Magical Girl Fan Bingbing
Chapter 8: Sell, Don't Touch
Leng Qiaoqiao stretched out her finger and carefully held the object up to her eyes.
It was flawless, without even any impurities visible to the naked eye, and the internal magic flowed evenly and steadily without any unstable fluctuations.
This can practically be called a work of art.
Leng Qiaoqiao's amber eyes were filled with shock: "Teacher Jiang, how did you do that?"
"A unique secret."
Leng Qiaoqiao opened her mouth, wanting to ask more, but looking at Jiang Ran's expressionless face, she swallowed her words in the end.
If you can't get an answer, so be it; the result is already in front of you.
Leng Qiaoqiao put the crystal back into the iron plate, glanced at the pile of blue crystals, then picked up one of the smaller ones and weighed it in her palm.
"I need to verify the license plate."
As she was about to make a move, Jiang Ran grabbed Leng Qiaoqiao's wrist almost in the blink of an eye.
"I have principles; this is something I can't touch."
Leng Qiaoqiao was taken aback by his sudden action and looked up at Jiang Ran in confusion: "Teacher Jiang, have you been watching too many movies?"
She explained to Jiang Ran that it only temporarily grants people some superpowers.
Jiang Ran did not let go. He looked at Leng Qiaoqiao with a firm gaze. Both of them knew that Leng Qiaoqiao's statement was not entirely accurate. Anything that seems to have no side effects actually comes with a hidden price.
Leng Qiaoqiao pulled her fingers back slightly.
Jiang Ran released her wrist and continued to persuade her.
"You're not even twenty yet," Jiang Ran said, looking at her. "Theoretically, you still have a chance to awaken. There's no need to ruin yourself this way."
Leng Qiaoqiao didn't say anything.
She lowered her head, her fingers clutching the crystal, her knuckles turning slightly white.
The carriage remained quiet for a long time.
Finally, Leng Qiaoqiao put the crystal back into the iron pan.
"understood."
Her tone was much softer than usual; she didn't argue, but simply quietly withdrew her hand.
Jiang Ran didn't say anything more. He had already given the reminder he needed to. He wasn't Leng Qiaoqiao's father, and saying too much would only backfire.
After a moment of awkward silence, Jiang Ran spoke first, asking Leng Qiaoqiao if she had any other options.
Leng Qiaoqiao snapped out of her reverie, leaned back on the sofa and thought for a while before saying, "I've heard of someone named A-Qiang."
"Ah Qiang isn't very active and usually keeps a low profile, but he has very stable connections. It's said that he has connections in the high places. While others have stopped showing their faces, Ah Qiang is still active."
"This guy looks like the mole?" Jiang Ran wondered.
"Impossible." Leng Qiaoqiao shook her head, her tone very firm. "A-Qiang had a good brother who was killed by the police a couple of years ago. Since then, A-Qiang has sworn in the underworld to avenge his brother. He would never do business with those people."
She paused for a moment, then added, "And we don't have a choice now."
Jiang Ran was silent for a few seconds, then nodded.
Leng Qiaoqiao took out her phone from her pocket and opened an anonymous chat application that Jiang Ran had never seen before. The interface was so rudimentary that it looked like a product from ten years ago.
She found a contact without a profile picture and sent them a message.
The other party replied quickly, and the two chatted back and forth for a while. Leng Qiaoqiao's lips gradually curled up.
"It's all settled." Leng Qiaoqiao put away her phone, turned to look at Jiang Ran, and said, "Qiang said he'll come to pick up the goods himself, and..."
She held up two fingers.
"His next buyer is a reputable and qualified laboratory that is willing to pay double the price."
The market price starts at 500,000 per bottle, and double that would be 1 million.
Jiang Ran turned her head and glanced at the crystals in the iron plate; there were five bottles in total.
five million.
After deducting his share with Leng Qiaoqiao, he had already achieved nearly half of his goal of over ten million.
Jiang Ran's expression didn't change much, but the fingers gripping the car keys loosened.
After shipping a few more batches of goods and saving enough money, he can retire from his criminal activities.
……
While waiting for A-Qiang to arrive, the two sat in the RV with nothing to do.
Leng Qiaoqiao opened another bag of snacks, crunching away, when she suddenly blurted out, "Teacher Jiang, what are you planning to do after you make money?"
"Let's save them for now," Jiang Ran said.
"Saving them up?" Leng Qiaoqiao tilted her head and glanced at him. "Don't you have any lofty ideals?"
"I wouldn't call it an ideal, and besides, I'm too old for that," Jiang Ran said, not elaborating, but instead asking, "What about you?"
Leng Qiaoqiao slowed down her chewing of snacks.
She stared at the gray forest outside the car window, remained silent for a while, and then spoke: "I want to kill a magical beast."
Which one?
"The Nine-Headed Sea Monster"
Leng Qiaoqiao's voice was flat, revealing little emotion.
"A few years ago, a Shining-level nine-headed sea monster landed in Tianhai City, causing the deaths of tens of thousands of people."
She lowered her head, her fingers unconsciously clutching the seal of the potato chip bag.
"My parents are inside."
Jiang Ran remained silent.
"Even two Shining-level magical girls dispatched by the Ten Council couldn't kill it. In the end, that thing disappeared into the sea, its whereabouts unknown." Leng Qiaoqiao raised her head, something burning quietly in her amber eyes. "But it will definitely reappear."
"Next time it appears, I will kill it no matter the cost."
The carriage was quiet for a while.
Leng Qiaoqiao turned to look at Jiang Ran: "That day you said you were doing it for money, was that the truth?"
"It's true." Jiang Ran leaned back in her seat. "I just want to give my daughter a good life."
Leng Qiaoqiao stared at him for a few seconds, then suddenly smiled, but her smile carried a hint of disbelief.
"Teacher Jiang, if you get arrested, your daughter will never be able to take the civil service exam again."
Jiang Ran smiled slightly, her tone indifferent: "I will never be arrested."
Leng Qiaoqiao was taken aback. "Why...?"
Ding.
Her phone rang.
Leng Qiaoqiao looked down and saw that it was a message from A-Qiang.
"He's nearby."
