At thirty, I started my comeback from the intelligence system.
Chapter 29: Is it okay to make things up?
20 minutes ago, in a remote old public toilet.
Yang Yongchao raised his hand to signal, and several plainclothes colleagues silently dispersed, sealing off all possible exits.
He took a deep breath and shouted sternly, "Listen up, you inside! You're surrounded! Drop your weapons immediately, put your hands behind your heads, and come out!"
The shout startled several night birds.
The public restroom was deathly silent, with only the mournful sound of the wind blowing through the broken windows.
"Captain Yang, could the intelligence be wrong? Or has that smuggler tricked us?"
A young police officer lowered his voice, sweat beading on his forehead.
This operation was initiated by their public security detachment after they accidentally caught a smuggler during a routine investigation. They took action directly after receiving the tip, which was somewhat "overstepping their bounds." If they had failed to catch him, the criminal investigation detachment would have been full of sarcastic remarks.
Yang Yongchao didn't say a word, but gestured behind him, kicked open the half-closed wooden door, and rushed in first!
The beams of flashlights crisscrossed the darkness, revealing only a mess of instant noodle boxes, cigarette butts, and empty bottles scattered on the floor. Moldy bedding was piled in the corner, but there was no one there.
"Damn it!" a police officer couldn't help but mutter under his breath, "Those two bastards got away again? Now look what's happened! Zhang Guowei from the Criminal Investigation Division will be laughing at us for six months straight! He'll say our Public Security Division is only good at cracking down on gambling, and utterly incompetent at handling big cases!"
Yang Yongchao's expression was also not good, but he squatted down and carefully examined the household garbage and footprints.
"The person just left; the tracks are very fresh. They're definitely still in the park. Search! Expand the search area!"
His tone was resolute and unwavering.
Regardless of merit, he couldn't live with himself letting these two fugitives with serious crimes slip away right under his nose.
As they approached the bamboo path, a dark figure tumbled out, almost crashing into them.
Yang Yongchao's spirits lifted, and he pointed his gun at the dark figure!
"Don't kill me! Please don't kill me! I'll do anything! I'll give you all my money..."
The dark figure was Zhao Xiaoyu, who had just escaped.
She was clearly terrified and mistook Yang Yongchao and his plainclothes officers for accomplices of the criminals, crying and begging for mercy incoherently.
"Police! Don't be afraid!" Yang Yongchao realized he had made a mistake when he saw that it was a girl.
He showed his identification, quickly calmed the person down, and inquired about the situation.
Upon learning that at least two armed thugs had taken a tall, brave woman hostage, his heart sank. He immediately set up an encirclement and requested backup from his superiors—the other side was armed!
However, when they approached silently and, with the help of the bamboo forest for cover, saw the scene, the situation was unexpected.
A tall, burly thug was pointing a homemade pistol at a tall woman whose hands were tied behind her back, while another gaunt thug leered beside her. A man who looked somewhat familiar, dressed in sportswear, stood slightly in front of the thugs, seemingly saying something.
Yang Yongchao made a hand gesture, signaling his team members to take advantageous positions and lock their guns onto the target.
Just then, the man in the tracksuit suddenly lunged to grab the gun! Unfortunately, he failed!
We can't wait any longer! Yang Yongchao suddenly fired a shot into the air!
"Bang! Bang!"
A sharp gunshot ripped through the night!
"Damn it!" Zhang Dabiao and Li Wu were terrified. Zhang Dabiao instinctively turned his gun towards the direction from which the gunshot came!
"Police! Don't move! Drop your weapons!"
Yang Yongchao shouted sharply, while simultaneously aiming at Zhang Dabiao's gun-wielding hand!
However, someone was faster than him!
The tall woman, who had been bound and seemed powerless to resist, suddenly sprang up like a cheetah that had been poised for a long time the moment the gun went off!
With his hands bound behind his back, he somehow managed to break free and, with a swift and powerful over-the-shoulder throw, lifted Li Wu, who was right next to him, like a broken sack, and slammed him hard onto the muddy ground!
At the same time, her long and powerful right leg transformed into a black shadow, striking Zhang Dabiao's wrist holding the gun with astonishing speed and precision!
"Crack!" The sickening sound of bone breaking was clearly audible.
"Ah—!" Zhang Dabiao screamed in agony as his homemade pistol flew out of his hand.
The tall woman's movements did not pause at all, as if she had poured all the shock and anger she had felt from being coerced into her fists and feet.
His fists flew like meteors, his legs like steel whips, raining down on the two unarmed thugs. He targeted their joints and ribs with ruthless and fierce moves, completely in the style of real combat. The two men could only scream and parry, instantly losing their fighting ability.
Chen Geng reacted quickly, rushing forward to help pin down Li Wu, who was still struggling to pull out a dagger.
Yang Yongchao and his officers rushed forward and swiftly and efficiently handcuffed the two limp criminals.
"Madam, are you alright?" Yang Yongchao looked at the tall woman who had stopped and was slightly out of breath, his eyes filled with shock.
This skill level is definitely not that of an ordinary martial artist.
"It's alright, thank you for arriving in time, officer."
The tall woman let out a soft breath, quickly tidied her messy hair and clothes, and regained her cool and composed demeanor, though her cheeks were slightly flushed from the intense exercise.
She glanced at Chen Geng, who was covered in dirt and dusting himself off, with a complicated expression.
"Chen Geng?" Yang Yongchao only then recognized the man in the tracksuit as an acquaintance and was even more surprised. "What are you doing here?"
"I... was jogging last night when I heard some strange noises over here, so I came to check it out..."
Chen Geng scratched his head, speaking somewhat vaguely.
He can't very well say that he came to save people after reading a "script".
"Officer! This kid's a smuggler! He's a traitor!" Even with his face swollen like a pig's head, Zhang Dabiao, handcuffed and handcuffed, still shouted hoarsely, "He just said it himself! He even knows our names! Damn it, this kid lied to us! He's definitely trying to double-cross us!"
Li Wu, gritting his teeth against the pain, chimed in, "Yes! He knows everything! Officer, arrest him! He's an accomplice!"
Whoosh! All eyes were once again focused on Chen Geng.
Yang Yongchao's eyes were sharp as knives, and the tall woman also slightly furrowed her brows.
Chen Geng's heart skipped a beat, but his face quickly contorted into a look of utter injustice, as if he were both laughing and crying, pointing at the two thugs:
"Damn it! You two can't just make things up like that! I only told you this quick-thinking lie to save this beautiful lady!"
"If I were really one of your accomplices, why wouldn't I run away when the police come? Would I help restrain people? Am I crazy?"
He turned to Yang Yongchao, quickening his pace, trying to appear both "frank" and "fearful":
"Officer Yang, I was just passing by! I heard this girl screaming for help, and then I saw this fat guy with a gun. I was terrified! But I couldn't just stand by and watch..."
"I remembered the wanted poster that was pushed to my phone a couple of days ago. It seemed to have their photos on it, and I vaguely remembered their names, so I gritted my teeth and shouted out loud, hoping to scare them and see if I could find an opportunity."
"Those 'Brother Qiang' and 'snakehead' were just things they were muttering during their argument. I overheard them and quickly started making things up, thinking I'd keep them calm and prevent them from harming the hostages, then find an opportunity to call the police or create chaos..."
"Who would have thought you gods would descend to earth and arrive so just in time! There's no Brother Qiang here. Didn't you two say you knew 'Brother Fei'? I was just making this up!"
