Chapter 466 Unexpected Events

"Uncle..." Hearing the little girl's innocent address, Connor shook his head with a wry smile. When he first transmigrated to this world, the original owner was already twenty-three years old. With the four years he had been here, he was now twenty-eight years old. In this world where the average age was less than sixty, it didn't seem like an excessive thing for him to be called "uncle".

After a moment of melancholy, Connor set off for the Montero Restaurant, which was mentioned on the note. If Connor remembered correctly, the Montero Restaurant was located opposite the Felix Building, not far away, and only a five-minute walk from where he was.

Five minutes later, Connor arrived at the Montero Hotel. As soon as he entered, he spotted Varga, disguised as Eusebio, sitting in seat number 18 near the window. Varga also spotted Connor immediately as he entered the restaurant. To Connor's surprise, Varga gave him a look.

After exchanging a glance with Varga, Connor calmly sat down in seat number seventeen near Varga, back to back with her.

"Sir, is this your first time here? Would you like me to introduce some of our specialties?" After Connor chose a seat, a friendly waitress in uniform came over with the menu.

"What are some of your specialties?" Having received a look from Varga, Connor, wanting to avoid suspicion, pretended to take the menu from the waitress and began to inquire.

"We have premium filet mignon, fresh squid caught just today from the docks, and braised abalone with broccoli..." the waitress explained earnestly to Connor.

"Then give me a filet mignon, pan-fried squid, and spinach and shrimp soup. Oh, and open a five-year-old bottle of Prado Blue Classic. Thank you!" Connor casually picked out a few items from the waitress's recommendations, then closed the menu and handed it back to her.

"Okay, sir, your order will be ready soon, please wait patiently!" After Connor finished ordering, the waitress gave him a brief instruction and then went to attend to the next customer.

"Three shillings for a meal, young master Connor is so extravagant..." As soon as the waitress left, Varga's lighthearted teasing voice came from behind Connor.

Sensing Varga's relaxed tone, Connor's doubts lessened slightly, and he asked in a low voice, "What's going on?"

"Look across the way!" Varga took a sip of juice from her table through a straw and then answered Connor's question.

Following Varga's directions, Connor glanced out the window at the opposite side of the Montero Restaurant, where the Felix Building, a well-known office area in Rune, was located. Dozens of small and medium-sized trading companies had offices there. It seemed that some companies were moving at the moment, as several moving wagons were parked at the building's exit, and workers wearing clothes marked "Logan Moving Company" were going in and out of the Felix Building, constantly carrying sofas, filing boxes, and other office supplies out of the building.

Just as Connor frowned slightly, wondering what Varga meant by showing him this, Varga's soft voice came through his ear again: "The company currently relocating is called James Trading Company, mainly dealing in iron ore from the continent of Hoy. Following Professor Gulsi's clues, I found out for you the secret stronghold of the Secret Society's Royal Faction in Rune. If I'm not mistaken, it should be this James Trading Company. I asked you to meet me at Fabian Square today to show you this company, but when I got here I discovered that James Trading Company is moving, so I have no choice but to stay here and keep an eye on things..."

"Don't use your mental energy to check on them. I've confirmed there's a high-level wizard apprentice there. Don't alert them!" Seeing that Connor seemed about to use his mental energy to check on them after hearing her explanation, Varga quickly stopped him.

Upon hearing Varga's objection, Connor hesitated for a moment before setting down his mental detection point and whispering to Varga behind him, "Thank you for your hard work!"

"I'm happy to do something for you, Connor!" Varga lowered her head and said affectionately. After saying this, Varga seemed to think of something and continued to whisper to Connor, "I heard that old Victor's men have been moving around a lot lately, as if they are preparing for something big. The people from James Company may have heard something and are planning to run away to avoid trouble."

"Do you know who is in charge of the Royalist faction in Rune?" Connor thought for a moment and asked Varga again.

"I don't know that yet, I only know that the manager of James Trading Company is named Stephen James!" Varga shook her head and replied.

Just as Connor was about to ask something else, the enthusiastic waitress who had greeted him earlier, along with a waiter, pushed a cart loaded with freshly prepared delicacies toward him.

"Sir, your order is ready!" The waitress quickly placed the two dishes and soup that Connor had ordered, along with the five-year-old Prado Blue Classic wine, on the table.

Smelling the enticing aroma of the dishes, Connor nodded with satisfaction, casually handing the waitress a one-shilling note as a tip. He then waved for her to leave. However, once again, only Connor and Varga remained in the corner. Before Connor could ask Varga another question, both Connor and Varga, along with everyone else in the Montero restaurant, looked out the window.

Suddenly, a group of menacing H gang members, wielding machetes and clubs, appeared from a nearby alley. They surrounded the wagons carrying goods for James Trading Company, shouting curses as they attacked the workers from Logan Moving Company. They smashed the James Trading Company's document boxes on the wagons, and screams erupted below the Felix Building. Documents and papers flew everywhere, and several moving company workers were left bleeding from head wounds, some even collapsing in pools of blood.

Seeing this sudden turn of events, Connor and Varga exchanged a glance, both seeing a hint of confusion in each other's eyes...
