Wizard Earl

Chapter 1001 Evil Spirit Spider

A few days later, in a forest deep in the Campania Mountains, 500 kilometers southwest of Frosinone, deafening explosions and violent energy fluctuations were constantly erupting. A small team of about a dozen fully armed wizards was engaged in a fierce battle with a group of giant spiders that were emitting sharp shrieks from time to time.

"Mr. Connor, what should we do next?" Waving his staff and unleashing wind blades to repel an adult evil spider that lunged at him, the old priest of the Church of Storms, Dezerby, anxiously asked Connor Ferguson, who was surrounded by four adult evil spiders not far away.

At this moment, not only were the two formal wizards, Dezelby and Connor Ferguson, fighting against these ferocious evil spiders, but several Church Arbitrators of the Storm Church around them were also entangled in battle with the evil spiders around them. Moreover, compared to the two formal wizards, these Church Arbitrators, who only had the cultivation of wizard apprentices, looked even more miserable, almost all of them were injured and barely holding on.

Three days ago, this search team, consisting of six intermediate wizard apprentice arbitrators, two advanced wizard apprentice arbitrators, and Dezelby and Connor Ferguson, set off from downtown Frosinone to search for the possible hiding place of Reyes in the surrounding area.

Two hours earlier, their search team, consisting of eight church arbitrators, a priest, and a dark wizard, arrived at the suspected site of the ruins in the Campania Mountains. However, after testing with a magic array, Connor quickly determined that this was not the place they were looking for.

According to Connor's advice, since they had determined that this was not the place they were looking for, they should quickly pass through here and head to another place in the Campania Mountains where the ruins might appear, since the place they were in now was a dangerous place where monsters often appeared.

However, Connor's request was rejected by De Zelby, who believed that he and his eight arbitrators needed to rest after six hours of work. They should rest here for a while before heading to their next location in the Campania Mountains.

Most importantly, according to records, no particularly dangerous magical beasts have appeared in the Campania Mountains in the past thirty years. Their search team has two formal wizards with very strong abilities. They can roam freely in the Campania Mountains. Even if they encounter any magical beasts, they can take the opportunity to collect some magical beast materials and earn some extra money to supplement their cultivation expenses while completing the mission. They don't have to worry about the dangers they might encounter after encountering magical beasts.

Because eight of the ten men in the team, besides Connor, were DeZelby's subordinates, even though Connor argued and strongly opposed the idea, the search team ultimately had to stop and rest.

Taking a break wouldn't normally be a big deal, since, as Dezerby said, their search team was indeed very strong. However, as the saying goes, it's better to be safe than sorry. After resting for half an hour, just as Dezerby was preparing to set off again, their nightmare began...

A swarm of evil spirit spiders crawled out of a seemingly ordinary small hill not far to the east. Before the search team could react, they were caught off guard by the evil spirit spiders. These evil spirit spiders are a very rare magical beast in the northeastern forests of the Kaman Empire. They are called evil spirit spiders because the shrieks they emit are extremely piercing, like the roar of evil spirits.

Evil Spirit Spiders are among the few social magical beasts whose individual strength is not bad. Adult Evil Spirit Spiders have the strength equivalent to a high-level human wizard apprentice. A very small number of Spider Kings can even evolve into Blood-Striped Evil Spirit Spiders, which are equivalent to a full-fledged human wizard. They are extremely powerful. According to records, Evil Spirit Spiders usually live in groups of thirty to fifty. The group that Connor and his group encountered now had about fifty Evil Spirit Spiders, which surrounded them.

Before Dezerby could finish speaking to Connor, a dark, blood-stained shadow suddenly appeared with lightning speed, accompanied by a piercing shriek like the roar of an evil spirit.

Dezerby, the veteran priest of the Storm Church, still seemed quite capable. Although the attack from the black and red shadow was sudden and without warning, he quickly erected several ice walls in front of him before the shadow could hit him, trying to buy him some time to react.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

The ice walls that Dezerby hastily created crumbled instantly upon impact with the dark figure. Fortunately, Dezerby hadn't expected them to stop the eerie shadow. In the few seconds the ice walls bought him, Dezerby managed to get a clear look at the shadow.

This is a giant evil spirit spider, much larger than a normal adult evil spirit spider. However, its biggest difference from ordinary evil spirit spiders is that this evil spirit spider is covered with irregular blood-red patterns all over its body. These blood patterns look extremely vivid, as if they were dyed with fresh blood. Looking at them makes one feel a chill down one's spine and a sense of dread.

Upon seeing the Blood-Patterned Evil Spider and sensing the powerful aura emanating from it, a name immediately popped into Dezerby's mind—the Blood-Patterned Evil Spider!

Having confirmed the other party's identity and strength, Dezerby gasped in shock. His extensive experience gave him a clear understanding of just how terrifying such a thing could be. However, despite his initial fear, his years of experience navigating the wizarding world allowed him to quickly regain his composure.

Without the slightest hesitation, he slammed his aged hand heavily on the staff that had been with him for decades. Instantly, a blue-white light shone from the staff, and a blue-white light shield blocked the blood-patterned evil spider that had broken through the ice wall.

Although the blue-white protective shield was extremely powerful, managing to block the sudden attack of the Blood-Patterned Evil Spider for Dezelby, it was clear that Dezelby, with only the cultivation of a first-level wizard, could not withstand such a strong defense for long.

Sure enough, a few seconds later, due to the excessive consumption of mana, Dezelby had no choice but to remove the blue-white light shield and engage in a fierce battle with the Blood-Patterned Evil Spider.
