now on the roof beam of the factory. This was the hiding place Connor had prepared for himself when setting up the formation. Seeing Connor hiding on the roof beam, Martina also retreated into her prepared hiding place, not to be outdone.

Martina said it would be ten minutes, but only five minutes passed before Margaret's familiar aura appeared in Connor's mental perception. However, to Connor's surprise, while the target, Margaret, appeared, the assassin Emerson did not.

Connor frowned slightly, a vague unease creeping into his heart. Emerson hadn't appeared yet, leaving only two possibilities: either he hadn't arrived yet, or he had, but Connor's mental energy hadn't detected him. Today was the agreed-upon deadline for the operation, so the possibility of Emerson not coming was small. However, the second possibility was equally unlikely. Based on Connor's understanding of Emerson over the past few days, while his stealth abilities were decent for an assassin, they were completely inadequate against him. Under normal circumstances, Emerson shouldn't be able to escape his mental detection, unless Emerson's stealth abilities had significantly improved in the past few hours…

As Connor pondered Emerson's situation, Margaret drew ever closer, coming within a few hundred meters of the factory where Connor and Martina were lying in ambush. Judging from her aura, just as Martina had said, Margaret was now alone; the Arbitrator squad that Edel had assigned to her had completely vanished.

Connor's anxiety grew as he couldn't detect Emerson's presence. Taking a deep breath, he silently reminded himself, "Emerson has definitely arrived!"

"boom!"

A massive, deep blue ice blade shattered the metal gate of the abandoned factory where Connor and Martina were lying in ambush. The next second, Margaret, wearing a purple veil and holding the second-tier enchanted weapon wheel that Connor had once seen, cautiously walked in through the door.

Seeing Margaret just enter the room, Connor suddenly had a flash of inspiration and came up with a plan. He secretly released a fierce aura, and the previously empty and deserted abandoned factory suddenly felt a powerful and fierce aura. Although Connor had already told her that there was an ambush here, Margaret still subconsciously made a choice. As soon as she entered the room, she immediately tried to escape from the factory.

Just as Connor expected, as soon as Margaret made a move, a gray figure suddenly appeared from behind a thick pillar in the factory, blocking Margaret's escape.
