Chapter 40 Reyes Again

Chapter 40 Reyes Again

"Tap tap tap!" Connor gently knocked on the door of Reyes' villa. Today was the day he and Reyes had agreed to meet again.

"Click!"

With a crisp click, the villa's front door suddenly swung open towards Connor, who heard his mentor Reyes's voice transmitted through the air: "Come straight to the study!"

When Connor reached the door of the study in the villa and raised his hand to knock again to go in, the study door, just like the villa's main door, suddenly opened wide for Connor.

"Greetings, mentor!" Although somewhat surprised by the bizarre scene before him, Connor remained calm and composed on the surface, showing no sign of anything unusual. He politely bowed slightly to Reyes.

"Huh? Connor, you should have mastered the Abyss Arcane innate spell, Shadow Chains, right?" Sensing the Abyss Arcane energy emanating from Connor, Reyes' smile faltered, and he asked hesitantly:

"Yes, mentor!" Connor nodded modestly, stretched out his right hand, and a cloud of black mist immediately appeared on his palm. After two or three breaths, it was clear that the black mist floating on Connor's right palm condensed and transformed into a black chain engraved with mysterious runes!

"It's only been three days since I taught you the Abyss Secrets, and in those three days you not only successfully switched to this path, but you've also mastered the Shadow Chains. It seems this high-level meditation technique, the Abyss Secrets, is very suitable for you!" A complex look flashed in Reyes's eyes, then he smiled and praised:

"Master, you flatter me. I will never forget your kindness in bestowing this upon me! If you have any instructions, I will do my utmost to obey!" As soon as he finished speaking, Connor bowed deeply to Reyes.

Although he didn't know why Reyes was so kind to him, or why he was being treated as his successor, Connor's bow was sincere. Mr. Harvey's birthday party lasted until the early hours of yesterday morning. Slightly drunk, Connor staggered back to his apartment. At that very moment, the chip completed the analysis of the "Shadow Chains" innate spell of the high-level meditation technique, Abyss Arcane Arts!

According to the chip's analysis of "Shadow Chains," Shadow Chains is a spell that can harm both the enemy's soul and body. Its power lies in its ability to imprison. Unless one's strength far surpasses Connor's, once entangled by Connor's Shadow Chains, the enemy's fate is sealed: their mental energy is instantly drained by the Shadow Chains, rendering them unable to fight, while Connor can still do as he pleases!

Besides the most powerful talent spell, Shadow Chains, Abyss Arcane has many other benefits as a high-level meditation technique. First, through the chip, Connor made an amazing discovery: while meditating on Abyss Arcane, his knightly training and physical attributes were also subtly improving. Although it was not immediately apparent, the cumulative effect was astonishing!

Besides the innate spell Shadow Chains, the Second Abyss Arcane also includes several other very useful spells, such as Mental Shock that can directly attack the enemy's soul and Soul Drain that can control multiple people with weaker mental strength than oneself, similar to hypnosis.

According to the chip's estimation of Connor, although Connor has only recently become a junior wizard apprentice, Connor, with the Shadow Chains by his side, is fully capable of fighting against intermediate apprentices!

"Connor, you're a very good young man. It's no wonder I value you so much." Seeing that Connor was so grateful to him and treated him with such respect, Reyes's smile widened, and he nodded in satisfaction.

He hesitated for a moment, then continued, "I happen to have something I need Connor's help with!"

"Emmmm..." Connor was speechless. He had just said, "If there's any order, I'll do it even at the cost of my life," and now Reyes had something for him to do. He couldn't go back on his word, so Connor bowed slightly and said in a deep voice, "Mentor, what can I do for you?"

Reyes said casually, his expression indifferent, "Go to number 107 Sandro Street later. Old Victor is there. Just go there and do something for him! Oh, and one more thing! I think I should tell you that Old Victor is a wizard just like you and me, and he's reached the advanced apprentice level!"

Connor grew increasingly confused by Reyes's words, but seeing that Reyes had no intention of explaining, Connor could only bow again and reply, "Yes, Master! I'll go right now!"

Sitting in the chair, Reyes closed his eyes and didn't speak, but simply waved his hand, indicating that Connor could leave.

Leaving Reyes' villa, Connor hired a carriage near Green University. If Connor remembered correctly, the address Reyes gave him, Sandro Street, should be in the North District of Loen. None of the seven public carriage routes near Green University went directly there; to get from Green University to Sandro Street, he would have to transfer at least twice, wasting a lot of time.

Half an hour later, on Sandro Street, Connor handed the coachman two shillings, indicating that the extra was a tip, and then stepped off the carriage amidst the coachman's sincere thanks.

Sandro Street wasn't very big, and Connor quickly found the house number 107 that Reyes had mentioned.

"Ding! Ding! Ding!"

As Connor rang the doorbell, he was instinctively curious about what Reyes had asked him to do.

With a crisp "click," the door opened, revealing the aged face of Reyes's butler, old Victor.

Upon seeing that it was Connor, Victor nodded slightly and said in a low voice, "Come in!"

With old Victor's mysterious demeanor, Connor couldn't help but wonder what was hidden in this house!

As soon as Connor stepped into 107 Sandro Street, he smelled a faint scent of blood. Although the scent was extremely faint and almost imperceptible, Connor was certain that it was the smell of blood!

Connor's expression turned serious, and his questioning gaze turned to old Victor. Old Victor did not speak, but simply opened the door to one of the rooms and waved for Connor to go in.

As soon as the door opened, Connor could feel the stench of blood in the air immediately intensify, clearly emanating from this room.

Connor hesitated for a moment, but still followed old Victor's instructions and walked into that room!
