The Bizarre Adventure of the Warhammer Guard
Chapter 73 Delivering the Message
The Imperial Guards stood solemnly silent all around, countless cold gazes focused on the Shadow Prophet lying prone on the ground.
"Wait! Spare his life!" Wangorich's shout echoed through the hall.
As he shouted, he quickly surveyed his surroundings. The hall in front of the Gate of Eternity was very spacious, enough to accommodate an entire army, but now it was covered with the scars of a fierce battle. The floor was broken, and the walls were riddled with bullet holes left by Titan fire.
Dozens of Imperial Guards lay on the ground, their fate unknown, and a medical team was trying to save their lives.
"Halt!" Two Imperial Guardsmen crossed their spears and blocked Wangorich's path.
"It is I, High Lord Vangorich, let me through!" he eagerly identified himself.
"Grand Master of the Assassin's Court, Drakan Vangorich?" As the captain of the shield guards in the middle, whose helmet was decorated with purple feathers, raised his hand, the Imperial Guards dispersed, revealing his towering figure.
"Company Commander Beloit, please forgive my intrusion. Do not execute her, we must interrogate her!" Vangorich squeezed through the ranks of the Imperial Guards, his voice resolute.
"What, you're planning to defend her? Defend the alien?" Beloit's voice was icy.
The atmosphere instantly became tense. Wangorich felt countless scrutinizing gazes upon him, and a cold sweat broke out on his forehead.
"Calm down, everyone!" Elpis appeared just in time, temporarily easing the tense atmosphere.
"Elpis," said the Shield Guard captain, "you also want to defend the Xenomorphs?"
"Belloit," Elpis recognized his fellow Imperial Guard officer, "she's the only one left of this alien now. Let's try to get information from her first and see why she dared to trespass into the palace."
"I am Larriel Ray, the Shadow Prophet of the Endless Song, sent here by the High Prophet Eldrad Uslan to deliver an important message to the Emperor of Man," Larriel struggled to explain to the Royal Guard, blood seeping from the corner of his mouth.
A few low growls came from the surrounding Imperial Guards, who clearly believed it was a lie fabricated by the alien to save its own life.
But Elpis fell into a brief silence, knowing the significance of the word "prophet" in Eldar culture.
It is said that the Eldar's prophets are all masters of prophecy, and they survived only because of the prophets' prophecies, not to mention the "Supreme Prophet".
"She tried to deceive us with lies," Beloit said sternly. "I will not let her get away with this. Her race are all wizards; who knows what she might do? She has already stormed the Emperor's Sanctuary, and she must pay the price."
“I understand your anger, Shield Guard Captain, but we must be careful,” Vangorich added from the side. “What if she’s telling the truth? It’s our lack of caution that has allowed the Orcs’ battle moon to hang over Terra. We can’t afford to make any more mistakes!”
"Are you ordering me around, King of Assassins? No one can order me around except the Emperor himself." Beloit took a step forward, looking down at Wongorich.
"Let's stop this pointless conflict," Elpis said, turning his gaze to the Eldar pinned to the ground. "Why should we trust you?"
"I have a token on me," Larriel quickly said. "It was given to our High Prophet Eldrad Uslan by Primarch Vulgan Volkan during your recent civil war."
Upon hearing the alien's words, Beloit remained silent for a moment, then waved his hand to order the other Imperial Guards to release the alien, which was pinned to the ground, but still form a ring around it.
"Remove your mask and reveal your true face. Then take out the token. If anyone dares to make a move, execute them immediately."
Larriel hesitated for a moment, his fingertips trembling slightly, before removing the eerie clown mask.
Beneath the mask was a thin, almost perfect face. High cheekbones, narrow eyes, and a black teardrop-shaped line under the large brown eyes; the fair skin had an unnatural, luminous glow.
The beauty of the Eldar always exudes a chilling, inhuman quality.
She reached into the clothes beside her legs, fumbled for a moment, took out something, struggled to stand up, and handed it to Wangorich beside her.
The master craftsman took the item, opened his hand, and there was a huge tooth, inlaid with intricate gold wire.
"The teeth of the Nocturne Starfire Dragon can only be found on Vulcan's home planet. But how do I know this isn't a hoax? Did Vulcan give this to your master?"
"Besides the God of Laughter, I have no master to serve." Laril closed his eyes and opened his arms. "I have nothing else to prove this. If you don't take it seriously, it only means that the High Prophet overestimated you."
"What message are you trying to convey? A threat?" Vangorich asked.
"Foolish monkey!" Larriel snapped his eyes open and sneered. "A threat? Your Emperor and the High Prophet have known each other for a long time."
"Although they have long been at odds, they have never clashed with each other. The one who sits on the golden throne now is the only hope for both humanity and the Eldar."
"This was originally a message for the Lord of Humanity, but now," Larriel turned to Elpis, a strange light flashing in his eyes, "Child of Hope, so are you. Passing this message on to you completes my mission."
"Tell me about it," Elpis said, frowning.
"Your Space Marines have amassed a great force, and now they are about to reach your Red World."
"Eldrad Uslan and the prophets of Usvi's Ark have done their utmost to quell the warp storms caused by the orcs, so that your warriors can contact you more quickly and come to your side. This gift is given to you free of charge."
"Please heed our plea. Do not let the orcs distract you, nor let any threat from the mortal world cloud your judgment."
"Unless the Milky Way becomes their plaything, those beings in the warp will not give up. Their threat cycles every few million years, and my people have spent their lives fighting against them. If you think Chaos has been defeated, you are being naive."
"Your Primarchs are waging a war that has spread to the area around the volcanoes. Fire dragons have appeared, and the 'Kordra' is wailing."
Larriel's voice was clear and melodious, and countless words flowed from her lips with rhythm, like singing.
"I have been dispatched here to deliver a single, crucial message." Laril glanced around at the Imperial Guard. "The Primal Destroyer is our common enemy. Do not underestimate the God of Darkness, for it means the destruction of all our beings."
“I understand. We know who the real enemy is.” Elpiston paused, unsure of what Larry meant. “If what you say is true, we accept your kindness. If it's something against the warp, we can fight it together.”
"Master, lock her up first," Elpis said.
"Understood, leave it to me, Lord Elpis." Vangorich nodded in acknowledgment.
