The terrifying heavens inside the box

Chapter 33 is not over yet.

Wang Hao had just sat down at the worktable, ready to think carefully about how to modify Freddy.

Just then, a phone call came in.

Upon seeing the name noted on the number, he suddenly slapped his forehead.

"Oh no! How could I have forgotten about that!"

Wang Hao quickly answered the phone, put it to his ear, and said with a smile, "Hello, Mom."

"Why haven't you called home in so long?"

"Mom, I've been so busy! Business at the studio has been pretty good lately, I almost forgot about it!"

"It's good to be busy. It's not easy for you to earn money these days. Earn more money so you can get married later..."

Upon hearing this familiar marriage-urging segment, Wang Hao quickly coughed to change the subject.

"What's wrong? I hear you coughing?"

"Ahem, it's nothing. Um... Mom, how's Dad doing?"

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone before a soft sigh was heard, and the person on the other end said:

"It's okay. Your dad said not to worry about him, it's nothing serious."

Upon hearing that sigh, Wang Hao's smile vanished, and his heart sank.

He knows his family members too well.

If there's really nothing wrong, I'll just urge him to come home and visit when he has time.

Instead of trying to brush it off with just a "Don't worry" like they do now.

"Mom, tell me the truth, what's really going on with Dad?" Wang Hao asked in a low voice.

The mother paused, but couldn't help but say, "It's that old back problem again. Your dad said to just bear with it and it'll pass."

He held his phone, remaining silent for a long time.

Without needing to say more, Wang Hao already understood.

They're just being reluctant to spend money.

The elderly couple were ordinary retired workers. Although they had some pensions, they were used to being frugal their whole lives.

He fell in love with model making at first sight and was determined to learn the craft.

Everyone else thought this was a waste of time and energy.

But the elderly couple never stopped him; in fact, they supported him in pursuing his studies.

We scrimped and saved and let him do whatever he wanted.

Now that I'm old and my health is failing, I'm reluctant to spend money on medical treatment.

This isn't about being fine; it's clearly about being afraid of dragging him down.

Wang Hao covered his forehead and took a deep breath.

"Mom, tell Dad."

"Medical treatment shouldn't be delayed; I'll take care of the money."

As he spoke, he involuntarily glanced at the box on the worktable.

Wang Hao urged him a few more times until he heard someone on the other end say, "Okay, I'll go right now."

After hanging up the phone, I glanced at my account balance and sighed.

"It's still not enough!"

"Short videos are still too slow to monetize... What about longer videos? I remember the prices for longer videos seem to be higher?"

"Although I now have a few short video works to back me up, I haven't proven myself in other markets yet. Plus, since it's a miniature subject, the platform isn't sure about the market response."

"Trying to get a high price from someone just because you have a long novel... there's no such thing as a free lunch!"

But Wang Hao knew the truth in his heart.

Don't be fooled by the fact that everyone says the film and television industry is failing and the entertainment industry is completely dead.

It's all the same old stuff over and over again, who would want to watch it anymore?

But he's different.

Even if others can make the scenes or figures look very realistic, they are still lifeless. They may look good, but the final product will always feel a bit inferior.

If the plot is even a little bland, it will bore the audience.

Unlike me, who directly filmed the box, and a bunch of people in the comments section clearly projected themselves into the scene.

But what should we film?

Wang Hao frowned, then suddenly noticed something inside the box, his eyes widening slightly in surprise.

"Is this... a funeral?"

……

Chunmu Town Cemetery.

"Dust to dust, ashes to ashes."

"May God bless this young soul."

The cemetery was surrounded by family members and friends who had come to bid farewell to the deceased.

The pastor, holding a Bible, stood beside the coffin and softly read the eulogy:

"However, we must remember its warning."

"If we do not judge others, we will not be judged."

May Rodley rest in peace.

Upon seeing this, Wang Hao subconsciously picked up the small plastic box on the worktable.

He stared at the red and green "grains of rice" inside.

"Hiss... Wasn't Freddy already captured by me? How come Rhodes is still dead? Who did it?"

Inside the box, Nancy, who had already walked to the car outside the church, was also shouting at her parents:

"Why don't you believe me? I'm telling the truth! That big hole in the roof was made when Freddy was taken away."

"That murderer! He's still at large!"

"Nancy, how do you know the name Freddy?"

Noticing the obvious tension on Sheriff Thompson and Maggie's faces, she immediately guessed:

"You...you know Freddy? Who is he?!"

Nancy thought the matter was over once Freddy was arrested.

But it wasn't until news of Rod's death arrived that she realized things were far more complicated than they seemed.

Although the police determined it to be a suicide.

Nancy, however, still harbored doubts about Freddy.

After all, she didn't know whether Freddy had been captured or escaped again, and she had no clue about the current situation, so she could only tell her parents the truth.

"He was burned to a crisp!"

"He was wearing a strange hat and a dirty red and green sweater."

"And they're wearing gloves that look like giant claws!"

Upon hearing Nancy's description, Sheriff Thompson clenched his fists.

Maggie, standing to the side, trembled violently, her limbs went weak, and she almost collapsed to the ground. She only managed to stay upright by leaning against the car.

Once Nancy was in the car, the sheriff looked at Maggie:

"You'd better keep her at home for a few days until she regains her senses."

But this time, Maggie rejected her ex-husband's suggestion:

"No! I have a better way."

"I need to find someone to help me!"

……

Looking inside the box, Nancy and her daughter drove the car away.

Wang Hao also casually put down the box containing Freddy.

"What's going on? Freddy, have you been possessed by Kayako too? And you're even creating clones?"

He took out his phone and searched for more information about the setting of A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Don't look at it, look at it!

It turns out Freddy Krueger retconned the book.

The production company recklessly retconned the original text and changed the established settings in order to make a sequel... adding a bunch of other settings and discarding a bunch of other settings.

Wang Hao was so confused looking at his phone that he couldn't figure out what Freddy's abilities were or which parts of the story had been retconned.

"No wonder everyone says the official version is killing off fan fiction; they're right."

He rubbed his temples and glanced again at the small box containing "Freddy" on the worktable.

"Let's wait and see. Maybe the inspiration for this film will come from Freddie's big project."

With that, Wang Hao put down his phone and continued looking into the box.

Inside the box, Maggie Thompson had already taken Nancy to the hospital to seek help from a psychiatrist.

Upon hearing that they had been plagued by nightmares for a long time, the other party immediately took them to the EEG room.

Nancy lay down on the bed in the sleep room, and the nurses placed electrode pads on both sides of her forehead.

The doctor was operating the equipment next door, explaining to Maggie how the machine monitors and records brainwave values.
