Chapter 480 Threats and Schemes

Chapter 480 Threats and Schemes

"Whether Margaret is a member of the Church of Storms or not is not important. What's important is that you know this won't affect you." Martina seemed to have anticipated Connor's question and answered it without hesitation.

"How can you guarantee that this won't involve me?" Connor frowned and continued to press.

"In fact, Connor, you now have two options. The first is to abandon this operation and go back to your apartment, but the plan you saw will become a reality. The second is to choose to trust the Secret Society and continue the operation. Connor Ferguson, you still have the right to choose." Martina made no attempt to hide her threat to Connor; in fact, her eyes even held a hint of vengeful pleasure.

A cold smile crept across Connor's face, but outwardly he feigned hesitation before gritting his teeth and saying to Martina, "You know my advisor is a professor. If you dare to scheme against me behind my back, my advisor won't let you get away with it!"

"Don't worry! Even if the operation fails, Connor, your safety will be perfectly guaranteed!" A fleeting hint of disdain flashed in Martina's eyes, then she seemed to be reassuring Connor:

"Who participated in this operation?" Reassured by Martina's words, Connor seemed much more at ease. He hesitated for a moment before asking Martina:

"Paredes is in charge of monitoring Margaret. Besides you and me, another skilled high-level wizard apprentice is also involved in the operation. He's gone to scout the area, and you'll see him tonight!" Martina answered Connor's question.

Connor narrowed his eyes and silently calculated in his mind, "If what Martina said is true, then three high-level wizard apprentices are going to deal with Margaret at the same time. Since the Odin Blood Pool incident in the underground palace, Margaret's strength should have increased a lot. However, Martina has a second-tier combined enchanted item. And the high-level wizard apprentice that Martina mentioned who went to survey the environment, since Martina described him as having good strength, means that this guy who has not yet shown up is no less powerful than Martina."

"In a one-on-one situation, given Margaret's strength, Connor believes she can defeat Martina. However, if Martina and that yet-to-be-revealed high-level wizard apprentice team up against Margaret, Connor thinks Margaret will be defeated but will still survive. But without my presence, if the Secret Society replaces Martina and that yet-to-be-revealed high-level wizard apprentice with someone else, and the three of them are of equal strength, Margaret's death is highly probable. Therefore, the biggest variable in the Secret Society's operation against Margaret lies with me. If Connor betrays them at a crucial moment, then Martina, who didn't expect me to turn against her, and this yet-to-be-revealed guy will be in danger!"

Thinking of this, Connor's mind began to stir. He subconsciously looked up at Martina beside him, and his eyes met Martina's. The eye contact calmed Connor down.

Connor knew that if he and Margaret meticulously planned and coordinated from the inside, Martina and the other high-ranking wizard apprentice would most likely be killed by him. However, if Connor did do that, he would have to immediately turn on old Victor and kill him. Otherwise, that old fox Victor would definitely suspect that he was behind it all, and then he would definitely turn against him! Connor was still looking for a way to kill old Victor and clean up the mess. If he rashly fought old Victor before this problem was resolved, even if he managed to kill him by chance, he would be summoned by Reyes. If that happened, everything would be meaningless.

After thinking everything through, Connor nodded to Martina and said, "Rune is still within the traditional sphere of influence of the Storm Church. The Church has considerable strength here. We must strike decisively and eliminate Margaret in one fell swoop. Otherwise, the Storm Church will not give us a second chance. I can create an alchemical trap. Once Margaret falls into the trap, along with the three of us, she will have no chance of survival; she will surely die!"

Upon hearing Connor's suggestion, Martina pondered for a moment, then looked at Connor and said, "Good suggestion!"

"If Martina wants to do this, she'd better discuss it with me first. Of course, it doesn't matter if you don't. If the three of us are of the same rank and go to kill Margaret, the chances of Margaret surviving are no more than twenty percent," Connor said deliberately. He knew that given Martina's personality, she wouldn't be willing to take the risk of even a twenty percent failure.

"Don't worry, once that person finishes surveying the environment and returns, the three of us can meet tonight to discuss how to deal with Margaret. Connor, your alchemical trap will be our priority in dealing with Margaret this time!" Just as Connor predicted, Margaret nodded and made the judgment Connor wanted.

"In that case, I'll go ahead and buy some materials for setting up the alchemical trap on the black market!" With that, Connor stood up, intending to leave the bank's VIP room. However, after only one step, he heard Martina's soft voice behind him say:

"No need, Connor. You don't need to look for alchemical materials on the black market. This operation is of great importance, and Butler Victor attaches great importance to it. He has decided to open the Secret Society's treasury in Rune to you, Connor. After we discuss this tonight, Connor, please make a list of what materials you need to make alchemical mechanisms and give it to me. I will get you everything you want."

Upon hearing Martina's voice, Connor's heart sank. However, having weathered many storms, Connor possessed a certain composure and remained calm. He turned and sat back in his previous seat, looking at Martina nonchalantly and saying, "Very well, it's best if the Secret Society is willing to take responsibility. Otherwise, I'd really be feeling the pinch from all that alchemy materials. Now, where am I supposed to go with you?"

"Raphael Manor!" Martina said softly, revealing the address to Connor. Then, she put on a top hat from her spatial ring and walked out of the bank's VIP room.

A cold glint flashed in his eyes as Connor followed Martina out of the bank's VIP room. A black carriage was parked in front of the bank. Without hesitation, Martina led Connor onto the carriage.
