The Bizarre Adventure of the Warhammer Guard
Chapter 4 Doubts and the Spear of the Moon
"I have always been a human being." Elpis felt that Usotan's words were a piece of advice to him.
He seemed to be reminding himself to always remember that he was a human being.
Some of the remaining Thunder Warriors chose to fight to the death, while others chose to surrender.
"What will become of them, Marshal?" Elpis asked.
"Exile." Waldo's words were as concise as ever. "It is His Majesty's mercy."
Elpis nodded as he watched Astartes cleaning up the battlefield and his fellow Imperial Guards collecting the bodies of their fallen comrades.

Back at the Imperial Palace, which was under construction, Elpis removed his equipment and handed it over to specialized technicians for repair before heading to his usual training ground.
Elpis is now in a state of great confusion.
Has my appearance altered the plot? This nauseating mutation is definitely not a simple genetic mutation. Could it be that the power of the Chaos Gods arrived on Terra long before I even knew it?
The more involved I am in the plot, the more it crumbles, and the worse things get. But am I destined to hide in a corner forever, waiting for the end to come?
Elpis picked up a spear from the weapon rack and began to brandish it, forcing himself to remain calm.
After an unknown amount of time, a voice interrupted Elpis's thoughts.
"You are not at peace, Elpis."
Elpis stopped waving and saw the Imperial Guard Marshal Constantine Waldo walking towards him.
"I'm a little confused." Elpis took a deep breath. "I don't know if I should interfere with what I already know."
"The one who tied the knot must untie it," Waldo paused, then said, "We have all been entrusted with a mission by His Majesty. Protecting His Majesty is my duty. As for you, you need to find the answer yourself."
"His Majesty wishes to see you." Waldo turned around. "It is said to be to reward you."
"Okay, I'll go right away." Elpis nodded, put away his weapons, and walked out of the training ground.
Elpis followed Waldo to the entrance of the Emperor's laboratory. Waldo gestured for Elpis to go inside, then turned and left.
Pushing open the door, one sees that the Emperor is not wearing his golden armor, but rather a simple white research coat, holding a data panel in one hand and making a famous hand gesture with the other, still wearing the golden laurel wreath on his head.
If one did not see it with their own eyes, no one would imagine that this emperor who unified Terra and controlled the fate of the entire Terra was conducting research in his laboratory like an ordinary researcher.
"Your Majesty," Elpis said softly, bowing his head slightly.
The Emperor did not answer Elpis's question. He quietly looked at the data panel in his hand and dealt with his work. He always seemed so confident, as if his mere presence could reassure anyone.
Elpis's initially agitated mood gradually calmed down.
"Elpis," the Emperor finally spoke, "everything in this universe has its own laws of operation. Understanding and mastering these laws is how we humans can survive in this world."
"But, Your Majesty. In the future..."
"That's not important," the Emperor interrupted Elpis. "Elpis, none of this matters. The future is not static; it is in our own hands."
"The mutation of the Thunder Warriors was not your fault. Some of them died—as humans—and that was the result of your efforts. Go and see the weapons I forged for you, Elpis."
The emperor then waved his hand, ordering Elpis to step down.
Elpis left the laboratory, closed the door, and was completely baffled. He didn't know what the Emperor meant by those words.
"Confused?" an aged voice sounded behind Elpis.
"The one who holds the seal." Elpis quickly turned around and greeted the old man behind him.
"Let's go see the weapon he made specifically for you." Macardo leaned on his scepter and walked away with a hunched back.
Elpis, following closely behind Macado, couldn't help but ask the question that had been bothering him, "Master of the Seals, what does His Majesty mean?"
"You know he's always busy, isn't he?" Macado smiled slightly and continued walking forward. "He thinks highly of you, and so do I. Fate is neither something you nor I can predict, nor something we can resist. We're all just ordinary people, Elpis. Go with the flow and do what you believe is right."
Elpis felt he wasn't a great sage. The Emperor and Macardo's words echoed in Elpis's mind. Had the Emperor always known about Chaos's conspiracy? Had he always known that half of the Primarchs had rebelled?
The thought of the dark and chaotic universe of the future filled Elpis with immense pressure.
A short while later, Elpis and Macado arrived at the armory, where a spear caught Elpis's attention.
It was a gigantic, silver-white spear, nearly three and a half meters long, engraved with mysterious patterns and symbols, standing out conspicuously among a pile of golden weapons. The spearhead was streamlined, incredibly sharp, and emitted a terrifyingly cold light. A small launching device was also mounted on one side of the spearhead.
"That was forged for you by the Emperor," Macado's voice rang out.
Elpis stepped forward, grasped the spear, and slowly raised it. Elpis could feel the immense power contained within the spear.
Carefully stroking the spear shaft, Elpis sensed an anti-gravity device embedded within, allowing him to better control the giant spear. As for the firing mechanism at the spearhead, Elpis felt it was an energy-emitting device.
"It can fire terrifying energy annihilation cannons, but you can't use them yet; you need to charge them with special energy," Makado explained from the side. "It's already bound to your genes, so you can control it as you wish. It also has a 'teleportation function,' which still requires special energy to use."
Elpis looked at the spear in front of him. With just a thought, he could activate the decomposition field on the high-energy power blade of the spearhead. This decomposition field could achieve molecular-level disintegration and could easily penetrate any armor in the material universe.
As for the teleportation function, being able to suddenly teleport in the middle of the battlefield would definitely be a surprise attack and a very useful feature. Elpis could sense that the energy was insufficient to activate its functions.
"What kind of energy does it need?" Elpis asked the one who held the seal. "Electricity, plasma, or psionic energy?"
The one who held the seal smiled knowingly, "None of these are true. You'll find out later."
"Does it have a name?" Elpis held the spear in his hand, feeling the magic of the weapon.
"Corresponding to the spear of the sun god, it can be called the spear of the moon god."
"The Spear of Luna?" Elpis murmured. "A truly perfect weapon."
