His explanation, combined with his previous acts of "heroic bravery," is logically consistent.

An ordinary citizen, in a situation of extreme danger, uses his quick thinking and vague memories to navigate the dangers. Although his courage is somewhat extraordinary, it is not entirely impossible.

The tall woman recalled Chen Geng's anxious and repeated insistence that "there is danger inside" when she had pinned him down with her legs, and it didn't seem fake.

Furthermore, his constant winking and cooperating with the act made it seem unnecessary if he were truly an accomplice.

"Officer, what this gentleman said seems to be true. He did try to warn me earlier, but I misunderstood."

Yang Yongchao stared at Chen Geng for a few seconds, then looked around the scene, and finally nodded slowly.

He had just looked at Chen Geng's information yesterday. He was a local with a house and a legitimate job, so he probably didn't have much contact with the fugitive.

Yang Yongchao smiled and patted Chen Geng's shoulder forcefully:

"Good lad! Well done, Chen Geng! Calm under pressure, quick-witted, and even helped subdue the armed robber! Your mental fortitude and adaptability are amazing! You've done a great service this time!"

"Don't worry, I'll definitely nominate you for this commendation for your act of bravery!"

Chen Geng inwardly groaned, then quickly waved his hand, his expression sincere:

"No, no, Officer Yang, really, there's no need! I just got lucky. The credit mainly goes to this heroine and all the police officers. I'm just an ordinary citizen, I don't want this fame, it's better to keep a low profile."

Upon hearing this, the tall woman glanced at Chen Geng again, her eyes thoughtful.

After completing a series of procedures, including on-site investigation, taking photos, collecting evidence, and escorting the prisoner, it was nearly 2 a.m.

Yang Yongchao took a brief statement from Chen Geng and left his contact information.

However, when asked for the tall woman's name and specific information, she did not answer directly. Instead, she walked to the side, dialed a number on her phone, whispered a few words, and then handed the phone to Yang Yongchao.

Yang Yongchao took the receiver with a puzzled look, but the voice from the other end made him straighten up instantly, his expression turning serious:

"Yes, Director Wang! Understood! Okay, I understand, don't worry!"

He put down the phone, his gaze towards the woman now carrying a subtle hint of caution, and nodded.

"Ms. Mu, you can go back now. We'll contact you again if we need anything later. Thank you for your hard work tonight."

Chen Geng didn't pay much attention to this detail; he was having a headache over how to decline the "good Samaritan" award.

Before leaving, Chen Geng and the tall woman said goodbye at the north gate of the park.

The night was deep, and the streetlights cast long shadows of the two people.

"Chen Geng, GG Company of Hanfeng Group."

Chen Geng introduced himself, saying that he felt this woman was extraordinary and that it might not hurt to get to know her.

"Are you from Hanfeng Group?" The woman seemed a little surprised, repeated the question, looked at him carefully, and nodded slightly.

"Thank you for tonight... even though it started as a misunderstanding."

Her tone was much gentler than before, but it still carried an innate sense of detachment.

"You're too kind. You're really skilled. I owe you a lot today. I still don't know how to address you?" Chen Geng said with a smile.

"You're not bad either, you're quick-witted."

The woman's lips curved slightly, and a faint smile bloomed on her icy face. Under the streetlights in the night, she possessed a breathtaking beauty that momentarily stunned Chen Geng.

"You've been implicated because of me today, but you'll be rewarded later."

"There's really no need to talk about money," Chen Geng shook his head, half-joking and half-seriously.

"Besides, with my fighting ability, it's really hard to say who will save whom tonight. Let's just consider it making friends and helping each other out in an emergency."

"Make friends?" The tall woman seemed to find the word interesting, and smiled again, the meaning of which was hard to decipher.

"I've remembered what happened today. We... should meet again soon. Then, you'll naturally know my name."

After saying that, she stopped talking and turned to walk towards a black Range Rover.

Chen Geng watched the expensive car merge into the night traffic, shook his head, and walked towards his Lincoln Z parked on the side of the road.

This woman was mysterious, with an intimidatingly strong aura, yet she seemed to have no ill intentions. Her last words… "We'll meet again soon?" At Hanfeng?

The lights in the interrogation room of the branch office were harsh and glaring.

Zhang Dabiao and Li Wu were imprisoned separately.

Yang Yongchao rubbed his throbbing temples and stared at Zhang Dabiao, who looked dejected behind the one-way mirror.

The interrogation lasted for several hours. The two men were tough as nails. They admitted to the case in Luohu Park and also confessed to several other cases on the previous wanted list. However, when it came to key information such as their supplier, smuggling channels, and whether they had any accomplices, they started to play dumb and argue irrationally.

"Captain Yang, Captain Zhang from the Criminal Investigation Division is here, he's outside."

A colleague pushed the door open and came in, speaking in a low voice.

Yang Yongchao frowned, got up and walked out of the interrogation room.

In the corridor, Zhang Guowei, the deputy captain of the criminal investigation detachment, stood with his hands behind his back, looking at him with a half-smile.

Zhang Guowei was ten years older than Yang Yongchao. He was more experienced and had solved many major cases, but he was somewhat arrogant.

"Yongchao, not bad, you caught two tough guys without making a sound."

Zhang Guowei patted Yang Yongchao on the shoulder with considerable force.

"The 'Tiger and Fierce Tiger' duo, they're on the provincial authorities' radar. We've been tracking them for half a month without getting a hold of them, and you've struck gold. Shall I take them with me?"

Yang Yongchao dodged his hand and said, "Captain Zhang, we arrested the person, and we handled the crime scene first. The interrogation is just starting to make progress. According to regulations, we can continue the investigation."

"Regulations?" Zhang Guowei scoffed.

"Yongchao, don't bring this up with me. These two cases involve multiple violent crimes and may even involve cross-border criminal gangs. They are standard criminal investigation cases and should be handled by our criminal investigation department."

"You guys in the public security department are good at cracking down on prostitution and gambling, and mediating disputes. But for these big cases, let the professionals do what they're good at. Don't let the leads go cold, or you get something out of the investigation that you can't handle. It'll make everyone look bad. I'll talk to Director Wang."

Yang Yongchao's expression darkened slightly; he wasn't made of clay either.

"Captain Zhang, if you take him away now, it will disrupt the interrogation process. What if we miss crucial information? Who will be responsible?"

"Okay, let us finish the trial tonight, and at 9 a.m., regardless of whether there's a breakthrough or not, I will hand over all the case files to you."

Zhang Guowei stared at Yang Yongchao for a few seconds, saw his determination, and snorted:

"Okay, I'll give you one night. I'll send someone to pick up the person and the case file at 9 a.m.

"Yongchao, don't say I didn't warn you, these two are like rocks in a latrine, smelly and hard, you can't pry them open. Don't waste your energy." After saying that, he turned and left with his two men.

Yang Yongchao watched his retreating figure, took a deep breath, and said, "Did you all hear that? Only one night left. Intensify our efforts, focus on that Li Wu; he's relatively weaker. We must dig out some solid evidence!"
