Peninsula: My Top-Tier Landlord
Chapter 31: Declaring Sovereignty
When Ye Fan got home from get off work in the afternoon, he changed his shoes and lay down on the sofa. He was exhausted from today.
My younger sister, Ye Xin, went to the airport around 3 PM. She should still be on the plane at this time. After she left, the rented room became quiet again.
I lay there for a while, too lazy to move, so I picked up my phone and ordered takeout. I'll just have something simple to eat today.
Ye Fan got up and sat down at his computer desk. He turned on his computer and ordered takeout while opening his live streaming app. It had been a long time since he had done a live stream, so he decided to do it for a while.
In the SM Entertainment parking lot, Bae Joo-hyun opened the passenger door, patted her face wearily, and said that she had been resting for too long and her body was sluggish.
Moreover, as soon as she arrived at the company today, these four mischievous younger sisters started teasing her in various ways, which annoyed her so much that she chased after them for a while, thus increasing her exercise.
I took my phone out of my bag to check if there were any new messages, and then I saw a message pop-up from the app with Ye Fan's nickname.
When she downloaded the software and started following Ye Fan, she specifically asked Ye Xin what his online name meant, and it left a deep impression on her.
Has he updated his video again?
With a question in mind, Bae Joo-hyun clicked on the pop-up message, and the screen switched to Ye Fan's live stream. Bae Joo-hyun blinked; she was familiar with this page. It was a live stream, and Ye Fan was eating while watching videos.
"Unnie, are you watching a video?" Kang Seulgi started the car, fastened her seatbelt, and waited for the car to warm up before driving.
"No, it's Ye Fan's live stream."
"My brother-in-law's live stream?"
Kang Seulgi leaned over for a look, and it really was! And they were even eating.
"Isn't my brother-in-law streaming on a domestic app? How did you manage to watch it, unnie?"
"I asked Xiaoxin to download it for me."
"Oh~"
Kang Seulgi drawled out the last syllable, narrowed her eyes, grinned, and looked at her older sister with a mocking expression. She had been so stubborn before, but now she had even given up.
Bae Joo-hyun is now almost desensitized to Kang Seul-gi's teasing and doesn't even glance at her anymore.
The car was now warmed up, and Kang Seulgi shifted gears and drove away from the parking space.
"What is my brother-in-law livestreaming? It's not like it's a mukbang, is it?"
"No, it seems like it was just a simple broadcast. Eating was probably just something I did on the side, since I don't understand Chinese anyway," Bae Joo-hyun replied, adding that she only watched the general part of the broadcast.
"Then why don't you go learn Chinese from your brother-in-law? Isn't he a Chinese teacher?"
"And it can also assert sovereignty, right? Didn't Xiaoxin say that there are quite a few girls eyeing her at the organization where her brother-in-law works?" Director Kang Seul-ki pointed with her little finger, having come up with another good idea.
Bae Joo-hyun accepted the suggestion to learn Chinese, as it would be useful when she went to events in China and could also answer many questions from Chinese fans. But that last sentence...
"What do you mean by asserting sovereignty? We're not really a couple. Besides... wouldn't that be like telling everyone that we're together?" Bae Joo-hyun retorted, not knowing she couldn't guarantee that others wouldn't spread the word.
"Then let your brother-in-law become your private tutor. Go directly to their agency and discuss it with him. This way, you can not only achieve your goal but also learn Chinese and spend more time with your brother-in-law," Kang Seulgi suggested.
They're not as busy with schedules as they were when they first debuted. The company's resources are more focused on younger groups, so they'll have plenty of time to rest after a busy period.
Bae Joo-hyun frowned slightly. She actually thought the plan was pretty good. Turning to glance at Seulgi, she saw her trying to suppress a laugh, a black line appearing on her forehead. She said, "You're not thinking of some crazy idea again, are you?"
"How could that be, unnie? I was just suggesting it to you. Whether you do it or not is up to you. You're accusing me of something," Kang Seulgi shook her head, looking aggrieved.
"Really? But it still seems suspicious." Bae Joo-hyun smacked her lips, looking at Seulgi with suspicion. This younger sister's ability to cause trouble was no less than the other three.
"Unnie, what's so suspicious? Can't people trust each other a little more?"
With a click of her tongue, Bae Joo-hyun withdrew her gaze, ignoring her younger sister. She left Ye Fan's live stream and began replying to messages.
Kang Seulgi covered her mouth with one hand, hiding the corners of her mouth that were turning up. She had already made her suggestion, and this older sister hadn't explicitly refused, which meant there was a chance. She was just waiting for the moment when the older sister would prove her wrong.
After streaming for an hour and finishing his meal, Ye Fan ended the broadcast, logged back into the streaming software, and started recording videos. He edited videos until midnight and then released the latest episode before taking a shower. He didn't reply to many messages. After showering, he went straight to bed and fell asleep quickly, exhausted from the day.
September arrived, and the weather remained hot. Ye Fan continued his routine of going home after get off work to livestream and record videos, living a peaceful yet fulfilling life.
Ye Fan's chats with Bae Joo-hyun were mostly about everyday things. Red Velvet was currently in their comeback period, and they were busy, so they chatted much less frequently, which made Ye Fan happy to have some free time.
"Ye Fan, your sister went back?"
"Yes, I went back a few days ago." Ye Fan nodded, answering Wu Yingying's question.
Leaning back, Ye Fan twirled the ballpoint pen between his nimble fingers and said, "Sister Wu, why are you asking this?"
"Have you forgotten what you said before?" Wu Yingying rested her chin on her hand, looking at Ye Fan with a smile. Was this guy pretending or had he really forgotten?
But he's really hard to win over. Even trying to win him over through his sister hasn't made much progress. He's a real tough nut to crack.
"What did I say?" Ye Fan asked, looking completely bewildered.
Seeing that Ye Fan didn't seem to be faking it, Wu Yingying said helplessly, "You said before that you would invite us over after your sister went back, and you've already forgotten in less than half a month?"
Ye Fan thought back for a moment and realized there really was such a thing, but he forgot about it after he got back, mainly because he was too busy. He smiled awkwardly and said, "I really forgot. How about Saturday then?"
Today is Wednesday, and we have three more days to prepare, so it's not entirely unexpected.
"Okay, then it'll be Saturday. Do you need any help?"
"No need, you can just come directly when the time comes, there's no need for help." Ye Fan shook his head, the kitchen space wasn't big enough for two people to squeeze in.
"Okay, it's a date for Saturday then. I'll be going to try Chef Ye's feast on an empty stomach." Wu Yingying winked playfully at Ye Fan.
"Okay." Ye Fan smiled and nodded, unmoved.
Ye Fan checked the time; it was just past the end of the workday. He put down his pen, stood up, and said, "It's time. I'll head back now, Sister Wu."
"Okay, see you tomorrow."
"See you tomorrow."
As soon as Ye Fan left, Kim Eun-soo walked up to Wu Yingying and said with a smile, "Unnie, haven't you won her over yet?"
She was almost ready to give up. Ye Fan was very slow to reply to messages and didn't seem to want to continue the conversation. She couldn't even get him to agree to meet her.
Every time Ye Fan was invited, he would ask who would be there. If there were many people, he would go; if there were only two people, he would make an excuse to decline.
"Not yet, but I won't give up so easily. The harder it is to conquer, the more satisfying it will be to conquer." Wu Yingying clenched her fists and revealed a mischievous smile.
