Chapter 463 Murder Case

Chapter 463 Murder Case (1)

After introducing himself, Senior Inspector John Duncan, in accordance with the "Carman Empire Police Regulations," took out his police ID from his pocket and showed it to Connor.

Connor glanced at the bright red Metropolitan Police Department stamp on the senior inspector's badge, smiled and nodded. He then shifted his gaze to the shy-looking young woman beside the inspector. However, to Connor's surprise, just as the young woman was about to introduce herself, John Duncan suddenly preemptively introduced her to Connor, saying, "This is my clerk, Kelly. She will be responsible for recording our conversation today, Mr. Connor!"

"Hello, Mr. Connor!" Miss Kelly, a little shy, greeted Connor.

Connor looked the smaller girl over with interest and greeted her politely in return, "Hello, Miss Kelly!"

After exchanging greetings, Connor gestured for the two officers to sit on the sofa, then casually said, "Officers, would you like something to drink? I have gin, whiskey, spirits, rum...

Both the senior inspector and the policewoman shook their heads and declined Connor's advances.

"Alright!" Connor shrugged and sat down on the sofa, asking Mr. John Dunn, "The police officers who were assigned to monitor me near my apartment are probably your subordinates, Senior Inspector, aren't they?"

Upon hearing Connor's question, before John Dunn could even answer, Miss Kelly, sitting next to him, took a very serious look and pulled out a pen and a blue notebook with the Carman Metropolitan Police Department badge from her pocket, quickly scribbling down notes.

Seeing that Miss Kelly was really taking notes on her conversation with John Dunn, and seeing the earnest look on her shy little face, Connor couldn't help but shake his head helplessly.

"That's right, the police officers monitoring you are my subordinates. They are under my orders to monitor you, Connor Ferguson!" John Duncan's sharp, hawk-like eyes were fixed on Connor in front of him, trying to read what he wanted from Connor's face. He didn't bother with beating around the bush and directly admitted Connor's problem.

"Very well! Inspector John, I appreciate your directness. Now tell me your reasons for spying on me. I believe you would not have arranged for Imperial police to spy on a law-abiding Imperial citizen and a hereditary Imperial nobleman with a pleasant voice without any reason!" Connor, leaning back on the sofa, did not avoid John Duncan's gaze at all, and the two clashed directly with each other.

"I wonder if Mr. Connor has seen the newspaper you just bought?" John Duncan tapped the copy of the *Rune Morning Post* on the table between him and Connor and said in a deep voice.

Following John Duncan's finger, Connor's eyes fell on today's "Rune Morning Post." He had just bought the newspaper, and besides, buying the newspaper was just an excuse for Connor to contact the young policeman, so he hadn't had time to read it yet.

John Duncan seemed to think Connor was acting, a cold smile playing on his lips. He then picked up the newspaper from the table and handed it directly to Connor, saying sarcastically, "If Mr. Connor hasn't read it yet, you might want to take a look at today's front page headline in the *Ruhnn Morning Post*. I'm sure you, Mr. Connor, a man of good reputation and a hereditary noble of the Empire, will find it very interesting!"

Sensing the mockery in John Duncan's tone, Connor took the newspaper Duncan handed him. The first, glaring headline read: "Murderous Monster Appears in Rune? Teenage Girl Found Dead on the Street!"

Upon seeing the title, Connor felt a slight unease, and after glancing at the details, his eyes narrowed.

In short, the content of these few hundred words is that two days ago, one morning, an old scavenger found a burlap sack in a trash can on Gerard Street in the northern suburbs of Rune. Inside the sack was not something else, but a part of a body, or more precisely, the left thigh of a young woman.

Upon discovering the body, the old scavenger was naturally terrified by such a serious matter and immediately called the police. With the corpse right in front of him, it was clear that this was an extremely heinous case of murder and dismemberment. The Rune Metropolitan Police Department immediately attached great importance to the case and appointed Senior Inspector John Duncan, who appeared before Connor at that moment, to take full charge of solving the case!

Putting down his newspaper, Connor John Duncan, filled with doubt, asked, "Senior Inspector, does your presence here at this time mean that you believe this case is related to me, Connor Ferguson?"

"I didn't say that..." John Duncan denied it verbally when Connor asked, but there was no doubt that that was what he meant.

"What exactly happened?" Suppressing the urge to unleash his soul-capturing spell on the senior inspector before him, Connor asked in a cold voice:

"Now I have a few questions I'd like to ask you, Mr. Connor, and I hope you can tell us everything you know!" Ignoring Connor's questions, John Duncan continued:

"I understand, I will cooperate with your Metropolitan Police Department's investigation, but I want to say that this matter has nothing to do with me!" Although he was filled with anger and questions, Connor calmed himself down and kept his voice calm.

"Mr. Connor, whether this has anything to do with you is not for you to decide, but for me to judge!" As he said this, John Duncan stared at Connor and tapped his fingers heavily on the table.

Connor, enraged but actually amused, a perfectly timed sneer playing on his lips. He leaned back on his plush sofa, crossed his legs, pointed at John Duncan, and said, "Ask away!"

"Connor Ferguson, do you know Miss Jane Adele, a sophomore at the Green University School of Music?" Seeing Connor's arrogant attitude, John Duncan's eyes flashed with anger, but he still kept his composure and asked his first question in a calm voice.

Connor is currently a hereditary nobleman and heir to an earldom. Without conclusive evidence proving that Connor has committed a crime, even though he is an incredibly dignified senior inspector in the eyes of ordinary people, he can do nothing to Connor. In fact, if he is disrespectful to Connor, the upper house, representing the nobility, will file a complaint against him with the Metropolitan Police Department without Connor having to do anything!
