Witch Training Manual: My Water Magic Is Wrong
Chapter 359 Trouble Comes
Wayne didn't say anything more and just waved his hand.
A pale blue curtain of water appeared out of thin air, instantly enveloping Lucy. The water shimmered, and the healing effects of water magic were taking hold.
Lucy's previously twisted and deformed calf is now back in place, and the bruises are visibly fading away.
The treatment ended in half a minute.
Lucy tried bending her knees and found that it didn't hurt at all.
Lucy's Current Status
Status: Grateful.
[Note: Her leg has indeed healed, but she doesn't know where her future lies. Those people are dead, but she grew up in a den of thieves and knows nothing but stealing and robbing. Where can she go if she leaves here?]
Lucy stood there, rubbing her bare feet together, and after a long silence, she finally asked in a low voice.
"Um... Father... may I... follow you from now on?"
Wayne didn't rush to answer, but instead reached into his storage bag and pulled out a pair of old but clean cloth shoes, placing them in front of her.
"Put your shoes on first, the ground is cold."
Lucy paused for a moment, then squatted down and slipped the cloth shoes, which were clearly a size too big, onto her feet.
She stood up again, still looking very reserved.
"I can do anything. I can run errands, know the way, and even keep watch for others... I don't eat much..."
After listening, Wayne neither agreed nor disagreed, but simply asked, "How old are you this year?"
"N-I don't know..."
Her gaze lowered slightly.
"All I know is that I grew up in Raven's Nest, but no one has ever told me the exact date."
Wayne sighed inwardly.
"Then follow me for now."
Lucy suddenly looked up, her eyes filled with surprise.
"……Really?"
"real."
Meanwhile, the Thieves' Guild's informant had arrived with the city guards. The informant, dressed in a drab gray shirt, squeezed in front of the guards, pointed at Wayne from a distance, and shouted to the guard captain beside him:
"Sir, it's him! He's the one who killed people in the street! Several of our brothers died at his hands! You must do us justice!"
The captain of the guard followed his gaze to Wayne, looked the unremarkable-looking young man up and down, and gave a wink to the two guards behind him: "Go over there and ask what's going on."
The two guards had just taken a step forward.
Wayne casually pulled a token from his pocket and flashed it. The captain of the guard's pupils contracted sharply.
He strode forward, stopped in front of the token, examined it carefully, and after confirming that it was a token bestowed by the king, he knelt down on one knee without saying a word.
"Greetings, Your Excellency!"
The two guards behind him, who had just taken a step, saw their captain's reaction. Although they hadn't yet seen what was engraved on the token, their bodies reacted faster than their minds, and they both knelt down on one knee.
The informant stood frozen in place, his expression as if he had been doused with a bucket of ice water, completely frozen in place.
He opened his mouth, his gaze bouncing back and forth between the kneeling guards and Wayne several times, but he couldn't squeeze out a single word for a long time.
"grown ups……?"
Ignoring his ghostly expression, Wayne glanced down at the captain of the guard still kneeling on the ground: "Get up. Today's events were the Black Order carrying out official duties. If any paperwork is needed later, it will be sent to your post."
The captain of the guard quickly stood up and responded repeatedly.
"Understood, understood. Sir, you're busy, we won't bother you any longer." He said, waving to the two guards behind him, "Let's go!"
The two guards immediately stood up and followed their captain, walking away quickly without looking back.
The informant was left standing there alone, like an abandoned wooden stake, unsure whether to leave or stay, his legs beginning to weaken.
[Thieves' Guild Informant - Character Information]
[Identity: Outer liaison officer for the Raven's Nest branch of the Thieves' Guild, nicknamed "Grey Rat".]
[Note: He had just witnessed the entire process of the guard captain kneeling. He'd been in the Raven's Nest district for over a decade and had never seen the city guards perform such a grand salute to anyone. His mind was racing, trying to find a plausible explanation for what had just happened.]
[Note 2: He handled Matt's affairs during the chaos. The Chamber of Commerce suspected Matt of embezzling something he shouldn't have, so they broke his leg and dumped him in the abandoned sewers near the flea nest to die. Gray Rat was in charge of handling this. He thought Matt was dead.]
Wayne turned his gaze to the gray rat.
Do you know Matt?
The gray mouse's pupils contracted sharply. He tensed up the instant he heard the name.
"Matt...who is Matt? I don't know anyone named Matt."
Wayne didn't immediately expose him: "Really? Then why did you have his legs broken and throw him into that abandoned sewer over there in the flea den to die?"
The gray mouse immediately knelt down and begged for mercy.
"My lord, spare my life! I really don't know anything about Matt! I really don't know anything!"
Wayne didn't respond to him, but instead glanced slightly at the six corpses that were gradually growing cold.
He added in a flat tone, "Hmm."
"Even if you don't tell them, you'll end up like them."
The gray rat's body trembled violently, and its gaze involuntarily followed Wayne's eyes, landing on the six charred corpses.
"I'll tell you! I'll tell you everything!"
He knelt on the ground, his voice trembling, speaking so fast it was as if he feared being overtaken by the seventh ray of holy light if he slowed down even a beat.
"That brat Matt was caught by our people ten days ago. The reason was that he stole something, but I don't really know what it was; the higher-ups are keeping it very secret. All I know is that it was taken from the body of a homeless man. The homeless man found it somewhere, and Matt snatched it before he even had a chance to enjoy it. When our people found him, he was half-dead. In the end, the gang decided to break his legs and throw him into the sewer to let him die."
After speaking, the gray mouse lowered its head deeply.
"My lord... that's all I know."
Wayne then continued.
"The exact location of the Thieves' Guild."
The gray mouse dared not hesitate for a moment.
"The Thieves' Guild's stronghold in Raven's Nest is located underground in the abandoned blacksmith shop, northwest of Flea Nest! The entrance is hidden in the dry well in the backyard of the blacksmith shop; there's a secret door in the well wall!"
After listening, Wayne nodded slightly.
"very good."
The gray mouse raised its head, its eyes filled with a pleading and relieved expectation: "My lord... I've already told you... can you spare my life now?"
Wayne nodded.
"Can."
A look of relief flashed in the gray rat's eyes, and he slumped to the ground as if all his strength had been drained.
The next second, a ball of white holy fire ignited above his head. The flames then rapidly spread along his outline. In the exact same way as the previous six, silently and without a trace, without even a struggle, he was reduced to a charred corpse in just a few breaths.
