Chapter 47 Understanding
Hearing the cold female voice from the chip in his mind, Connor's expression became somewhat complicated. The analysis report confirmed 100% that the blue potion was a demonizing potion, but the nearly 80% probability made Connor willing to believe that the blue potion was indeed a demonizing potion.
Since Varga was willing to give him the blue potion, it means that she likely created it or that she is connected to the person who created it. The implications are self-evident!
"Who?"
Lying on the wooden bed, Connor's eyes suddenly flashed with a cold light, and he shouted sharply:
Just as he was pondering this, he suddenly realized that someone seemed to be spying on him in the room.
"Ahem, young master Connor, you're awake?" Just as Connor was searching for the person peering at him from inside the room, a kind-looking old woman with a cane walked into the dining room.
"Who are you?" Connor asked warily, his hand secretly reaching for his lower back under the covers. There, he concealed his revolver. He had just recovered from a serious illness and his magical power was not yet sufficient to support him in casting spells. The only thing he could use for self-defense was the revolver.
"I am Marie, Varga's grandmother. Mr. Connor, you looked so frightening yesterday. Luckily, the bullet didn't hit your heart, otherwise..." Marie, leaning on her cane, had a lingering fear on her aged face.
"Oh, right, young master Connor, this is the bullet that was removed from your body!" Grandma Mary tremblingly took a small cloth bag from her pocket and opened it layer by layer. Inside, a silver bullet gleaming with a cold light lay quietly.
Upon seeing the silver bullet, Connor's eyes narrowed instinctively, but the next second he shifted his gaze from the anti-magic bullet to Grandma Mary's kind face.
Connor's intuition told him that this kind old woman was not as simple and ordinary as she appeared.
"Mr. Connor, these are your things, please keep them safe!" Seemingly oblivious to Connor's odd behavior, Grandma Mary placed the small cloth bag by the bedside.
Without making a sound, Connor grabbed the small cloth bag and a bright smile spread across his face. He bowed slightly and said in thanks, "Grandma Mary, I heard from Varga that you were the one who saved me. Thank you so much!"
"Young Master Connor, you're too kind. This old woman didn't do anything. You're only alive thanks to the Storm Goddess's blessing!" After saying this, Grandma Mary, leaning on her cane, clasped her hands together, closed her eyes, and prayed softly.
Upon hearing the word "storm," Connor's smile faltered, his lips twitching slightly before he managed to maintain a forced smile. "That's right, thanks to the Storm Goddess, I was able to survive! Thank you so much, Storm Goddess!"
"Young Master Connor, do you have any relatives or friends? This house is just an old woman like me and Varga living alone. I'm not a big deal, but Varga won't be an adult for another few months..." Grandma Mary said with some difficulty.
A bitter feeling welled up inside Connor, but he could understand his grandmother Mary. He smiled and nodded, saying, "Grandma Mary, I understand what you mean. I'm already very grateful to you for saving my life, Connor Ferguson. There's no need to go to so much trouble. I can leave on my own."
After saying this, Connor took a deep breath, slowly moved his body, and got off the hospital bed. A slight smile appeared on his pale face. He straightened his back, bowed to Grandma Mary again to express his gratitude, and then pushed open the door and left.
"Another apprentice with a gifted mind. I wonder if he's lucky or unlucky!" After Connor left the room, Grandma Mary murmured to herself in her own room.
"Click!"
However, at that moment, the door was opened again, and the petite Varga came back carrying a vegetable basket. In the sturdy basket, besides a few seasonal vegetables, there was also a small piece of beef.
Glancing at the empty bed, Varga's beautiful eyes showed a hint of surprise. She turned to her grandmother and asked, "Grandma Mary, where's Connor? He just woke up and can't move around freely."
"He's gone!" Grandma Mary turned to Varga and said calmly. Although her tone was calm, the old woman's eyes were full of love and heartache as she looked at her granddaughter.
"Gone?" Varga exclaimed in surprise, her face turning pale as the vegetable basket she was carrying fell to the ground with a thud.
"Grandma, you chased him away?" Varga's eyes welled up with tears, and she said in a trembling voice:
This time, the old woman didn't speak, she just nodded.
"Grandma, Connor just woke up, and you left him so soon? What if his wound reopens? He'll die!" Having received confirmation, two glistening tears streamed down Varga's pretty face as she cried out:
Leaning on her cane, Grandma Mary slowly walked to Varga's side, gently wiping away the tears on Varga's face, and said softly, "My little Varga, you underestimate this young man named Connor Ferguson. His physical abilities have already reached the level of a formal knight, and I have already treated his wounds. Although it will hurt a little, it will definitely not tear again!"
"Grandma, is everything you said true?" Varga's pretty face lit up with surprise again.
"My dear child, when has your Grandma Mary ever lied to you?" the old woman said with a kind smile.
"I'm sorry, Grandma, my attitude just now..." Having received confirmation from her grandmother, Varga realized her rudeness and said softly, fidgeting with the hem of her clothes:
"It's alright, my dear child, but you must remember one thing: stay away from Connor Ferguson as much as possible. He's a dangerous man!" Grandma Mary said solemnly, gently stroking her granddaughter's delicate cheek.
"Huh? Why? Grandma, you know, if it weren't for Connor, I might have been..." Hearing her grandmother telling her to stay away from Connor Ferguson, Varga said anxiously:
"Child, you told me what happened in that pub. If it weren't for Connor saving you, why would I have saved someone like him?" Grandma Mary said softly.
"Someone like him? What's wrong with Connor?" Varga asked in confusion, completely baffled as to why her grandmother would describe Connor as someone like him.
