Fairy Tail: I was transported to the wrong world and became a pirate
Chapter 25 The Awakening of Hughes
"You silly girl, you have to tell the truth. A misdiagnosis is a very dangerous thing," Polyusica scolded.
She wasn't a mage and couldn't sense magic. She had trusted Mira and followed Mira's words to judge Hughes's situation, which almost ruined her reputation.
Polius quickly and carefully examined Hughes again.
"Hey! Polyusicaa, Mira wasn't wrong. Hughes can indeed use magic that's very similar to fire elemental magic, but he doesn't have a magic source within him."
Makarov, do you want to listen to what you're saying?
Polyusika's expression was so obvious that Makarov knew what she meant without her having to speak, and raised his hand to stop her.
"Wait, let me finish!"
"Mira awakened on her own to receive magic and absorbed demons into her body. This aligns with our understanding."
Poliuska nodded; this was indeed a characteristic of receiving magic.
"But Hughes is different. According to Mira, Hughes ate a demon and that's how he gained fire magic."
Mira nodded; that's what Hughes had told her.
After examining Hughes's body, Porlyusica directly refuted, "That's impossible. Although this kid has an exaggerated physique, he is still human at heart, not a demon."
Based on what you told me before, the demons Mira and Hughes encountered were artificial demons, and artificial demons must contain demonic particles.
This is something deadly to both ordinary people and mages. If Hughes had eaten the demon, he wouldn't have survived this long.
Poliuska paused slightly, glancing suspiciously at Mira, who was pursing her lips, and Hughes, who was unconscious.
The facts are clear: one of these two people is lying, or both of them are lying.
"Furthermore, demons use spells, which are two different systems from magic. Even if Hughes devours a demon, he should awaken spells, not magic."
Poliusca's next words pierced Mira's heart like an arrow. She stared blankly at Hughes, unable to believe that Hughes, with whom she had spent so much time, would lie to her.
Makarov shook his head: "The power on Hughes is not magic; I can sense the evil power of curses."
Golden light rose from Makarov's body, and the guild crests on Mira and Hughes' right forearms also shone brightly.
"But the power in Hughes is not magic either. Although it is very similar, it is a power system that has never existed in the world of Asland."
Makarov's two casual remarks shocked Polyusica: "He's also from another world?"
In the Fairy Tail universe, there are multiple worlds, some of which have completely different power systems.
Makarov's world is Aslant, a world where magic is used; while Poliusica, whom he has known for decades, comes from Edolas, a world where humans do not have a source of magic within them, similar to Hughes's situation.
She appeared in the world of Aslant by chance decades ago due to an accident.
"But Hughes shouldn't be from Edolas either!" Through someone in the guild, Makarov also knew quite a bit about Edolas.
That was just an ordinary world!
Hughes' unique power system destined him to be someone who could never have come from the world of Edolas.
"People from other worlds!" Porlyusica said, her voice low and tinged with disappointment.
Mira, equally shocked by Hughes's origins, stared at him with her blue eyes shining like light bulbs, her gaze seemingly trying to see right through him.
She never expected that Hughes was from another world—another world!
...Another world?
Mira suddenly snapped out of her daze, the curiosity in her eyes fading. She looked down at the potions in her hand: "Grandma Polyusica, will these potions still work on Hughes?"
Mira's sudden question brought Makarov and Polyusika back to their senses.
"No problem, but it's only a temporary solution. Ultimately, it depends on Hughes himself."
Poliusica wanted to say something more, but considering that he knew nothing about Hughes's power system, he swallowed his words.
"Mira, don't worry! The magical world is vast, and there will be a way to restore Hughes to normal, just like Laxus did back then," Makarov said decisively.
Polyusika glanced at him, slightly speechless. Could these two be in the same situation?
Mira gripped the reagent in her hand. She didn't know who Lagusas was, but she knew that Hughes wouldn't have another attack for the time being.
"Alright, leave Hughes with me for now, Mira stays here to take care of him, Makarov, why aren't you going back yet, or they'll tear your guild apart."
Polyushika started to shoo people away, but just that one sentence made Makarov slightly uncomfortable.
Makarov rubbed his nose: "Before I arrived, the guild had already been destroyed by Macao and his gang..."
Polyusica: ∑(O_O;)
"Namira, I'm leaving Hughes in your care. I'll go find someone to rebuild the guild. Once Hughes is awake, bring him here."
Mira nodded.
......
The afterglow of the setting sun carried a hint of warmth, yet was somewhat dazzling, shining obliquely on the hospital bed, with specks of light falling on Hughes' face as he slowly opened his eyes.
The unfamiliar environment and his groggy head left Hughes feeling somewhat lost.
Lying in his hospital bed, Hughes pondered for a long time before recalling what had happened before he fell into a coma.
He raised his noticeably different right hand, and the blue guild emblem on his arm surprised Hughes.
Did I just join the Fairy Tail guild?
"You won't pass the job interview because of your tattoos!"
A sentence suddenly flashed through his mind, startling Hughes so much that he shuddered inexplicably.
Oh no! My life is ruined. It'll be so hard to take the civil service exam or find a job now!
Oh! I have a mental illness, these two things were just delusions, and then I was transported to another world... Never mind then.
While Hughes was still in the mood to amuse himself, the door to the ward was gently pushed open, and Mira, wearing a pink dress and with her white hair tied in a big ponytail, walked in carrying a basin of water.
Looking up, he saw that Hughes had regained consciousness. He paused slightly, and the fatigue on his face disappeared.
"woke up?"
"Hmm, you're in pretty good shape!"
"That's good!" The white-haired girl with a ponytail placed the washbasin under the bed, abandoning her initial intention to wash Hughes' body.
"Mira, where are we?"
The white-haired girl stood beside the hospital bed, shielding Hughes from the glaring sunlight. She parted her pearly teeth slightly and recounted in a gentle voice everything that had happened to Hughes after he fell into a coma.
Hughes listened half-heartedly, then raised his finger and pointed at her arm.
"You're blue too! I thought you'd wear the white guild emblem."
"Wait... why are you covering your right hand?" Hughes sat up abruptly, grabbing her shoulders with both hands, utterly shocked.
In his memory, Mira's guild emblem should have been stamped on her thigh.
This is bad; the plot is starting to deviate from the memories in his mind, and Hughes is getting uneasy.
The close proximity caused the white-haired girl to slightly turn her head, and the volume of her voice decreased significantly.
"It's just a guild crest, it's not a big deal!"
Her head gradually lowered as she spoke, making it impossible to see her expression.
