Chapter 59 "Taking a Car"

The arrival of the Starfire completely saved the already collapsing situation for humanity, and even gave them the upper hand.

The orcs were filled with fear and dread. They had no idea why such a strange steel behemoth had entered the battlefield, nor did they understand why its firepower was so fierce.

Many orcs attempted to retaliate, but their arrows bounced off, broke, and slid away in vain when they struck the Starfire's armor. Several fearless orcs brandished grappling hooks and grappling hooks, trying to board the deck, but they were caught in tires halfway up and instantly killed.

Before long, their morale collapsed completely, and they scattered and ran away.

"Thank you for your generous assistance, sir!" The human general sincerely expressed his gratitude to Li Xin.

After a quick cleanup of the battlefield, Li Xin had the Starfire ship carry the wounded soldiers and head towards the capital following the general's instructions—he planned to reach an agreement with the kingdom as soon as possible in order to exploit oil and gas resources on the spot.

The capital city isn't far, only a couple hundred kilometers away, and you can get there in less than half a day.

This is a somewhat old capital city, with mottled city walls and dusty towers, but its majestic outline and long city walls still reveal its former grandeur.

Through the general's introduction, Li Xin met King Edras.

This was a dignified middle-aged man with a straight back and an imposing presence.

However, at this moment, his brows were furrowed and his expression was full of worry, and the wrinkles at the corners of his eyes were much deeper than those of people his age.

Li Xin could roughly guess why he was worried: the orc army was almost at the foot of the capital, and the human kingdom's situation was probably really not good.

Beside the king stood a dwarf wizard, who looked much like the one in the novels, movies, and animations, with a long white beard, wearing a gray robe and a topped wizard's hat.

"This is Lord Cadlin, the most revered and admired wizard in the world." The king stepped aside and raised his hand to introduce him to Li Xin.

Finally, he added one more sentence.

"He is also a messenger of God."

"God?" Li Xin wondered.

He subconsciously looked up at the sky, his gaze shifting uncertainly.

Does God really exist in this world?

The King and Cadlin showed great interest in Li Xin and his group of strangers who had traveled through time and space, as well as the mobile city they were traveling in.

"Just one machine wiped out over three thousand orcs?" the king exclaimed. "What an incredible war machine!"

"We still live and work on that place," Li Xin added.

The king was eager to continue the conversation, but Cadlin stopped him.

"Your Majesty, the meeting is about to begin, and everyone is waiting for us."

"A meeting? What kind of meeting?" Li Xin asked in surprise.

......

"The world we live in is now at a critical juncture."

In the center of the hall, an old human king spoke in a deep voice.

"The great war three years ago was foolish; none of us emerged as winners. We suffered heavy casualties and lost our dominance in the world."

Looking around, dozens of monarchs sat in the hall, representing the three races of humans, elves, and dwarves.

The human kings wore heavy brocade robes, their family crests embroidered on their chests. The elven monarchs had cascading silver hair, wore crowns woven from branches and leaves, and had indifferent and detached expressions. The dwarven kings were clad in armor, their beards braided into thick braids, and warhammers, symbols of power, were strapped to their waists.

Li Xin was among them; he had been specially invited by Kadrin. Among the group of monarchs dressed in ancient and luxurious attire, he, the lord of the mobile city, stood out from the crowd, attracting several glances.

After listening carefully for a while, he finally figured out what was going on.

The magical world is home to countless races, among which humans, elves, and dwarves are considered the most powerful. Humans hold a dominant position in the world, while elves and dwarves are slightly less prominent, unwilling to lag behind.

For a long time, the three tribes have been engaged in various open and covert struggles, accumulating deep-seated resentment.

With the intentional or unintentional instigation of various forces, the great war in the magical world broke out three years ago. All three forces suffered heavy casualties and were never able to recover.

Various alien races that were originally suppressed also took the opportunity to rise up, plunging the world into chaos.

Worst of all, the Dark Lord Angmar, the greatest enemy in the history of the magical world, is returning.

A thousand years ago, he conquered the entire magical world and ruled it tyrannically. Later, at the call of the gods, all races of the world united in their hatred of the enemy and fought a bloody war for decades, finally crushing Angmar's empire and successfully killing him.

But this demon king had already prepared a contingency plan; he spared no effort to create a divine artifact called the "Life-Protecting Box." Even if he died, his soul would automatically return to the Life-Protecting Box to recuperate and await the day he would make a comeback.

Now, the time has come. The three races have declined from their peak due to the Great War in the Magic World, plunging the world into chaos.

Angmar's old forces seized the opportunity to make a comeback, building an unprecedented orc army day after day, conquering cities and seizing territories, and growing stronger day by day.

The Demon King has not yet returned, but his shadow has already enveloped the entire world.

"Now, this is our only chance."

The old human king then placed something on the table.

That was Angmar's casket.

Its entire body presents a deep bronze color, and every inch of its surface is imbued with an indescribable sense of vicissitude. The box itself is covered with intricate patterns.

Upon closer inspection, one can even faintly hear those seductive whispers that subconsciously captivate and even make one blindly obey.

"Thump! Thump!"

A dull knocking sound came from nearby, and Li Xin and the others suddenly came to their senses—it turned out that the wizard Cadlin was forcefully tapping his staff a few times.

"Everyone be careful, don't be bewitched." The old dwarf wizard said as he stepped forward, pulled a piece of grayish coarse cloth from his sleeve and wrapped it up, his movements as cautious as if he were approaching a coiled venomous snake.

"To possess such power merely in slumber." His tone carried a hint of barely suppressed trepidation. "If he were to truly awaken, he would be extraordinary."

The old human kingdom leader nodded slightly, then continued speaking in a deep voice.

"What we have to do is take it to the end of the world and burn it to ashes with the eternal fire there."

After he finished speaking, the room fell silent.

Li Xin was initially puzzled, but after quietly asking Kadrin, he understood what was going on.

Unlike Earth, which has numerous continents, the magical world consists of only one colossal continent of unprecedented size. The Land of the End is located at the westernmost edge of this continent, and starting from the Kingdom of Edlas, it essentially traverses the entire magical world.

Along the way, they would pass through countless territories of alien races, treacherous terrain, and areas not even marked on maps, inhabited by powerful creatures.

"To escort them safely, we would need at least tens of thousands of men, but we currently have absolutely no troops available!" A human king shook his head.

"Even if they manage to gather them, they'll be easy targets. This will definitely attract the attention of Angmar's old guard," a dwarf king chimed in. "Don't forget, there are still quite a few other races in the world who have already pledged allegiance to Angmar. If they come and harass us along the way... tsk!"

Another murmur rippled through the room, a somber atmosphere settling in.

King Edlas clapped his hands, signaling for everyone to be quiet.

"Gentlemen, perhaps we don't need to make such a big fuss," he said. "Instead of assembling a large, conspicuous escort team that can't be hidden anywhere, it would be better to form a small, elite squad. Before the various factions can react, we can quietly deliver the life-saving box."

He paused as he spoke.

"As for the squad members, they are the most outstanding warriors of our three races: Sean, Elarian, and Torg!"

With a wave of his hand, three people stood up one after another from the crowd.

Li Xin also turned his gaze in that direction.

Sean is a human ranger in his thirties, wearing leather armor with a light, old gray cloak over it, and wielding two swords.

Elarian is an elven prince, handsome in appearance and graceful in demeanor, whose weapon is an ancient longbow.

Torgh is a boisterous dwarf warrior, wearing a helmet with a broken horn, heavy armor, and carrying a heavy axe in both hands.

The monarchs couldn't help but look at each other in bewilderment.

Using a small team to fish in troubled waters? It sounds far-fetched, but it's actually quite feasible. With everyone's current resources, they can't possibly last halfway. However, if they send out such a capable team, not only will they be a small target and flexible in their actions, but they will also be able to easily avoid the eyes and ears of the alien races and the searches of the old Angmar tribes. In fact, they are more likely to arrive at their destination quietly.

Li Xin touched his chin with great interest.

I never expected that I would find myself at a conference that would decide the fate of the world so soon after I transmigrated to this world.

This is truly surprising.

"Wait a minute," an elven queen said, frowning. "This method is certainly good, but the journey is far too long. It will probably take the three of them a very long time to reach their destination."

His words immediately reminded everyone.

Even with tireless horseback riding day and night, it would take several years to master. During those years, anything could happen, and a single misstep could lead to failure.

So everyone's brows, which had finally relaxed, furrowed again.

Just then, someone suddenly spoke up with a laugh.

That was the wizard Cadlin.

"I have a good idea," he said, walking over to Li Xin and gently patting him on the shoulder. "You may not know, but this strange human lord possesses a wondrous vehicle that might be of help."

Li Xin was stunned. Was this actually related to him?

With its powerful mobility, impressive speed, fierce firepower, and ability to support long-distance migrations and development of large populations... Upon hearing Kadrin's description of the Starfire, the monarchs' eyes gradually lit up, and they occasionally whispered excitedly to each other.

"If that's the case, then it's indeed feasible."

"Yes, with such an amazing vehicle, plus Sean and his team, our chances of winning have definitely increased a lot."

Even Li Xin himself seemed to be deep in thought.

After hearing what Kadrin said, it did seem to make sense. There was no better target for this than a mobile city; it was practically tailor-made for it.

But soon, his expression froze.

This mission is indeed grand, even exhilarating, but there's really no need for me to get involved in this mess.

This means that he will have to painstakingly traverse the entire magical world, facing countless dangers along the way, and there is even the possibility that the Starfire may be destroyed.

The lively discussion in the room gradually came to an end, and everyone noticed his unnatural expression.

Kadrin patted him hard on the shoulder.

"Please help this world, stranger," he said. "God will not let you down."

"oh?"

Li Xin's eyes lit up instantly.

He immediately looked at the other person, his tone filled with impatience.

"You mean, if I help escort the life-saving box, God will give me a generous reward?"

The old dwarf wizard rolled his eyes in annoyance, then sighed.

"Yes, you can understand it that way."

Li Xin nodded and began to think carefully.

This is a god; the reward He offers must be extraordinary. Considering that, I might as well give it a try.

On the other hand, he was also very curious about this world. The elven forests, the dwarven mining cities, the human kingdoms, and those ancient ruins and magical creatures that only existed in legends—things that he could only see in movies and books before, he now had the opportunity to see in person, and it would be a great pity to miss it.

After much deliberation, he finally agreed.

A few minutes.

"Wow! I've lived this long and I've never seen such a novel thing before!" Torgue exclaimed as he stepped onto the deck of the Starfire.

The dwarf widened his eyes and shouted, stomping his feet twice as if to confirm whether the iron lump could really run.

Not only him, but also the human ranger Sean and the elf prince Elarion, who were accompanying him, looked on curiously.

Li Xin then looked at Kadrin, who had come to see him off.

"Aren't you coming along?" he asked.

The other person smiled and shook their head.

"No, I have other important things to do," he said.

"Okay." Li Xin seemed a little disappointed.

Judging from the high regard the monarchs have for Cadlin, his strength is clearly extraordinary. If he could accompany us, the Starfire would have an extra layer of protection, and we would also be able to witness firsthand the truly top-tier magical power in the world.

Kaderlin had clearly guessed his thoughts and couldn't help but smile slyly.

"Although I cannot travel with you, I can provide you with a good helper." He said, waving his hand, and a person following behind him came to him.

Upon closer inspection, Li Xin realized that the boy was a human boy who was about fifteen or sixteen years old.

"This is my apprentice Peter," he said. "He has studied under me for many years and has mastered many spells. I believe he can help you in a crucial moment."

Peter seemed somewhat uneasy.

"T-Teacher, can I really go?" he stammered, his voice trailing off. "I'm afraid I won't do well..."

Calderin tiptoed and gently patted his shoulder with a tender look in his eyes.

"Don't be nervous, Peter, just do your best. This isn't just about escorting the box, it's also about letting you see the world for yourself," he said. "And I believe you'll return as a true wizard."

With a roar, the Spark set off, carrying the world's hopes to the distance.
