Witch Training Manual: My Water Magic Is Wrong
Chapter 15 Using a borrowed knife to kill
The old bishop's eyes were fixed on Wayne.
"The black market has everything," Wayne said. "Weapons, intelligence, people, lives. And medicine."
He held up the medicine bottle so the old bishop could see it clearly.
"This bottle of medicine cost me two hundred Vite Shields. The black market dealer said it came from the capital, and the recipe has been lost for a long time. It's called 'One Night of Fireworks'."
The old bishop's eyes widened even more.
"Drink this, and you'll be able to stand up again in two days," Wayne said. "It will allow you to speak, walk, and live like a normal person for a month."
The old bishop made a rapid sound in his throat.
"One month later," Wayne paused, "he died."
The room fell silent for a moment.
The old bishop's eyes were fixed on the bottle of medicine.
Wayne looked at him.
Are you in pain?
The old bishop's eyes darted around, his throat made increasingly rapid sounds, and his whole body trembled. He tried desperately to move his lips, but no sound came out; only saliva dripped from the corners of his mouth, running down his cheeks onto the pillow.
Wayne pushed the medicine bottle forward.
"If you're in pain, let me know. I'll give you the medicine."
The old bishop's eyes nearly bulged out.
He tried desperately to move his lips and make a sound, but he couldn't do anything, and his expression became more and more anxious.
Wayne looked at him.
"oh."
"I forgot."
"You can't speak."
The old bishop's eyes were practically spitting fire.
Wayne took the medicine bottle back and placed it on his lap.
"Here's what we'll do," he said. "If you want this medicine, blink three times."
The old bishop blinked immediately.
Two times.
Three times.
She blinked quickly and urgently, as if afraid he would change his mind.
Wayne looked at him.
Are you sure?
The old bishop blinked three more times.
Wayne stood up and walked to the bedside. He bent down, supporting the old bishop's neck with one hand and bringing the medicine bottle to his lips with the other.
"Drink it."
The medicine was poured in.
The old bishop's throat bobbed as he swallowed every last drop.
Wayne released his grip, letting the old bishop's nape fall back onto the pillow.
The old bishop lay on the bed, his eyes wide open, his chest heaving violently. His fingers twitched, his toes twitched, his lips moved—his body, which hadn't moved for three years, was slowly regaining sensation.
Wayne stood by the bed, looking down at him.
"It will take you about three days to fully recover."
The old bishop stared at him, making muffled sounds in his throat.
"In three days, you'll be able to stand up," Wayne said. "You'll be able to talk, walk, and go find those who owe you and settle the scores."
The old bishop's eyes were filled with gratitude.
Wayne met his gaze.
"I'm going to Frosttown tomorrow. Kasa signed the appointment letter, sending me to my death."
The old bishop's eyelid twitched.
"So..." Wayne paused, "Take these three days to rest well. After three days, what you want to do is your own business."
He put the empty medicine bottle back into his sleeve.
May the goddess bless you.
Wayne turned and walked out.
As I reached the door, I heard a hoarse sob behind me.
Not the painful kind.
It was the kind of sobbing that came from someone who had been holding it in for so long and was finally able to let out a cry.
Wayne paused in his tracks.
He didn't turn around.
Lifting the curtain, Elena was still in the yard.
The sound of the curtain being lifted startled the people in the courtyard.
Elena was standing by the clothesline, tiptoeing as she hung a wet garment on it. Hearing the noise, she turned around, her gaze falling on Wayne.
"Is the Mass finished?"
Wayne nodded.
"It's done."
Elena smiled, shook out the clothes in her hands, and draped them over the rope. It was a thin undergarment, the fabric semi-transparent, soaked with water and clinging to the rope, revealing its original outline.
She moved very slowly.
When she stood on tiptoe, the hem of her clothes rose up, and her arms were raised high, making her white breasts immediately visible.
After she finished putting on the last piece of clothing, she turned around and said.
"Father Wayne," she said, "since you've come all this way, why not have a cup of tea before you leave?"
Wayne looked at her.
"No need, madam."
Elena took two steps closer.
"Why not?" she said with a smile, her eyes crinkling. "You went to all this trouble to see my paralyzed husband, to attend Mass, to chant sutras, and to put in so much effort. As his wife, I can't even offer him a cup of tea. People will laugh at me if they find out."
Wayne hadn't had a chance to leave yet.
Elena had already walked up to him and stopped.
She looked up at him.
"Father Wayne."
"Is there something you need, Madam?"
Elena smiled.
"Can't I even offer you a cup of tea if there's nothing else?"
As she spoke, she went inside.
"Wait a moment, I'll go make some tea."
Wayne had no choice but to sit down at the stone table outside the courtyard.
The panel reappeared.
Name: Elena
[Current status: Just finished showering, hair still damp. Deliberately dressed lightly. Deliberately not wearing an undershirt. Deliberately set up the clothesline in the most conspicuous spot in the yard. The clothes I just wore were all deliberately wet, taken out of the closet.]
[Note: She absolutely must keep you here today; if all else fails, she'll have to experience her blessing. Kasa said this morning that you're going to Frosttown tomorrow and will most likely never return. Today is her last chance.]
[Note 2: She didn't mean to hurt you; she just wanted you.]
[Note 3: A lonely housewife whose body has been emptied of its vacuum]
Wayne picked up his teacup and took a sip.
Elena watched his actions, and her smile deepened.
"Is it good?"
Wayne put down his cup.
"Please speak frankly, Madam."
Elena blinked.
"Speak plainly?"
"right."
Elena tilted her head to look at him.
"Then I'll be frank."
She paused.
I want you.
As he spoke, he grabbed Wayne's hand and lunged forward.
Wayne was caught off guard by the attack.
He hadn't expected this woman to be so thirsty and so direct. Just moments ago in the courtyard, she was putting on airs about drinking tea, but now she was making her move. Her warm body pressed against his, her soft flesh against his chest, and the scent of her fresh bath filled his nostrils.
"lady."
Wayne's voice was steady.
"This is not appropriate for you."
Elena looked up, her eyes bright, a smile playing on her lips.
"Why isn't it suitable?"
Wayne looked at her.
"You are the bishop's wife."
"The bishop?" Elena chuckled. "That cripple?"
Wayne didn't say anything.
Elena moved even closer.
"Father Wayne, do you know what those women outside are saying about you?"
Wayne did not answer.
Elena continued, "They say your hands have magic powers, and your healing abilities are incredible... I want to test just how powerful they are today."
"Madam," Wayne's voice remained steady, "that's not magic, it's my water magic. It's mainly used for healing and soothing."
Elena blinked.
"Yes, yes, yes, it's the one that the woman outside was talking about."
She grabbed his hand and pressed it against herself.
"I want one too, the best one."
Three minutes later.
Wayne left the yard.
The door closed gently behind him.
Elena sat on the ground beside the stone table, not moving for a long time. It wasn't that she couldn't stand up, but she simply felt that sitting and enjoying the scenery was better.
The yard was quiet, with only the sound of the wind blowing through the clothesline and the clothes swaying.
Elena glanced at it and thought:
Looks like I'll have to do another round of laundry today.
