Full-Time Magister: Rebirth of Mo Fan as the Primordial Evil Phoenix
Chapter 6 Annual Performance Appraisal
Time always flies by at Magic High School, and the sycamore trees on campus are turning yellow once more. The annual, fate-determining assessment is approaching.
Today is the annual assessment. The annual assessment uses Star Sense Stones to measure cultivation level and partially tests magic release. It is used to select talents, assign classes, and dismiss those who do not meet the requirements.
A huge sunshade was erected on the stands directly in front of the playground, and several large triangular fans were placed under it, blowing air loudly. School leaders and today's chief examiner were sitting there.
More than 1000 students stood below the stage, receiving the sun's "baptism."
Suddenly, a low, rumbling car engine sound came from the entrance to the playground.
Two extended black Lincolns drove into the campus, crunching over the gravel road. They came to a smooth stop beside the stands. The doors opened, and several bodyguards in black suits got out first, clearing away the students who were craning their necks to get out.
Mu Zhuoyun got out of the car. He was wearing a dark gray Tang suit and carrying a black cane. He didn't look at the students around him, his chin held high, and strode towards the examiner's seat. Xue Musheng and several other homeroom teachers quickly went to greet him, bowing low and their faces full of ingratiating smiles.
Then the other car door opened.
The temperature on the previously dull playground seemed to drop several degrees suddenly.
A long, straight leg stepped out of the carriage, and Mu Ningxue stepped down. She wore a fitted white dress, and her signature long, silver-white hair was gently blown by the wind. She was so white, almost reflective, and her exquisite features were flawless. But her face was completely expressionless.
The whispers that had been mixed with complaints and discussions on the playground instantly fell silent.
She was like a block of ice that never melts, completely out of place in this sweat-drenched, chaotic playground. She followed Mu Zhuoyun up to the stands and quietly sat down in the middle leather sofa. Her eyelids were lowered, ignoring the dazed gazes from the audience.
"Brother Mu, it's an honor to have you here." The principal handed him a cup of tea.
Mu Zhuoyun took the teacup, blew on the floating leaves, and simply hummed in agreement, displaying his arrogant demeanor.
The assessment has officially begun...
"Zhang Xiaohou from Class 8."
Upon hearing his name, Zhang Xiaohou, who was sitting in the back of the line, blushed deeply. He nervously swallowed and vigorously wiped his sweaty palms on his trouser leg.
"Monkey, go ahead, don't be nervous, you'll be fine," Mo Fan patted his shoulder.
"Brother Fan, I'm going." Zhang Xiaohou nodded and jogged up to the wooden examination platform.
He stepped onto the wooden examination platform. In the center of the platform sat a basketball-sized, dusty-looking star-sensing stone. (P.S.: The star-sensing stone is used to test the intensity of stardust within the body.)
"Put your hands on it and close your eyes." The examiner didn't even look up.
Zhang Xiaohou glanced at their homeroom teacher, Xue Musheng, and then at their practical course teacher, Tang Yue.
"Keep up the good work, I believe in you." This time, it was Tang Yue, the teacher of the practical class, who spoke.
Zhang Xiaohou nodded and walked to the Star Sensing Stone.
Zhang Xiaohou closed his eyes, adjusted his breathing, and slowly entered a meditative state.
The Star-Sensing Stone shimmered and flickered with Zhang Xiaohou's breathing, revealing his nervousness. The Star-Sensing Stone was unable to fully capture the energy of his stars.
However, Zhang Xiaohou is gradually getting into the swing of things.
Finally, the radiance stabilized, and the azure wind-elemental radiance spread around the Star-Sense Stone.
"Stardust Test, Grade A"
"a"
"s", two examiners announced the score as 'a', and one examiner announced the score as 's'.
The overall test score is A.
"It's an A! He's a sure thing for the top class!" No one expected that Zhang Xiaohou, who was usually so inconspicuous, had such a deep secret.
Teachers Xue Musheng and Tang Yue nodded in satisfaction.
"Teacher, I want to take the next test." Zhang Xiaohou rubbed his hands together, his tone confident.
In order to secure a longer period of use for the Stardust Artifact, he had no intention of holding back. The second item, "Magic Casting," was a bonus for top students when vying for resources. The two teachers smiled without saying a word, clearly expecting him to make this choice.
Unfortunately, when he actually stood on the field, Zhang Xiaohou panicked. His palms were sweating, and in his anxiety, he couldn't connect the seven wind-element stars into a complete star trail.
Fortunately, the examiner recognized that he had a solid foundation but was just nervous, so he gave him extra points.
After finishing the exam, Zhang Xiaohou hung his head, looking utterly dejected.
Teacher Tang Yue walked over and patted him on the shoulder: "Don't be discouraged, these grades are good enough to get into the top class."
"Teacher, I've practiced a lot in private, but my magic still scatters when I get nervous," Zhang Xiaohou asked in a muffled voice. "How do you manage to cast magic so easily?"
"Practice more." Tang Yue looked at him, her voice gentle yet earnest. "More importantly, you need to maintain a calm mindset. A qualified mage needs not only solid basic skills but also the ability to remain composed in the face of adversity."
"Next, Class 8, Mu Bai."
A commotion immediately broke out on the playground. Mu Bai straightened his crisp school uniform collar and stepped out from the line. He stood ramrod straight, a humble smile on his face, but his strides were long, exuding confidence.
The examiner, holding a pen, looked at him and said, "Put your hand on it and concentrate."
Mu Bai nodded, closed his eyes, and placed his right hand on the rough star-sensing stone.
Less than three seconds.
hum!
A deep, resonant sound rang out. Suddenly, a blinding, icy-blue light shone from the previously dark interior of the stone. The light grew increasingly intense. The surrounding temperature noticeably dropped. The students in the front rows even shivered.
"Stardust Test, S-rank"
"s"
"s", all three examiners simultaneously announced the score as "s".
The homeroom teacher, Xue Musheng, slapped his thigh excitedly, his face flushed red: "Good! Good! Well done!"
Mu Bai opened his eyes and withdrew his hand. But instead of leaving the stage, he turned to the examiner and said, "Teacher, I request to proceed to the second test: the magic casting assessment."
These words caused an uproar in the audience. He was only a first-year high school student; most of them couldn't even grasp the connection to a star, and he was about to unleash magic?
The examiner paused for a moment, then nodded: "Alright, begin with the puppet over there."
Mu Bai took a deep breath and took two steps back. He raised his hands, one, two... until the seventh star appeared.
"Ice Vines!"
A puff of cold air shot from his palm, and white frost, as if alive, crawled rapidly down the wooden floor, making a crisp "crackling" sound. In the blink of an eye, the frost had climbed up to the puppet several meters away.
Click!
Half of the puppet was frozen into an old-fashioned popsicle, emitting a chilling aura.
The entire stadium was silent for two seconds, then erupted in deafening cheers.
"That's amazing!" "That's a genius! We're still memorizing theoretical formulas, and he's already fighting monsters!" "Mu Bai is so cool!"
Xue Musheng's hands trembled with excitement as he repeatedly ticked off the results on the report card.
In the stands, Mu Bai's uncle, all smiles, leaned close to Mu Zhuoyun and asked, "Big brother, what do you think of Mu Bai?"
Mu Zhuoyun stroked his chin and nodded slightly: "Not bad, he's a promising talent."
"Then do you think the cultivation resources for this quarter will be sufficient?"
"Let's talk about it later."
.....
As Mu Bai stepped down from the examination platform, he was immediately surrounded by a group of people who flattered him. He smiled smugly, but his eyes kept glancing at the stands, wanting to see Mu Ningxue's reaction.
But he was disappointed.
Mu Ningxue's gaze didn't linger on him for even half a second.
Mu Ningxue's gaze was fixed on the back of the line, in an inconspicuous corner.
"See that? This is the strength of our Mu Bai. Not just any Tom, Dick, or Harry can try to take advantage of us. I think some people are going to be kicked out of the school." Zhao Kunsan raised his chin as if he had taken the exam himself.
Mo Fan unusually ignored the lackey Zhao Kunsan, because a long-forgotten scene flashed through his mind.
Meanwhile, in the stands, Mu Ningxue looked at the boy with his hands in his pockets, and a long-forgotten scene suddenly flashed through her mind.
Many years ago, it was raining heavily, and the muddy road was very slippery. A boy covered in mud held her hand tightly and pulled her towards the outside of the manor.
"I'll take you away," the boy said.
It was a ridiculous elopement, a childish farce.
But she still remembers it to this day.
A gust of hot wind blew by, stirring up a cloud of dust. Mu Ningxue withdrew her gaze, a layer of frost forming again in her eyes.
past.
They are now from two different worlds and will never cross paths again in this lifetime.
"Next, Class 8, Mo Fan," the examiner's voice urged over the loudspeaker.
Mo Fan pulled his hand out of his pocket and calmly walked towards the examination platform.
