Chapter 1064 Sisters Reunion

After listening to Margaret's story, Elena seemed unaware of the subtle motive behind Margaret's words. She nodded slightly, pondered for a moment, and then continued to ask Margaret, "Is there any opportunity to arrange a meeting between me and Connor Ferguson?"

"Sister Elena, are you going to meet with Connor?" Margaret asked in surprise. After speaking, Margaret frowned slightly, as if she didn't know what Elena's intention was.

"That's right, I want to meet Connor. Margaret, you know I don't have a younger sister. I grew up in a convent within the church, so from the moment we met, I've treated you like a younger sister. Now that you want to be with Connor Ferguson, as your older sister, it's only natural that I should help you make the decision!" Elena said with a light laugh.

Although Elena's excuse was plausible, the shrewd Margaret wasn't entirely at ease. She knew very well that Elena was a Cardinal Archbishop of the Storm Church, second only to the Pope, while Connor was a dark wizard, a natural enemy of the Storm Church. Given the Storm Church's consistently assertive stance towards dark wizards, Elena's attempt to meet with someone like Connor carried significant political risk. If discovered and exposed, it would be extremely troublesome, subjecting her to immense pressure from within the Church.

If Margaret remembered correctly, Elena had never met with that dark wizard alone before today. So, although she didn't know what Elena's purpose was in wanting to meet Connor, Margaret instinctively wanted to refuse Elena's suggestion for Connor's safety.

But just as Margaret hesitated, wondering how to politely decline Elena's suggestion, Elena, seemingly seeing through Margaret's thoughts from within the water curtain, smiled without getting angry and continued, "Of course, besides helping you make your decision, Margaret, I have some other things I'd like to discuss with Connor Ferguson!"

Hearing Elena's words, Margaret's heart skipped a beat, and she blinked her beautiful eyes, then asked Elena in a coquettish tone, "Sister Elena, what do you want to talk to him about?"

Seeing Margaret's expression, Elena shook her head helplessly, but still said to Margaret with affection, "The Church has received reliable information confirming that Professor Reyes's two henchmen, Bispin and Southgate, are hiding in Frosinone. Therefore, His Holiness the Pope convened a Supreme Council yesterday, and the council decided to appoint me to Frosinone to oversee all matters. I will depart for Frosinone in the next few days, which will be a good opportunity to meet with Connor Ferguson!"

Although Elena's words seemed ordinary, Margaret's political acumen was sharp. She quickly discerned a hidden meaning in Elena's words, and with a slight shift in her expression, she tentatively asked Elena through the water screen, "Are the higher-ups dissatisfied with Christant's work?"

Although Bispin and Southgate, two secret society black wizards with formal wizarding skills, appeared in Frosinone, Elena, as a high-ranking member of the Storm Church, would not easily make a move under such circumstances. Moreover, the front line in Frosinone is currently overseen by Christant, the intelligence director of the Black Organization and the Storm Church's top intelligence chief.

If the discovery of Bisping and Southgate's whereabouts leads to a need for surveillance or action, resulting in a shortage of personnel at the front and requiring reinforcements, the usual practice would be to draw personnel from other parts of the Storm Church. Then, Christant would continue to command the front lines. As the director of the Black Organization and a high-ranking member of the Storm Church, Christant is fully qualified to undertake this overall command task.

Instead, things shouldn't be like this, where the higher-ups decided to have Elena, the woman in red, personally take charge. Doing so now undoubtedly means that the higher-ups are sending a signal that they don't trust Christant, the head of intelligence!

Elena wasn't surprised that Margaret had figured this out. Since she had already told Margaret these things, she wasn't afraid to be blunt. So she nodded, indicating that Margaret was right, and then continued, "Margaret, you've spent quite a bit of time in Rune, so you must know Lena, who's in charge of intelligence work for the church in the Rune region, right? What's your opinion of her?"

"Lena?"

Margaret looked at Elena in the water curtain with some surprise. Under Margaret's gaze, Elena nodded slightly, indicating that she hadn't misheard and that she was asking about Lena.

Having received Elena's confirmation, Margaret, though unsure why Elena had suddenly asked her about Lena, carefully recalled her past with Lena and then, after organizing her thoughts, recounted the story to Elena:

"When I was in Rune, I was still a high-level wizard apprentice, so I didn't have much contact with Lena. However, in those limited interactions, I found that Lena was very calm and very cunning. To achieve her goals, Lena would stop at nothing. As a wizard of the Storm Church, she lacked a bit of principle. In short, in my opinion, Lena is a very difficult character to deal with!"

"Furthermore, after the Rune Secret Society incident, Eder became the bishop of the Rune Storm Church. Although Lena outwardly maintained a purely official attitude towards Eder, she secretly provided him with a great deal of assistance. Lena played a significant role in Eder's ability to secure his position as bishop of the Rune Storm Church!"

Elena seemed to value Margaret's opinion highly. After considering it seriously for a moment, she softly said to the somewhat puzzled Margaret, "At this meeting, someone proposed that Lena become the deputy director of the Black Organization to share some of Christant's work. Although this proposal hasn't been voted on, it's only a matter of time before it's finalized. I heard that Lena has already started handing over her work to Rune!"

"Is Christant's problem that serious?" Having laid the groundwork beforehand, Margaret wasn't too surprised by Lena's appointment as Deputy Director of Intelligence at the Black Organization. A glint flashed in her beautiful eyes as she asked Elena with some doubt:
