Chapter 15 Plan

After asking around among the townspeople, Connor learned the location of Rebecca's father, the wealthy merchant Fabinho's castle.

Walking through the streets of the town and up a hillside nearby, Connor saw a dilapidated castle with its walls covered in green plants and some exposed, weathered areas. He recalled information about the castle.

This castle, located in the town of Dhaka, did not originally belong to the wealthy merchant Fabinho, but to a baron in Dhaka. Moreover, the castle was the ancestral home passed down from the baron's ancestors. However, in order to maintain the luxurious lifestyle and social life of the nobility, the baron mortgaged the castle to Fabinho's bank in exchange for a loan.

The nobleman who received the loan was naturally very happy and continued his extravagant lifestyle. However, the loan had to be repaid eventually. Logically, the castle shouldn't be in such a dilapidated state now that it has fallen into the hands of the wealthy Mr. Fabinho. Due to years of disrepair, the outer walls of the castle have suffered extensive damage and are no longer as impregnable as they once were, keeping enemies at bay. With the help of a monocular telescope, Zhang Tongming observed that there was a well inside the castle, and no other water source within the castle.

Having taken in all of this, Connor, hidden in the woods, revealed a strange smile on his angular face. After conducting a site survey, he was becoming more and more confident in his plan!

With his current skills, he could easily use the damage to the castle's outer walls to sneak into the castle. The well inside the castle is Connor's trump card. The sleeping potion he obtained from Vallejo is extremely potent; just three or four grams is enough to put a lion into a deep sleep. However, the only drawback of this sleeping potion is that it does not take effect immediately after ingestion, but rather after an hour.

When Rebecca arrives at the castle tomorrow, Zhang Tongming only needs to sneak in and put the sleeping potion into the well. That would practically be the end of the mission. Connor doesn't believe Rebecca can go a day without drinking water. Maybe if he's lucky enough, he won't even need to use the expensive dagger and revolver he bought. He can capture Rebecca alive without shedding a drop of blood!

After taking a few deep breaths to calm his excitement, Connor slowly retreated into the depths of the woods. Although there were hotels in the town of Dhaka, he had decided to sleep in the wild fully clothed tonight. The police of the Kaman Empire were not useless; he was here to kill, so it was best to minimize his traces here as much as possible.

At six o'clock the next morning, Connor, who was sleeping in the woods, opened his eyes on time. Normally, only four trains pass through from Rune City to Ka Town, at 7:00 AM, 9:15 AM, 3:30 PM, and 6:45 PM! Valverde's information only recorded that Rebecca had bought a train ticket from Rune to Ka for today, but it did not specify which train Rebecca had bought. Therefore, Connor now had to start waiting from the earliest train.

Time passed quickly, and soon it was seven o'clock. Connor had already silently taken up a concealed position with a very good view. He had taken out his monoculars to observe.

The journey from the train station in Dhaka to the castle takes only twenty minutes for an adult. This means that Rebecca, the goddess Connor Ferguson once admired, will become Connor's prey in as little as twenty minutes!

At 7:18 a.m., two minutes earlier than Connor had expected, a purple figure appeared in Connor's monocular telescope as he was observing the only path leading to Dhaka town and the fort. It was a woman dressed in a purple robe and wearing a black veil.

Although her figure was covered by a large robe and her face was veiled, Connor's intuition told him that the young woman walking toward the castle was none other than Rebecca!

Connor put away his monoculars, took a deep breath, and then hung the sun badge that Professor Reyes had given him around his neck. Rebecca was hanging around with Vidal, a member of the cult Baling, and might know some evil magic. He absolutely couldn't let his guard down.

Watching Rebecca enter the castle, Connor began his own operation. He took out a dagger, a revolver, and a sleeping pill from his violin case, then quickly sneaked under the outer wall of the castle. After checking that no one was paying attention to him, Connor decisively jumped and flipped over the outer wall, easily entering the castle.

At this moment, Connor had no time to observe the once magnificent decorations and the heavy sense of history in the castle. Following his pre-arranged plan, he quietly approached the well, poured the sleeping potion into it, and watched as the colorless and odorless potion dissolved in the clear well water. Connor smiled silently, his eyes filled with madness.

After administering the drug, Connor didn't linger in the castle any longer. He sneaked out again and returned to his original hiding place. Now that all preparations were complete, Connor's next task was to wait for Rebecca to drink the drugged well water and fall into his deadly trap.

Looking at the blazing sun high in the sky, Kang Ning wiped the sweat from his forehead, took out his pocket watch, and saw that the hour hand pointed to eleven o'clock. He estimated that more than three hours had passed since he administered the drug, and given the hot weather, Rebecca should have drunk the well water by now. If nothing unexpected happened, Rebecca should have already taken the drug and was lying on the ground unconscious!
