Full-Time Magister: Rebirth of Mo Fan as the Primordial Evil Phoenix
Chapter 33's bonus was from above, this one was given by me.
Chapter 33's bonus was from above, this one was given by me.
Mo Fan's voice was still a little hoarse: "If you had come any later, I might have already been discharged from the hospital."
"Get lost." Zhan Kong cursed, reaching into his pocket as if to smoke, but after glancing at the ward, he put the cigarette pack back in. "Still talking back when you're injured like this, looks like you're not completely out of your mind."
Mo Fan looked at him and smiled: "Chief Instructor, are you here to give me a bonus? Or to interrogate me?"
"They're all the same."
Zhan Kong leaned back in his chair and, without wasting words, asked directly, "Just how much did you know in advance, kid?"
Mo Fan's smile faded slightly, and he chuckled dryly, "What do you mean, 'how much do you know'?"
"Stop playing dumb with me!" Zhan Kong glared at him. "The time in the sewers, the time at Xuefeng Mountain, the time at the meat processing plant. Every single time, weren't you the first to smell it? Once or twice is one thing, but three or four times and you still do it like this? Do you think I'm just sitting around doing nothing?"
After a few seconds of silence in the ward, Mo Fan finally managed a smirk: "Chief Instructor, if you put it that way, I'd start to suspect you're praising me."
"I'm not praising you for a second," Zhan Kong said. "Confess honestly."
Mo Fan leaned against the headboard, remained silent for a moment, and then slowly spoke: "I didn't know much beforehand, I just felt something was wrong."
0
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing is right."
Speak like a human being!
"I'm not the kind of person who can stay in school quietly. I've been to the outer city, the old streets, the sewers, everywhere. I've hunted demons more than once or twice. I know a little bit about what demons are like."
"That's all?"
"Otherwise what?" Mo Fan looked at him. "You expect me to be able to tell fortunes?"
Zhan Kong clicked his tongue, neither saying he believed nor disbelieved, but simply tapped his fingers twice on the armrest of the chair.
"Your explanation is understandable," he said, "but not complete."
"Then you can fix it yourself."
"I'll give you an egg!" Zhan Kong cursed.
Mo Fan shrugged, but suddenly aggravated his injury, causing him to wince in pain.
Zhan Kong saw all this, but his words remained unchanged: "Serves you right. Who told you to run into a pack of wolves?"
Mo Fan immediately became displeased: "What do you mean I run around aimlessly? If I didn't have some skills, I would be dust by now."
"He's already lying down."
"He's not dead yet!"
"Alright, let's not talk about this anymore." Zhan Kong composed himself and lowered his voice. "You sensed something was wrong beforehand and leaked the information. Someone has already verified this. I also know what you did during the evacuation."
Mo Fan looked at him.
"You did a lot of work, and even when the city was in such a mess, you still dared to sneak back in."
As he spoke, he leaned forward and looked at Mo Fan.
"From today onwards, those people from the Black Vatican won't let you have an easy time."
Mo Fan sighed, leaned back against the headboard, and said in a low voice, "Now that you mention it, I feel quite a bit of pressure."
"Now you know fear?"
"What's there to be afraid of?" Mo Fan retorted defiantly. "I'll wipe them out one by one if they come."
Zhan Kong didn't take on any more jobs, but his gaze swept over Mo Fan.
"There's something else I need to remind you of."
Mo Fan's heart skipped a beat, but he didn't show it on his face: "Speak."
"You played a bit strangely this time."
Are you swearing?
"I'm serious." Zhan Kong frowned. "I had a hard time even dealing with that wolf. Isn't it crazy that you're going to kill it?"
Mo Fan's heart skipped a beat.
He knew that he could fool others, but he couldn't fool someone like Zhan Kong, who came from a noble family.
"Why are you staring at me so closely?" Mo Fan asked, feigning nonchalance.
"Nonsense, you're someone I trained. Who else should I keep an eye on if not you?" Zhan Kong retorted. "Everyone has secrets. Whether it's innate talent or some kind of heaven-defying magical artifact, that's your own business. I can't be bothered to ask."
"I know," Mo Fan said.
"What do you know?" Zhan Kong said bluntly. "I think you've been kicked in the head by a donkey. If you really knew, you wouldn't have gotten yourself into this mess when fighting the Winged Wolf. Your trump card is for saving your life, not for showing off."
"At a time like that, who cares about talking about so many things?"
"So now you're lying in a hospital bed, and I'm standing here yelling at you."
Mo Fan rolled his eyes: "Couldn't you at least say a few words of praise?"
"Praising your luck?!"
"6
'
Seeing that he had been humiliated, Zhan Kong laughed instead.
But the smile quickly faded.
"Let's get down to business," Zhan Kong said. "You can't stay in Bo City any longer."
The atmosphere in the ward immediately became a little somber after those words were spoken.
Mo Fan looked at him: "Are you kicking people out so quickly?"
"You think I wanted this?" Zhan Kong gestured with his chin towards the window. "Don't you know what a mess this city is in now?"
Mo Fan was certainly aware of this.
The half-collapsed buildings outside, the makeshift aid stations, and the monks and wounded coming and going—all these things have made the answer clear.
"I'm not here to coax you," Zhan Kong said. "You have two choices now. First, go to Xuefeng Mountain and join me. I'll guarantee you a life of luxury. Second, hurry up and go to a bigger place. Don't waste your time here."
Mo Fan barely thought about it: "Forget about the military."
Zhan Kong looked at him: "You think there are too many rules?"
"Pretty much, I'm used to being laid-back."
Zhan Kong wasn't angry after hearing this; he just laughed and scolded, "You brat, I knew you'd be like this."
"What, you can't bear to part with me?"
"Can't bear to part with you? You're already being kind by not causing me any trouble." Zhan Kong stood up and patted his trouser leg.
Mo Fan grinned: "You know me pretty well."
"Nonsense." Zhan Kong cursed, casually pulling something from his pocket and tossing it onto the bed. "The bonus is from above, this is from me."
Mo Fan looked down and saw a "magical tool?"
"Yeah, I'm afraid you might suddenly pass away."
Two golden lights seemed to appear in Mo Fan's eyes: "Really for me?"
"Otherwise?"
After saying that, Zhan Kong strode towards the door.
As he placed his hand on the doorknob, he seemed to suddenly remember something and glanced back at Mo Fan.
"Oh, right."
"what?"
"Tang Yue was here just now."
Mo Fan was taken aback: "She's here?"
"I came to see if you were awake." Zhan Kong finally showed his usual unserious expression. "You're really lucky, kid. Even injured like this, you still have women thinking about you."
"Can't you speak properly?"
"Did I say something wrong?" Zhan Kong snorted. "Before you leave, you'd better go see her. She's covered up a lot of things for you, otherwise the Tribunal wouldn't have given in so easily."
"7
Mo Fan's expression changed slightly.
Zhan Kong didn't give him a chance to ask any more questions, and opened the door to walk out.
Before leaving, he left one last sentence.
"That woman Tang Yue just asked if you could get out of bed by yourself... If you have any conscience, don't make her come all this way for nothing."
""
The door closed.
The ward fell silent again.
Mo Fan leaned against the headboard, staring at the door. After a long while, he muttered under his breath, "That old scoundrel."
Was it a wasted trip?
