Chapter 85 The Midnight Train Departure

Igor Karkaroff was still waiting. The first group of Death Eaters who entered had already shown that the people in Strasbourg were not entirely without the ability to resist. As for why a first-year wizard would have the ability to resist, Igor could only say that anything is possible. After all, before Harry Potter, no one could have imagined that a first-year wizard could thwart Voldemort's resurrection plan.

"Those two brats killed without the slightest hesitation... This is troublesome."

Standing outside the city, Igor sighed, thinking to himself that the people Dumbledore trained seemed to be no different from Voldemort's Death Eaters. In fact, Harry Potter was truly ruthless. Although he didn't know the situation inside, seeing so many people thrown in and still no movement, Igor could guess that most of the Death Eaters inside had probably already died a horrible death.

"Waaaaaah!!!!"

Igor instinctively looked in the direction the sound came from. He heard the sound of a train. Was a train about to depart from the train station? Had the fighting inside not even affected the normal operation of the train station?

As Igor was pondering this, he suddenly realized something. He immediately took out his pocket watch and glanced at it. Several hours had passed since the first group of Death Eaters entered. Even if the two young wizards possessed extraordinary abilities, they could at most engage the Death Eaters in a short period of time within the city. Given the Death Eaters' fearless fighting style, the fog here should be cleared away very soon.

"Are they trying to stall until Dumbledore arrives?!"

Igor felt a sense of urgency; he either had to capture the man before Dumbledore arrived, or leave immediately.

But the train whistle was just too tempting, Igor thought. If this was a hunter's trap, then the person who designed it had completely figured out the Death Eaters' thoughts.

If the stalemate continues, then all the Death Eaters will have to retreat and lie low before Dumbledore arrives. However, if the two young wizards decide to board the train and escape, then the Death Eaters will have a reason and meaning to pursue them. After all, how could a train that has just started moving possibly keep up with their flying brooms and spells?

So, at midnight, with the moon high in the sky, Igor prepared himself. Whether it was a trap or not, the bait was far too tempting. Harry Potter, this special child, was destined to become Voldemort's greatest enemy, and if he could deal with this enemy now…

Igor's mind wasn't solely focused on submitting to the Dark Lord; Harry Potter could even be used as a bargaining chip in negotiations with the Dark Lord, but all of this depended on him capturing the child.

"Be patient, Igor, be patient... You must find the best opportunity."

The train's dim headlights pierced through the thick fog, and in this deserted station, a train was slowly preparing to depart.

"Grandpa Andrei... are you really alright?"

Red looked at the old ghost in front of him, who seemed like he could disappear at any moment. The train needed some people to guard it when it first started moving. Of course, once the train picked up speed, he would have the opportunity to realize his craziest idea for this journey, which would also be a great surprise for Professor McGonagall, who taught Transfiguration.

"Don't worry, I'm already dead, so it doesn't matter what happens to me now... These damned bastards actually tried to harm the children."

Old Andrei waved his hand. He had no wand, nothing else. As a ghost, he could play very little role, but at this moment, he made his final choice.

"You know what, child? I don't want to die in that damn bed. Even... even at the very end, I feel I should pick up my wand again and do something. But I can't. This time is different, child... this time I can do something."

Old Andrei looked at Red, calmly nodded to him, then walked to the front of the train and started the train.

At that moment, old Andrei became completely bound to the train, becoming a part of it.

The train sounded its horn precisely at midnight, breaking through the thick fog, and then slowly began to accelerate.

"Catch them!!! Catch them!!"

The thick fog in the city was gradually cleared by the Death Eaters' efforts, but their hopes of immediately catching Harry Potter's thoughts were dashed. Frustrated, the Death Eaters abandoned the bodies of their companions and began to chase the old train.

"Harry, the field of vision is very wide, but you need to be careful. The wind speed here will have a certain impact on shooting. You'll have to rely on your feel for the shot to make up for that."

Harry nodded, picking up his wand. During his time dealing with the Death Eaters, he had been consciously conserving his energy; their final battle shouldn't be in Strasbourg, it should be now...

Harry opened the carriage window, leaned out, and shot a dark wizard riding a flying broomstick. The dark wizard screamed and fell to the ground, never to get up again.

"There's basically no way to stop them from boarding the carriages... Now it's time for the real spell showdown, Harry, hold on tight to your pistol."

Red tossed Harry two brand-new Soviet-made pistols. Since the fall of that giant, these things had become quite common on the black market, and they were all good quality and inexpensive. Red had been accumulating quite a few of these things, and now they were finally coming in handy.

Red and Harry knew that the two of them plus the old ghost wouldn't be able to stop the people outside the train, so they planned to use the train carriages as cover. After all, this train not only had passenger and dining cars, but also a lot of freight cars, enough to make the train speed up until the dark wizards dared not continue to chase.

"But Red... if we keep going like this, we'll crash into other trains soon, right? I didn't know that before, but I've been cramming on train traffic lately..."

Harry put the last bottle of bitter black salt into the fuel compartment; they had essentially bet everything they had on this journey on this train.

"Of course, our driving style, which ignores traffic control, is bound to crash into something sooner or later."

"That would cause a lot of damage and casualties..." Harry tried to persuade Red, but Red interrupted him.

"So we won't be taking the usual route... Harry, we're wizards."
