Douluo Continent: My Martial Soul is the Mysterious Heavy Ruler

Chapter 8 External Soul Bone

Early the next morning, Xiao Yi entered the Star Dou Great Forest.

Before setting off, he bought poison and survival supplies, because he was hunting soul beasts alone and could only try to obtain soul rings.

The Starry Sky Forest is divided into an outer circle, a mixed circle, an inner circle, and a core circle.

The outer circle consists of ten-year and hundred-year-old soul beasts, the mixed circle consists of thousand-year and ten-thousand-year-old soul beasts, the inner circle consists of soul beasts over fifty thousand years old, and the core area is guarded by the Azure Bull Python and the Titan Giant Ape.

Xiao Yi's target this time was a soul beast that was over five thousand years old but under ten thousand years old, so he headed directly towards the mixed circle.

Upon entering the Star Dou Great Forest, the soul power inside was many times higher than outside. Every one of the 36,000 pores on my body greedily absorbed the free soul power in the air. If the Star Dou Great Forest weren't so dangerous, cultivating here would definitely be twice as effective.

Upon arriving at the mixed circle, Xiao Yi gained nothing on the first day. Either his age limit was too high, or the attributes were not suitable for him. So he could only find a tree to climb.

Seven days later

"Hey!"

"Damn it, why are they targeting me?"

Xiao Yi cursed loudly.

For seven days in a row, Xiao Yi did not see the soul beast he desired. An hour ago, he had just set up his tent when a bird called out from the sky. He looked up and saw a golden-feathered sword eagle. The moment he saw it, Xiao Yi turned and ran without looking back.

This Golden Feather Sword Eagle is a spirit beast over seven thousand years old, but its strength can rival that of a ten-thousand-year-old spirit beast. It possesses the metal element, usually feeds on snakes, and enjoys capturing its prey, carrying it high into the sky, and then letting it crash to the ground.

It has now also set its sights on Xiao Yi, and it has been chasing after Xiao Yi in the air.

"No, if it keeps chasing me like this, I'll run out of energy. Forget about hunting soul beasts, I'll just get eaten. I need to find a way to create an opening and kill it back," Xiao Yi thought to himself.

After a while, the Golden Feather Sword Eagle seemed to have gotten tired of playing, so it swooped down towards Xiao Yi.

Seeing the Golden Feather Sword Eagle swooping down, Xiao Yi deliberately created an opening. When the Golden Feather Sword Eagle swooped down to his side, he moved to the right and, at the critical moment, grabbed its neck, flipped over, and climbed onto the back of the Golden Feather Sword Eagle.

Seeing Xiao Yi dodge and leap onto his back, the Golden Feather Sword Eagle quickly took off, flipping and turning in the air trying to throw Xiao Yi off.

Xiao Yi remained motionless on the back of the Golden Feather Sword Eagle, drawing his Xuan Heavy Ruler and striking its wings repeatedly.

Soon, a wound appeared on the Golden Feather Sword Eagle's wing, and Xiao Yi took the opportunity to apply poison to the wound.

After a while, the Golden Feather Sword Eagle ran out of strength and plummeted toward the ground. Just before it hit the ground, the Golden Feather Sword Eagle suddenly flipped over, intending to perish together with Xiao Yi.

However, Xiao Yi understood the Golden Feather Sword Eagle's thoughts. The moment the Golden Feather Sword Eagle turned over, he jumped off its back. This fall was quite severe for Xiao Yi, and even though he had been carrying the Xuan Heavy Ruler for many years, he felt pain in his bones.

He steadied himself, then took the Xuan Heavy Ruler and walked towards the Golden Feather Sword Eagle, smashing it down on its head under the eagle's resentful gaze.

After the Golden Feather Sword Eagle died, he sat down cross-legged and meditated for a while, as the hour-long chase and the landing in the air had exhausted his strength.

After Xiao Yi finished regulating his breathing, he thought it was too dangerous to absorb a soul ring in the wild. He looked around and found a cave nearby, so he dragged the corpse of the Golden Feather Sword Eagle toward the cave.

Once inside the cave, he threw the corpse on the ground and began to absorb the soul rings cross-legged.

The soul ring entered his body, and an even more surging soul power rushed into his body than before. His meridians and internal organs were painfully impacted by this soul power, but he endured the pain with his tenacious willpower.

……

Early the next morning.

After absorbing the soul ring, Xiao Yi reached level 33, and the weight of the Xuan Heavy Ruler reached 3200 jin. His soul skill was to split the Xuan Heavy Ruler into eight parts and attack the enemy from eight directions. Xiao Yi called this soul skill Zhenyu Bafang.

Just then, Xiao Yi felt an itch on his back, followed by a sharp pain.

"Sizzle."

A tearing sound rang out, and at the same time, a pair of two-meter-long wings grew from his back.

When the wings first appeared, they were covered in white bones, and then golden feathers that emitted a cold light grew out of the bone wings.

"What is this? An external soul bone?"

Xiao Yi thought to himself.

In the world of Soul Masters, Soul Bones are divided into six parts: skull, left arm bone, right arm bone, left leg bone, right leg bone, and torso bones. The external Soul Bone is the most special Soul Bone.

Because it doesn't occupy any soul bone slot, and its lifespan can increase as the soul master grows.

If the probability of a low-level soul beast dropping a soul bone is one in a thousand, the probability of dropping an external soul bone is one in ten thousand. Throughout this era, there have only been two people with external soul bones: one is the current Pope Bibi Dong, and the other is Tang San a few years later.

Someone once published a Soul Master Dream Ranking. The first place was a 100,000-year Soul Ring and Soul Bone, and the second place was an External Soul Bone. However, External Soul Bone requires time to integrate. If it is not fully integrated with oneself, one can kill the enemy to make the External Soul Bone drop. But if it is fully integrated, it will not drop no matter what.

Xiao Yi's external soul bone possesses two skills. The first is "Sword Qi Soaring to the Universe," meaning Xiao Yi can use the feathers as swords for attack. The second skill increases all his attributes by 150%. (Wings can fly anyway, so they don't need to take up space.)

Xiao Yi tried flying with his wings. His wings fluttered slightly. Because it was his first time flying, he was a little unskilled and flew for a while before coming down.

"Not bad, 2000 meters per minute should be pretty fast," Xiao Yi commented after experiencing the speed.

As everyone knows, in the Douluo Continent, only Title Douluo or flying-type Soul Masters who have reached the Soul Saint level and activated their Martial Soul True Body can fly. Now that Xiao Yi has an external Soul Bone, he can run away from enemies he can't defeat.

However, Xiao Yi still needs time to integrate, otherwise it would be terrible if others found out that he had an external soul bone.

Xiao Yi then tried two more skills. To put it simply, the first skill created a large pit in front of him that was five or six meters deep and three or four meters wide.

"Tsk, this power is quite great, but it does consume a lot of soul power, about one-tenth of it each time." Xiao Yi looked at the damage on the ground and clicked his tongue in amazement.

As for his second skill, considering his first two soul skills, he should be able to fight Soul Masters who are higher level than him. He might not be that much better than Soul Kings, but he has wings, so he can kite them while fighting. Even if he has to wear them down, he can still exhaust them.

"It's been a week since we came in. It's time to go out and rest for a bit and buy some supplies. We'll be training here for the next few years."
