The Silent Bookstore Manager at Hogwarts
Chapter 23 Late Night Teaching
Are you serious?
"Yes, Reid, I hope you'll value your talent... Can I see it? It's right here."
Inside the headmaster's office, Dumbledore sat down and spoke to Red, while taking out a plate of various candies from the cabinet next to him. The variety of candies made Red swallow hard.
"Want to try some? I really like them. This is Lemon Olaf..." Dumbledore pointed to the candies on the plate. Red wasn't intimidated at all and immediately took one, unwrapped it, and popped it into his mouth.
Then he felt a sweet taste spread in his mouth that made him frown. Did Dumbledore usually eat this kind of candy? Wasn't he afraid of getting cavities or something?
Red instinctively thought of it, but then remembered that this great wizard probably had some way to avoid cavities, so he didn't ask. Instead, he turned to answering Dumbledore's first question.
"If you feel it's necessary, I don't mind... but I only know a few spells."
Red's meaning was already very clear to Dumbledore.
"Let's see then. I'm really curious too... about the talent that Professor Flitwick and Minerva both marvel at."
Dumbledore had somehow produced his wand and waved it lightly. Red felt the space in the headmaster's office expand instantly.
The old bird that looked like it was about to die, perched on the perch, looked up at Dumbledore, shook its head somewhat helplessly, and then went back to sleep.
"That's Fox, the Phoenix Bloodline... He needs some time."
Dumbledore followed Red's gaze to Fawkes and then began to explain.
"I'm very sorry to have brought you here. Please forgive an old man's curiosity."
"It's nothing. Compared to these things, Headmaster Dumbledore... I actually have a few questions I'd like to ask you."
Red stretched his shoulders, his strength gradually returning to its peak. In Dumbledore's view, Red's aura suddenly surged, as if he had torn off some kind of disguise. Magic began to swirl around him actively, as if it could be used to form spells at any moment. Even Dumbledore had never imagined that someone could use magic like this, so he looked at Red with curiosity.
"How many spells has Professor Flitwick taught you? If it's alright, maybe I can teach you a few more? He shouldn't mind."
Dumbledore seemed to have made up his mind. He gripped his wand, a burning thirst for knowledge igniting within him as he sought to see the limits of Red's talent.
"I couldn't ask for that, but what I want even more is..."
"The Seamless Stretch Spell, I made a small improvement to it, allowing it to stretch the space we are in so much, which may seem a bit profound to you right now."
Dumbledore laughed heartily, and Red gripped his own wand. The walnut wand throbbed with joy amidst the immense magical energy surrounding it. Its powerful soul had made the wand instantly submit to its master, and now it was overjoyed that its master was finally going to make good use of it.
"Levitation Charm, Glowing Charm, and a somewhat immature Transfiguration Charm. If I had to say, I'd say I'm only half-knowledgeable of Cleanse and Open the Alohomora."
Red introduced himself in this way. As a first-year wizard, he had very few spells at his disposal. Apart from the Fluorescent Light spell, which could actually form a fighting force in his hands, he didn't have any mature combat methods in the wizarding field. His best method was still to use the Transfiguration spell to create weapons and fight enemies in close combat.
"It's alright, child..." Dumbledore pondered how to proceed with the conversation, but Red interrupted him first.
"My first question, Headmaster, is, what do you think of Harry?"
Silence spread between the two, and Dumbledore remained silent as if he hadn't heard what Red had said.
Only the silent spell spread, Dumbledore demonstrated, and Red learned.

During Professor McGonagall's Transfiguration class, Red steadily completed his first Transfiguration demonstration. To be honest, his powerful soul gave him a terrifying level of control over magic. While his classmates were still struggling to turn matches into silver needles, Red had already begun to manipulate a match that had been turned into a puppet and make it dance.
"Red...Your unexpected talent and strength earn you five points from Hufflepuff for your talent and hard work."
Professor McGonagall spoke sincerely. At most, she had taught Red some of the most basic Transfiguration knowledge. You could even say that she had given Red a preview of the lesson content, but Red still managed to put on such a stunning performance right in front of her.
Red put away his wand. After the magic power from within his body and the magic power from the outside world were mixed together, his output was indeed much higher, but the stability was also much lower. However, for him now, if he used his soul essence and the wand together to cast spells, he could almost achieve 100% accurate spell casting.
As expected, Red received a lot of applause from the Hufflepuffs, who felt incredibly honored to have a classmate like him.
"Harry, how are things going on your end?"
After class, Red found Harry at the agreed-upon location. Harry was still panting, and it had to be said that the morning practice combined with the Quidditch team's training was quite strenuous for him, but Harry didn't want to give up either.
"I'm doing alright... I'm managing to keep up with the classes. Speaking of which, has anything been going on lately? You seem to be busier than me."
"Nonsense, I still have things to do at the bookstore. We'll have to find some time in a couple of days to continue cleaning the room. I think there are some things you should be able to do now."
Red nodded in satisfaction as he looked at Harry. As a diligent farmhand, Harry was now considered competent, but his potential and talent went far beyond that.
Harry took a deep breath. He felt that as a first-year wizard, he should have time to play, so he brought it up with Red.
"Red, want to try Wizard Chess? Ron recommended it to me, I think it's pretty fun."
"Okay..." Reid became curious after hearing this. What were the differences between chess played by wizards and chess played by ordinary people?
So the two borrowed a chessboard and sat down at a long table in the cafeteria to start playing chess.
"If I had to say, the biggest difference between Wizard Chess and ordinary board games would probably be that 'the pieces all have their own will,'" Harry said. But surprisingly, both sides' pieces trusted their respective players' commands without reservation.
