Everyone has awakened, but I am the only mortal!
Chapter 7 Entering Another World
Su Bai glanced around the room.
The original group of fifteen people split into four groups, each occupying a corner, clearly separated.
He, Lao Zhou, and the silent father and son leaned against the corner of the wall by the door.
Opposite, in the corner by the window, were two people with superpowers.
The other two groups are Ma Jun, Bucktooth, Xiao Li and their gang, and the remaining survivors.
Everyone was eating and drinking like crazy. There were already more than a dozen empty mineral water bottles on the ground, and some people were clutching several unopened bottles of water tightly in their arms, as if they were holding onto a lifeline.
Su Bai unscrewed the bottle cap, took a small sip of water to moisten her parched throat, and then asked softly, "Where is this?"
Old Zhou shook his head: "I don't know, I woke up here."
"Isn't anyone going out to check?"
Old Zhou gestured with his chin toward the pile of empty bottles in the center of the room, his tone laced with sarcasm: "With water and food, who cares about going outside? These few bottles of ours, I found them from that pile of empty bottles."
Su Bai downed half a bottle of water in one gulp, tightened the cap, and placed it beside him, casually asking, "Is that all?"
Old Zhou hummed in agreement: "It's just a few more unwanted broken bottles on the ground."
After saying that, he suddenly added in a cheeky tone, "Or else I could provide you with a waiter?"
As soon as he finished speaking, the two superhumans got up, walked to the empty bottle in the middle of the room, squatted down and started turning it over.
Old Zhou chuckled and said, "What's the use of killing monsters? In this apocalypse, you'd just end up rummaging through trash."
Su Bai clearly felt that as his voice fell, the short superhuman glared fiercely at Old Zhou.
At this moment, Su Bai's arm paused, not because of what Lao Zhou said, but because his fingertips touched something cold and hard.
He looked down and saw a dusty, long-abandoned syringe.
Su Bai saw what was on his fingertips and instinctively wanted to pull his hand back, but Old Zhou's words, "a piece of junk nobody wants," suddenly rang in his ears.
He glanced discreetly at the two superhumans rummaging through the pile of empty bottles, then with a flick of his finger, he quietly slipped the discarded syringe into his sleeve, the movement as natural as if it had never happened.
The two superhumans searched through the empty bottle for a long time but found nothing. Their brows furrowed even more, and their eyes began to scan every corner of the room.
If you remove the messy pile of empty bottles in the middle, the room is exceptionally clean.
The floor tiles were covered with only a thin layer of ash, and apart from the fifteen of them, there was no other clutter. It was eerily clean, as if someone had deliberately cleaned it, just waiting for them to come in.
After everyone had eaten and drunk their fill, their hearts finally settled down, and they were able to focus their attention on the two superhumans.
The two superhumans frowned, their expressions grave, as if they had encountered a thorny problem.
Finally, the tall superhuman spoke, his voice deep and cold: "Has anyone found anything besides food and water? Anything small counts."
The crowd looked at each other, no one responded, and then some people began to shake their heads slightly.
When you first wake up, all you see is water and food; who would pay attention to anything else?
Ma Jun couldn't help but step forward, his tone urgent: "Gentlemen, what exactly happened? Where are we now?"
The two superhumans seemed not to hear, their gazes slowly sweeping across the crowd.
Finally, the accuracy fell on Su Bai and Lao Zhou.
Old Zhou straightened up instantly and glared back: "What are you looking at? Don't think you're so great just because you're a superhuman! It's the apocalypse, do you think I'll be bullied?"
Anyone else would have been enraged by such provocation.
However, the two superhumans looked at Old Zhou as if he were an ant, their gazes sweeping over him without pausing for a moment, and landing directly on Su Bai.
Old Zhou: "..."
This is even more humiliating than being insulted! Does he not even deserve to be looked at properly?
Su Bai slowly stood up from the ground, meeting their gazes without flinching.
His tone was calm yet sharp: "Ever since we discovered the monster, I've had this question: you clearly had the ability to kill it, yet you stayed hidden in the group, letting it kill according to the 'rules.' Why?"
The air froze instantly.
The room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop; even the breathing of the people inside became cautious.
Everyone knows that these two superhumans can easily kill monsters and their strength is unfathomable. No one dares to provoke them easily, let alone question them so directly.
Su Bai's gaze was deep, his speech slow but clear, as he untangled all the doubts: "First, the monster only kills one person a day, adhering to the rules. Second, before it revealed its true form, you desperately prevented us from exposing it; only after it was exposed did you make your move. Third, we were trapped in the same spot, yet you said, 'This is it,' before truly unleashing your deadly attack. Doesn't this mean that as long as these three conditions are met, you can achieve your goal?"
The tall, superhuman asked, "What's the purpose?"
Su Bai: "For example, coming here."
The short, superhuman scoffed, his eyes filled with contempt.
The tall superhuman looked at Su Bai with more appreciation in his eyes and slowly said, "Very good. You are quite extraordinary to be able to sort these things out from the chaos."
He paused, the smile on his face vanishing instantly. His gaze swept over everyone in the room, his tone neither warm nor cold, yet carrying an undeniable weight: "Since that's the case, I'll make the current situation clear. To escape from this other world, the two of us alone are not enough; we all need to work together."
Another world? Escape?
Su Bai instantly caught two key pieces of information, and his brows furrowed almost imperceptibly.
The tall superhuman continued, "My name is Luo Zheng, and his name is Zheng Yi. We are superhumans. The meteorite impact destroyed human civilization. Some of those affected by the meteorite mutated into monsters, while others became superhumans like us, each with their own unique abilities."
He paused abruptly, his expression turning serious, with an undisguised air of superiority: "Ability users have a special physique. In addition to possessing special abilities, they can survive for months without eating or drinking."
Everyone gasped, their faces filled with shock. No one had imagined that in just seven months, the world would have changed so drastically, and that such an unbelievable existence still existed.
Luo Zheng was used to everyone's reactions and continued in a calm tone: "And those who mutated into monsters are the 'keys' to opening the other world. Anyone who can enter the other world and escape alive can borrow 'spirit' in the other world, which is the superpower I just mentioned."
While everyone was still reeling from this mind-blowing news, Su Bai spoke first: "How do we escape?"
Luo Zheng looked at him, his admiration growing even stronger: "Those who have entered other worlds have said that clues and hints are hidden within them. By following these clues and hints, one can escape from other worlds. That's why I asked everyone earlier if they had found anything else."
