The Silent Bookstore Manager at Hogwarts

Chapter 71 The Beginning of the Holiday

"You're awake? You're the best one in this batch."

Harry opened his eyes and heard a strange remark. Next to him sat Red, who was unwrapping a bag of candy without hesitation; it looked like a gift for Harry.

"Want a bite?"

"Okay, thank you..."

Harry took the candy and began to devour it without hesitation.

"Feeling better?" Red licked his lips, the sweet taste of the candy lingering in his mouth, and he let out a long sigh.

"Much better, my body seems to be recovering exceptionally quickly..."

Harry glanced at his hands and arms; the places where there should have been scars had healed completely, as if he had never been injured.

"Congratulations! Do you remember what grand ambitions you made before you fainted?"

Harry pressed his head, then reached for his glasses on the bedside table and put them on before slowly speaking.

"I remember I think I was..."

"You took two oaths, one to the lion tamer and the other to the colonel. This is an advance payment to you... I guess you could call it a gift?"

Reid stroked his chin, pondering the word for a while, and finally found the word "gift".

"In other words, from now on, your fate is destined to be intertwined with the Death Eaters and Voldemort, with no possibility of escape. What do you think?"

"Excellent, I told you I would send them all to hell so they could atone for the people they hurt."

Harry spoke through gritted teeth. Voldemort's brazen words and actions had brought his anger to its peak, so Harry was now completely unconcerned about the potential negative impact of his oath. He only knew that he could gain even greater power to eliminate the Death Eaters and Voldemort.

"Oh, by the way, Headmaster Dumbledore will be here soon. I think you probably have a lot of questions to ask him, so I won't be an eyesore here and make the Q&A session difficult. See you later..."

Red stood up, and at that moment Dumbledore pushed open the door to the infirmary, greeted Harry at the door, and then greeted Red.

"Then I'll be going. If nothing unexpected happens, Hogwarts classes will end here this year, right?"

"Yes... Reid, where are you going back to?"

"Ah, maybe it's an orphanage, or I can look elsewhere. After all, the world is so big, and London isn't small either; there must be a place for a little wizard, right?"

Red smiled and waved his hand. For some reason, the words Dumbledore originally wanted to say remained on his lips, and he didn't say them until Red left.

"Sigh, maybe I really am getting old... Harry, are you feeling better?"

Harry nodded. He looked straight ahead and saw a pile of various gifts at the foot of the bed, gifts from professors and classmates, indicating that word had spread about what he had done that day.

"About Voldemort..." Harry began, but hesitated, unsure how to describe it. Was Voldemort dead?

He wasn't completely dead, otherwise his oath wouldn't have stood. The fact that the oath of the hunt is still in effect means Voldemort is still alive.

"Unfortunately, he will most likely return. Although his remnant soul has died this time, just as you think... he still has many fragments of his soul, perhaps which he himself put into Horcruxes..."

Dumbledore sat beside Harry's sickbed and spoke with a touch of melancholy.

"What is a Horcrux?" Harry keenly caught a word he had never heard of before.

"Oh, I'm sorry, that's how people become when they get old. Horcruxes are evil creations made with dark magic. All I can tell you is that their purpose is to allow people to sustain their lives in a pathetic way."

Dumbledore smiled apologetically, then asked Harry.

"Harry, do you know why Voldemort didn't use a spell in the end?"

"I don't know, I've been thinking about that too..."

Harry said this, and to be honest, if it were to compete with a Ravenclaw-graduate Defense Against the Dark Arts professor in spells and magic, Harry felt that even ten of him wouldn't stand a chance. But Professor Quirrell and Voldemort both abandoned magic and fought him with their bare hands, which was undoubtedly the main factor in Harry's victory and also the point that he couldn't understand the most.

"Ah, that's because... before your mother left you, she cast a final spell on you, a spell of love."

Dumbledore's expression held a hint of sadness as he slowly explained to Harry what the Love Spell was.

"Harry, no matter what, I want you to remember that love is always the most powerful magic..."

After Dumbledore finished speaking, he casually picked up a bag of candy from the pile of gifts and held it up to Harry as a gesture.

"I won't need it, please make yourself at home..."

Dumbledore didn't stand on ceremony and put the candy in his mouth.

Harry watched as the old rascal ate several candies in front of him and then began to complain about their origin and taste. He suddenly realized that this might be the main reason he was able to get the Philosopher's Stone in the basement; he didn't need it and didn't want it.

After that, Red finally understood why Dumbledore had said he would handle the House Cup properly.

"This headmaster is just blatantly adding points... Is he even human? Professor Snape must be furious!"

Red felt his face twitch slightly. He didn't know if he was holding back a laugh or was speechless at Dumbledore's antics. Dumbledore's promised solution to the deducted points was very simple: on the day of the House Cup settlement, he would directly award them a large number of points for their heroic deeds in fighting Professor Quirrell and Voldemort together. Of course, Red, Harry, and Dumbledore reached a consensus that at least Professor Quirrell was not a henchman of the Dark Lord, and that he ultimately sacrificed his life to fight against the Dark Lord.

The House Cup was rightfully won by Gryffindor, and Hufflepuff, thanks to Red's actions, surprisingly came in third instead of last place, which was a pleasant surprise for all the young Hufflepuff wizards.

"Harry, you better remember... you're not going to go back and enjoy this holiday. The Silent Bookstore is waiting for you."

Before boarding the train back to King's Cross Station, Red said this to Harry.

"Of course, barring any unforeseen circumstances, we should have a very peaceful summer vacation..."
