Chapter 41 Master, turn around quickly!

The room fell silent for a moment as soon as the voice outside the door finished speaking.

Mo Fan's smile froze for a moment, and the next second he almost reflexively turned to look at Mu Nujiao.

Mu Nujiao hadn't fully recovered from the embarrassment and anger from before, and upon hearing this sound, her fingers involuntarily tightened their grip on the water glass.

A soft sound of a wheelchair being moved could be heard outside the door.

"Brother Mo Fan, are you awake?"

Xinxia's voice was soft and gentle.

Mo Fan then came to his senses, cleared his throat, and called out towards the door, "You're awake."

As soon as he finished speaking, he saw that Mu Nujiao had quickly composed herself, suppressing the remaining heat on her face and returning to her usual aloof demeanor.

However, when she put down the water glass, her movements were even gentler than usual.

Mo Fan felt inexplicably guilty, but he couldn't explain why. He could only touch his nose and go over to open the half-closed door.

Outside the door, Ye Xinxia was sitting in a wheelchair with a paper bag in her arms, obviously having brought breakfast.

She first looked up at Mo Fan, then her gaze passed over him and fell into the room.

Mu Nujiao was sitting on the edge of the bed, her hair slightly disheveled, a thin blanket draped over her body. The morning light shone on her profile, giving her a slightly languid look as if she had just woken up.

Mo Fan also clearly looked like he had been in the house all night.

Ye Xinxia glanced at the two of them quietly, a subtle unease flashing in her eyes, but she quickly returned to normal.

"Did I arrive at the wrong time?"

Upon hearing this, Mo Fan's lips twitched.

Don't overthink it.

Mu Nujiao, who was inside the house, also raised her eyes slightly and said calmly, "There was a slight accident during our competition last night. Mo Fan just brought me back."

"Just send it back?" Mo Fan asked instinctively.

Mu Nujiao looked at him coldly.

Mo Fan immediately realized his mistake and quickly tried to salvage the situation: "What I meant was—after you were brought back, you weren't quite right, so I just checked on you."

Seeing her brother's flustered state, Ye Xinxia couldn't help but smile, but didn't press him further.

She handed over the paper bag she was holding.

"I bought breakfast. You didn't reply to my messages last night, so I came back from my aunt's house."

Mo Fan took the paper bag, looked down, and saw that it contained several servings of still-warm porridge and snacks.

"Xinxia is so sensible." He remarked with a sigh, then, as if remembering something, he turned to look at Mu Nujiao and coughed lightly, "Can you get out of bed now?"

Mu Nujiao glanced at him: "What do you think?"

"Okay, it seems like you've almost recovered."

Mo Fan placed the breakfast on the table, his tone softening, "That's perfect, let's eat together, and I'll take you home after we're done."

Mu Nujiao wanted to say no, but when her gaze fell on Ye Xinxia at the door, she paused for a moment and finally nodded gently.

The atmosphere in the room became much more peaceful because of Ye Xinxia's arrival.

The old wolf had somehow crept over again, curled up in a ball by the door, its tail gently brushing the ground, acting as if nothing had happened.

Mo Fan glanced at it, too lazy to discipline it in front of Xin Xia, but casually tapped it on the head as he passed by.

The old wolf let out a howl, becoming incredibly docile.

Breakfast was eaten quietly.

Ye Xinxia would occasionally exchange a few words with Mo Fan, while Mu Nujiao sat to the side, mostly remaining silent and quietly drinking her porridge.

No one mentioned the hand that hadn't let go last night.

But that inexplicable feeling seems to have quietly remained.

After breakfast, Mo Fan still took Mu Nujiao back.

The two of them barely spoke the rest of the way.

Upon arriving at their destination, Mu Nujiao, holding onto the carriage door, was about to get out when she suddenly paused.

She didn't turn around immediately, but kept looking ahead, her voice as calm as ever: "Thanks for last night."

Mo Fan leaned back in his seat and raised an eyebrow upon hearing this.

"Just a thank you?"

Mu Nujiao turned her head to look at him, her eyes still clear and cold, but without the aloofness she had shown before.

"Then what else do you want?"

Mo Fan originally wanted to tease her again, but when he met her gaze, the words he was about to say somehow got stuck in his throat.

He just chuckled and said, "It's nothing, just remember it."

Mu Nujiao looked at him for two seconds, gave a soft "hmm," and then got out of the car.

The moment the car door closed, she stood there, not leaving immediately.

The morning breeze ruffled the stray hairs by her ear, carrying with it her soft words.

"The same to you."

Mo Fan was taken aback: "What? Me too?"

Mu Nujiao didn't explain further. She turned around and walked towards a girl who was waiting for her in the distance. Her back was still straight and aloof, but her steps were faster than usual, as if she was deliberately avoiding something.

Mo Fan sat in the car for a while, then suddenly smiled.

"They're quite good at whetting people's appetites."

He muttered something to himself, then told his master to go back the way they came, so he could catch up on some sleep.

Mo Fan had only driven two blocks when he saw a "GG" sign standing by the roadside.

The line at the top was particularly eye-catching: "[Demon Hunting Commission, Generous Rewards, Skilled Hunters Welcome to Accept the Order]"

The signature at the very bottom reads: [Qingtian Hunting Grounds]

Mo Fan, who had been lazily leaning back in the back seat, paused slightly when he saw those four words.

Qingtian Hunting Grounds.

Old Bao, you're so clever.

That unassuming little shop, which always seemed to be receiving troublesome requests, along with the figures of the old man and the young man inside, suddenly surfaced from the depths of my memory.

Mo Fan stared at the GG sign for two seconds, then suddenly looked down and cursed under his breath.

Oh dear, I almost forgot about the important matter.

Many things in this life have happened ahead of schedule or gone astray, but some paths must still be walked eventually.

Moreover, compared to continuing to play around with a group of students at school, the Qingtian Hunting Grounds are the only place where he can truly access the demon world, and the old man's strength and status there can provide him with some protection now.

Cultivation requires resources, and real combat requires opportunities.

These are things that high school can no longer provide for him. At Mingzhu Academy, he has to cling to Dean Xiao's leg to stroll around as freely as if it were his own backyard.

"Master," Mo Fan suddenly spoke, "turn around."

The driver in front glanced at him in the rearview mirror: "Where to?"

Mo Fan withdrew his gaze, and a slight smile slowly appeared on his lips.

"Go to Qingtian Hunting Grounds."

The driver muttered something, as if recalling the road where Qing Tianlie was, before turning the steering wheel and swerving the car away.

The street scene outside the car window rushed past, and Mo Fan leaned back in his seat, the languid look in his eyes fading away little by little.

He certainly knew what that place meant.

I also know that this trip won't just result in meeting an old man and a little girl...
