Chapter 16 Highway Rush

Despite his words, Li Xin naturally didn't mean to blame his own helmsman.

Given the current urgency, it's already a pleasant surprise that Xinghuo was able to break through the encirclement.

After glancing back, his expression changed drastically, and he immediately shouted, "Everyone, find cover!"

The next second, a hail of bullets came hurtling in.

It turns out that when the giants saw their prey break through the encirclement, they all drew their guns and shot at it.

Some squinted, gripped their revolvers tightly with both hands, and aimed to fire.

Some carried double-barreled shotguns, bracing their shoulders against the stock, firing while cursing and swearing.

Even more outrageous were those who wielded long-handled submachine guns with drum magazines, pulling the trigger and holding on tightly, spraying bullets like water.

Li Xin huddled behind a nearby makeshift shelter, not daring to look up for a moment. More astonished than being suddenly surrounded was the fact that these giant civilians could carry guns so freely.

"Damn it! Is this world really this free?" he couldn't help but curse.

Given their giant-like size, the firearms they used were naturally several orders of magnitude more powerful, and the bullets were an astonishing half-meter in size.

If these humans were to be hit by even a single bullet, they would instantly turn into a blurry mass of flesh and blood; any attempt at rescue would be completely futile.

At this moment, his newly upgraded "Bone Plating" played a crucial role.

The metal plating, resembling dense bone, withstood the barrage of bullets. Although sparks flew and the sound of gunfire was constant when hit, the armor only suffered minor dents and cracks.

After a volley of bullets was fired, the giants looked at the unharmed Starfire with expressions of utter disbelief. Some giants even examined their guns closely, suspecting that something was wrong with them.

Seeing that their prey was about to escape, they all came to their senses and ran towards their respective cars.

With a roar, the Xinghuo began to speed along the highway.

On the deck, Li Xin reloaded the Flesh Butcher machine gun and adjusted the muzzle. Behind them, vehicles drove up one after another, and the giant in the driver's seat gritted his teeth and slammed the accelerator to the floor.

"This is never going to end!" he said, waving to his companions. "Hurry up and load your ammo, let's give them a good beating!"

The camera switches to a high-altitude perspective, showing the Spark as a startled toy car speeding across a massive road, followed by dozens of giant vehicles the size of mountains.

Soon, the first group of giants caught up with them.

They were riding motorcycles, and taking advantage of their agility and speed, they sped off from the convoy. The giant rider crouched low, gripped the handlebars tightly, and floored the accelerator to close the distance to the Starfire. His companion on the back seat held onto his shoulder with one hand and a stick or gun in the other, ready to pounce.

What greeted them was a single Tiger Crouching Cannon shot from the Starfire.

As the violent shockwave exploded, the two motorcycles at the forefront, poised to attack, instantly overturned. Before the giants could react, they were sent tumbling and flying towards the roadside. The ones following behind fared no better; the shockwave swept past, causing their motorcycles to tilt violently and eventually crash to the ground, leaving a trail of sparks.

A wave of unrest, a wave of up again.

Amidst the deafening roar, several more vehicles surged forward, flanking the Starfire from both sides. The giant driving the car gripped the steering wheel tightly, struggling to keep pace with it. In the back seat, his companions rolled down the windows, drew their loaded guns, and aimed them at the Starfire.

The two sides then engaged in fierce fighting on the highway. The giants' bullets swept across the Starfire, creating shockingly large bullet holes in the armor plates and occasionally blowing up multiple buildings.

The Xinghuo's counterattack was equally fierce; the heavy machine guns' tilted ammunition belts swept across the hull and windows, carving a long trail of craters. Solid shot was even more powerful, directly denting and deforming the hull.

One of the giants suddenly swerved the steering wheel, causing the car to slam sideways and crash into the Starfire! The latter lurched violently, tilting and nearly overturning. Li Xin and his companions on the deck were thrown about, some almost being flung off.

"Damn it!" he couldn't help but curse.

Ultimately, humans are always at a disadvantage when fighting giants.

A fierce chase ensued on the highway, with the giants relentlessly pursuing in their cars, while the Starfire fired furiously and swerved left and right to avoid repeated collisions with the vehicles.

With Li Xin's command, the helmsman began to accelerate again.

70, 80, 90, 100... The pointer on the dial began to soar rapidly, the city's power engine roared to its limit, and the city itself generated a violent airflow.

The giants in pursuit were equally determined, slamming the accelerator to the floor.

Just as both sides were racing at full speed, an unexpected situation suddenly appeared on the road ahead.

Those were two cars that had collided, and they were lying haphazardly in the middle of the road, blocking most of the highway.

There were two giants rolling and wrestling on the ground, probably the two drivers who had suffered from road rage.

After inadvertently catching a glimpse of the mobile city and a long convoy approaching from behind, they were stunned and abandoned their fight, quickly getting up and fleeing.

They even helped each other out during the process.

Looking at the narrow, almost dangerous gap between the two cars, and then at the convoy chasing behind, Li Xin made a decisive shout.

"Charge straight there!"

The helmsman paused for a moment, then pressed the accelerator hard without further hesitation.

The Spark hurtled past like an arrow, almost grazing the front of the two vehicles as it passed, sending a long trail of intense sparks flying from both sides of the city.

The pursuing convoy wasn't so lucky. The lead cars braked desperately, their tires leaving long, charred tracks on the ground, but they still crashed into it all at once. Before the giant inside could even recover, another violent impact came from behind—the cars behind had also failed to brake in time, crashing into it one after another.

In just over ten seconds, the highway turned into a large-scale multi-vehicle collision scene.

The sounds of horns, brakes, collisions, and shouts blended together, rising and falling in waves.

On the roadside, the two giant car owners who had been fighting earlier were also completely dumbfounded.

This time they no longer need to worry about whether their car can be repaired, because it has been completely totaled.

After a moment of stunned silence, one of the giants came to his senses and offered the other a cigarette.

"Haha, hahahaha!"

Looking at the scene behind them, everyone burst into laughter, their laughter filled with joy.

Li Xin was also laughing, but then he quickly realized something and waved his hand.

"Get off the highway quickly!"
