Chapter 148 The Storm Descends

Chapter 148 The Storm Descends

Abidal was well aware of his current predicament. Although he didn't know why Jovic had turned against him and launched a sneak attack, it was an undeniable fact! Now, heavily injured, he would face the combined might of two wizards of the same rank, Reyes and Jovic!

Thinking of this, a ruthless look appeared on Abidal's slightly aged face. He immediately used some kind of secret technique, and an unnatural flush appeared on his face. His aura instantly increased by nearly double. Judging from his aura, Abidal was now very close to becoming a level three formal wizard.

Abidal moved quickly, and Reyes in the mental array was not slow either. He had already completely destroyed the runic array that no longer had Abidal's mana, as well as the two remaining water elemental giants that Abidal had summoned.

After glancing at Reyes, Abidal focused all his attention on Jovic and said in a deep voice, "You are not Jovic!"

Abidal's words were not a question, but an affirmation, clearly indicating that he did not believe the person who had ambushed him was Jovich, the Punisher of God, who belonged to the church like himself.

"From this moment on, I am Jovic!" Jovic said with a strange smile, his words full of meaning.

Hearing this "Jovic" say this, Abidal nodded heavily, then turned his attention to Reyes, who had just destroyed his rune array, and said:

"Professor, you and the Secret Society have truly shocked me today. Every step you took was meticulously planned, catching me completely off guard... Congratulations! You've won!"

"Mr. Abidal, to paraphrase what Emperor Raul the Great said to the Ranieri family, your victory today is not due to a lack of skill!" Looking at the flush on Abidal's face, Reyes solemnly said, "If I hadn't meticulously planned this for so many years, I might not have won today. If we were in your shoes, I wouldn't have done any better!"

Abidal shook his head, shifting his gaze back to "Jovic" and said, "Mr. Conte, you truly live up to your name as the Phantom Demon. Your possession of Jovic was so skillful that even I couldn't detect a single flaw!"

"I am Jovic now!" Jovic said calmly.

"Jovic?" Abidal retorted noncommittally, "Jovic is the divine punisher who wields justice in the mortal world on behalf of the goddess. Although he has returned to the goddess's embrace, his name must never be profaned by you!!!"

At this point, Abidal suddenly unleashed a powerful surge of magical energy. His physical body seemed unable to withstand such immense power, and chunks of flesh peeled away from his skeleton. In an instant, Abidal was covered in blood, looking like a monster.

Despite his appearance, Abidal's voice remained firm, his devout chant echoing in the surrounding space: "In the name of the storm goddess Semel Lorin, I warn the world that storms are coming!"

As Abidal finished chanting the last word of his spell, all the flesh and blood on his body could no longer withstand the increasingly powerful magical fluctuations that splashed everywhere, while his remaining skeleton transformed into an unstoppable, enormous storm that swept wildly toward Jovic.

As for Jovic, the target of this massive storm, he seemed to be frozen in place, standing there doing nothing, with an unbelievable blank look in his eyes.

"Thump!"

Reyes slammed the Abyss Staff into the ground, instantly raising a black inverted triangle magic circle. The circle released countless black chains that wrapped around Jovic's raging storm.

Strangely enough, the enormous storm formed by Abidal burning his own life force, which looked devastating and terrifying, was actually bound by the black chains released by Reyes, and could not move an inch towards Jovic.

Seeing this, Reyes pointed his finger in the air, and white flames immediately appeared on the black chains. The huge storm that was bound by the black chains vanished as soon as it came into contact with the white flames. In less than a minute, the entire huge storm completely disappeared into the air.

Seeing everything return to dust, Reyes slowly finished his work. His slightly pale face proved that although he had the last laugh, such a battle had taken a huge toll on him.

A few more minutes passed before Jovic recovered from his stunned state, his deep eyes filled with lingering fear. Once he recovered and saw that the massive storm had vanished and that only Reyes was beside him, he slowly breathed a sigh of relief and said reassuringly, "Reyes, I'm so glad you were here this time. Otherwise, I really would have been pulled into their goddess's soft embrace along with Abidal's storm..."

"Since I've allowed Abidal to unleash Stormfall, I naturally have methods to destroy it. If we don't let Abidal use Stormfall to fight him to the bitter end, even if the two of us manage to kill him, we'll inevitably be injured!" Reyes said calmly.

"Hehe, Reyes, you've got a good plan. This old guy is still loyal to the church. Knowing that I was going to impersonate Jovich, he didn't hesitate to sacrifice his soul so he could never reincarnate, and he even used Storm Descent to kill me... Unfortunately, in the end, he still fell for your trick, Reyes!" Jovich said with emotion, his words full of admiration for Reyes.

Reyes showed no arrogance at Jovic's praise. He pondered for a moment, then cautioned Jovic, "Conte, remember what you said. You are Jovic now. After I move on to the next step, His Holiness the Pope will definitely possess you. You must not reveal any flaws!"

"Reyes, don't worry, as long as that old guy doesn't show up in front of me in his real form, he definitely won't find anything out!" Jovic's words were full of confidence.

After saying that, Jovic seemed to have thought of something, hesitated for a moment, and then said to Reyes, "With such a big commotion this time, have you thought about how you're going to explain it to the Duke?"

"Heh, explain to him? Explain what? If I'm not mistaken, he's definitely not concerned about you and me right now. Don't worry, I've got you covered!" Reyes sneered, his words filled with disdain for the legendary number one figure in the secret society, the Duke.
