Peninsula Cicada Song Diary

Chapter 57 I hate crystal balls

Even though the kite string broke, Sana Minatozaki still had to forcibly pull the string back and tie a knot to pretend it hadn't broken.

Because the backstage was filled with a constant stream of greetings.

"Hello, senior."

She smiled and nodded, responding to the greetings from her juniors in a formulaic manner.

Only after the door to the waiting room closed did Sana Minatozaki have time to remove the pretense from the corners of her mouth, and the upward curve returned to a bitter straight line, as if she had a bitter candy in her mouth.

"Unnie, take a rest first." Kim Da-hyun helped her to the sofa.

"Okay." Leaning back on the sofa, Sana Minatozaki breathed a sigh of relief, feeling a sense of security.

She wasn't feeling well today, and everyone could tell. The members and staff tried to keep their voices down, and for a moment the waiting room was so quiet it was as if no one had come in.

After the minute hand on his watch had slowly rotated 90 degrees, Jung Min-ho glanced at Minatozaki Sana and had to speak in a low voice:

"Kids, we still have some seniors to visit today. After the visits, we'll go to rehearsal."

For Music Bank's rehearsals, all artists need to wait in the audience seats at the stage. Then, they are called on stage in order of their fame, with the more famous artists being able to rehearse earlier and return to the waiting room to rest.

This is reality, but the entertainment industry is inherently a realistic place.

"Yes." Leader Park Jihyo accepted the corresponding number of albums from the staff.

"Unnie," Chou Tzu-yu gently nudged Minatozaki Sana's shoulder to remind her.

"Wait a mininute."

Minho Jung had actually heard everything Sana Minato said. She hadn't fallen asleep; she had just closed her eyes to rest.

She rubbed her cheeks with both hands, as if performing magic, and then a big smile bloomed on her tired face after she put her hands down.

"let's go."

......

Pei Xiyan doesn't like crystal chandeliers.

It's flashy but impractical, and it's also troublesome to clean. You need to remove each crystal ball inside the chandelier one by one, wipe them, and then put them back in one by one. This process not only wastes time during spring cleaning, but it would have been cleaned much earlier with a regular light bulb.

He looked at the KBS Hall in front of him; the interior lights shone through the glass exterior walls, making it look like a crystal ball on a chandelier that helped refract light.

Pei Xiyan also disliked the crystal ball.

He sighed, and the faint white mist he exhaled rose and disappeared against the backdrop of the falling drizzle.

Thankfully, the rain wasn't heavy today, and I was wearing a waterproof jacket. But none of that matters. What matters is...

"I should have known better than to make that bet yesterday," Pei Xiyan muttered regretfully.

The rain was light, but everyone around was holding umbrellas, like mushrooms walking in the rain.

Pei Xiyan didn't have a mushroom cap, only a baseball cap. He was carrying large bags in both hands, so he couldn't use his hands to hold an umbrella. One bag was filled with piles of coffee, and the other was full of snacks, all of which he had just taken from a support truck not far away.

Pei Xiyan was very familiar with KBS Hall. Pei Zhuxuan had been an MC there for a period of time, so he had visited quite a few times during that period. But Pei Xiyan wasn't here today for Pei Zhuxuan, since she hadn't been an MC for two years.

The security guard at the entrance was the same one as before. He didn't stop Pei Xiyan when he saw him, and although he was surprised that Pei Xiyan was carrying so many things, he still let him in.

Pei Xiyan knew the way to the Music Bank all too well; she walked upstairs, turning left and right, left and right...

And then we arrived.

There were many people backstage, with staff members wearing work badges around their necks and some idols walking back and forth. Pei Xiyan stood out in the middle. Putting aside his height and appearance, just looking at the two large bags he was carrying, which could take up half the space in the corridor, he was quite unique.

In order not to take up other people's space, Pei Xiyan could only turn sideways, saying "Excuse me, may I pass?" while searching for her destination.

The waiting room is marked with the artists' name tags. Only popular artists or senior artists can use a private waiting room. The rest have to make do with the partitioned rooms in the public area.

Having found the door to the waiting room with the nameplate "EXO" on it, Pei Xiyan pursed his lips and, with his hands not being able to move, used his elbow as a tool to knock on the door.

"Please come in," a voice came from inside.

"Please come in, my foot! I don't have hands to open the door!" Pei Xiyan twitched the corner of her mouth, tightened her grip on the bags in her hands, and then knocked on the door in a fit of anger.

The impact was very loud; it could be heard throughout most of the backstage corridor.

"Coming, coming." Footsteps approached from afar, until they reached the door.

"Annyeonghase..." It was Park Chanyeol who opened the door.

Upon seeing Pei Xiyan, who was in a disheveled state, outside the door, he was stunned for a moment, and then burst into laughter.

The undisguised laughter was rather grating, and Pei Xiyan couldn't help but bulge the veins on her forehead. If this were a comic, a "well" would have been clearly marked on it.

"Can I go in first?" Pei Xiyan said coldly.

"Mianne mianne, Xiyan, come in quickly." Sensing his impatience, Park Chanyeol stopped laughing, took the bag from his hand, and stepped aside.

"Xiyan." "Yan, you're finally here." "We've been waiting for you for so long." Greetings rang out one after another in the waiting room.

"Thank you Xiyan for bringing coffee and snacks from so far away." Baekhyun, who was playing games on the sofa, put down his phone and clapped his hands excitedly.

"Xiyan, wipe yourself clean." Kim Junmyeon handed over a towel.

"Thank you, hyung." Pei Xiyan took the towel and wiped the water stains off her clothes. She then looked at EXO's manager not far away. "Mia, Naemin, this is all the stuff I can carry. The support truck is outside, so you'll have to carry it yourselves."

"Ani, Cicadaxi, there's no need to apologize." EXO's manager hurriedly waved his hand and then called a few staff members out of the waiting room.

Looking at the two full bags that Park Chanyeol had placed on the table, Oh Sehun gave a thumbs up, "As expected of our honest and trustworthy Seokyun."

"When have I ever broken a promise?" Pei Xiyan glanced at him.

"But now we finally know where Cicada went," Kim Jongin suddenly said, and the other members laughed when they heard this.

"What?" Pei Xiyan didn't understand their inexplicable sense of humor, and looked at them as if they were a group of fools entertaining themselves.

"So Cicada's here with us." Holding the coffee he took from the bag, Park Chanyeol stepped forward and put his arm around Bae Hee-yeon's neck.

"What exactly does that mean?" Pei Xiyan asked.

"You didn't know?" Park Chanyeol took a sip of coffee, raised an eyebrow at him, "You've become a hot topic."

"Why?" Pei Xiyan frowned.

"Because Ryderbabe's fans discovered that you weren't listed in the producer credits for their comeback," Kim Junmyeon explained while eating a hot dog.

"Isn't this normal?" Pei Xiyan asked, puzzled.

"But that's not normal for the fans," Kim Junmyeon continued to explain, "after all, you've already participated in four consecutive comebacks."

"JYP doesn't participate in every TWICE comeback either," Pei Xiyan shook her head in confusion.

"It's mainly because the songs you wrote left such a deep impression," Byun Baekhyun said, revealing the root cause. Then, as if remembering something, he smiled and gave another example.

"Just like the impression you left on us with your bet yesterday."
