The Bizarre Adventure of the Warhammer Guard
Chapter 37 First Encounter
In the boundless wilderness of the planet, Elpis became one with his vehicle, streaking across the surface like a golden meteor. He made several breathtaking turns, drifts, and defied common sense by flying at low altitudes.
These amazing maneuvers are all thanks to advanced technology. Plasma engines emit blue-white light from the motorcycle's tail fin, providing powerful thrust; an anti-gravity device is built into the bottom of the motorcycle, allowing it to ignore terrain and roam freely across the planet.
The plasma engine, combined with the anti-gravity system, gives the Falcon motorcycle amazing speed and explosive power.
Moreover, thanks to Elpis's requirements and modifications, this motorcycle also possesses considerable firepower and defensive capabilities. A small plasma cannon is mounted on the central axis of the motorcycle, with a quadruple heavy bomb gun on each side, a missile launcher embedded in the rear, and a small shield generator built into the motorcycle itself.
These powerful features transform the Falcon-type hoverbike into a terrifying killing machine.
A dense array of information scrolled across Elpis's goggles, his loyal machine spirit constantly intercepting the messages being exchanged between the outside world. From this chaotic information, Elpis extracted what he needed.
The words Koprulu Sector, Terran Federation, Protoss, Zerg, and Human made Elpis certain that he had arrived in the StarCraft universe.
In this universe, the story primarily takes place among three races in the Koprulu Sector, who both attack and cooperate with each other, ultimately defeating the so-called Dark God Amon and protecting their universe.
In this universe exists a wondrous race—the Xel'Naga, said to be the protectors of this universe, the guardians of endless cycles of reincarnation, and the creators. Based on the memories still remaining in his mind, Elpis knows that the Zerg and the Protoss were created by the Xel'Naga for some purpose.
At this moment, having sorted through all his relevant memories, a strong premonition welled up in Elpis's heart, like a revelation. A faint, ethereal voice echoed around him; it seemed audible, but upon closer listening, the voice vanished.
Elpis carefully examined his body. The medical equipment built into his armor showed no abnormalities, and the oracle detected nothing unusual in the surrounding space. The power of the moon goddess enveloped his entire body; nothing seemed amiss, and everything around him appeared peaceful, as if everything that had just happened was an illusion.
The word "Ancient Saint" suddenly popped into Elpis's mind, as if it were a sudden inspiration, appearing out of nowhere.
The Old Ones are said to be the oldest race in the Warhammer universe. They are incredibly long-lived, possess astonishing levels of technology, and have extremely strong psionic talents.
Long before the birth of humankind, and even before the birth of humankind's home planet Terra, the Old Ones roamed the universe.
According to Elpis, the Ancient Ones perfectly combined technology and psychic power to create countless things beyond human imagination.
They created the Web, a safe and efficient means of movement in the warp, which was the Emperor's only hope of escaping the influence of the warp, but unfortunately it was ultimately destroyed by the foolish Magnus.
They also created countless species, including powerful races like the Eldar and the Ancient Orcs, all created by the Ancient Saints. Among them, the Ancient Orcs are the ancestors of today's green-skinned orcs.
Ultimately, they vanished from the galaxy in their war against the Fearful Ones and the Star Gods. Whether they were utterly annihilated or escaped beyond the galaxy, no one knows.
Now, the word that popped into Elpis's mind gave him some ideas. "Could there be some connection between the Xel'Naga and the Old Ones?" Elpis thought to himself, "That makes everything interesting."
Putting all his questions aside for the moment, Elpis needed to gather more information. Just then, his goggles showed someone driving a vehicle toward him.
"In that case, let's see who they are first," Elpis thought. He then stopped his motorcycle, looked at the surrounding scenery, and waited for the other person to arrive.
A moment later, dust billowed up and a vehicle appeared in Elpis's sight. It drifted and came to an abrupt stop next to Elpis, parallel to the Falcon motorcycle.
"Hey buddy," a teasing voice called out, "you've really done a great job modifying that motorcycle."
Elpis looked at the source of the voice, a tall, muscular man with a resolute but slightly weathered face, short black hair, and a short mustache. He wore a tight-fitting white T-shirt and a gray-black tactical vest, but the white T-shirt was stained a light tan by the dust. He wore jeans and military boots.
You can see that the man has many grenades and ammunition hanging on his waist and body, as well as a retro-styled revolver.
The vehicle he was riding was dark gray, with a rugged design, and appeared to be powered by two engines mounted on the rear wing, along with an anti-gravity device. However, it was far less technologically advanced than Elpis's motorcycle.
"My name is Jim Reynolds, and I'm the sheriff for this area," the man introduced himself, continuing, "Please show me your federal identification number; I need to ensure the safety of this area."
"You're Jim Reynolds?" Elpis, sitting on the motorcycle, took off his helmet and hung it on his waist, revealing his face. He looked Reynolds up and down. "We're here to assist you with your mission."
"What do you mean?" Renault looked warily at the tall, golden-armored man before him. Even though he could tell the man meant no harm, he was still quite nervous. "Who are you?"
Renault knew he wasn't a good person; he had been involved in gangs, murder, robbery, and other shady dealings since his youth.
He has already been through too much, and he shouldn't be so nervous when facing someone. Even when facing the Speaker of the Federal Parliament, he can still report to him with a smile.
The person before him was completely clad in thick golden armor, seated atop a chariot also painted in gold. The large-caliber weapons on the chariot gleamed coldly in the sunlight. Even seated, the man's immense size was evident; Renault had only ever seen such a stature in gangs of chaotic cities.
However, in modern warfare, a tall stature is completely useless. Apart from gaining a little more strength and thicker skin, it's basically a disadvantage. This kind of modification only provides a slight advantage in gang fights, but the cost is enough to purchase more weapons, making it a poor trade-off.
Therefore, apart from a few genetic modification fanatics, only they would perform such useless modifications on themselves, and these people always look crazy.
But the person in front of me was different. He put a lot of pressure on me, just like when I was nervous and scared when I committed manslaughter for the first time.
Thus, Renault stared intently at Elpis, his right hand slowly reaching for the revolver at his waist.
