Hell has invaded, but my Hextech is invincible!

Chapter 72 You are the chosen one, and the only one.

Chapter 72 You are the chosen one, and the only one (Bonus chapter on April 3rd)

Now, Hextech faces a very obvious question: is he Zhao Kuangyin or Liu Xie?

Is this whole thing orchestrated by the united front a case of him being forced to wear the imperial robe, or is it Dong Zhuo entering the capital and using him as a puppet?

Hextech's mind raced; this scene was completely unexpected.

He was neither in the dungeon nor in the underground laboratory.

He was in a large hall.

His first assessment was whether the United Front had the capability to threaten his life.

The answer is yes.

As the number one rebel organization on the European continent, the United Front possesses various cursed artifacts and relics, such as the unique enhancement properties of the Meta-Christ matrix, and they have many more in their bases around the world.

The game also features numerous instances of the United Front confronting demonic invasions head-on. The United Front couldn't possibly have only a few enhanced soldiers to hold the line; otherwise, how could they have survived for so long under the Church's siege?

Therefore, a direct assault is not advisable; the only option now is to outsmart the enemy.

He looked up at Aida, whose eyes held a complex yet respectful gaze, and at Benev, who stood silently to the side like a follower.

In front of the crowd stood a thin, white-haired old man.

The old man wore a monocle and leaned on an elegant walking stick, but he was dressed in an ill-fitting purple suit, making his demeanor appear particularly incongruous.

Hex raised an eyebrow slightly, recognizing the other party's identity at a glance.

Mondrian Jacquardt.

The supreme leader of the United Front, a major threat to the Church, and the number one most wanted criminal.

Of course, he was also a former Roman Catholic cardinal and the Church's number one traitor.

This character's background was foreshadowed in Chapter 8, but he didn't officially appear until Chapter 10, and he is shrouded in countless mysteries.

For example, why would this cardinal of the Papal States, who stands at the top of the human world and is second only to the Primarch of the Paladins and the Pope, rebel against the Church and join the United Front?

Hextech players tend to skip plot progressions and don't delve as deeply into characters as story-driven players, but the game community highly approves of this character's personality.

He is not simply a villain.

The old man bowed slightly, his voice a little hoarse: "Please allow me to introduce myself."

"I am Mondrian Jaglitter, Speaker of the United Front Parliament."

Hex didn't respond, but just stared at him intently.

He couldn't understand why Mondrian would suddenly appear in front of him.

"I know you have many questions," Mondrian said gently.

"Mr. Horus, I can answer all your questions."

Hextech turned to the crowd in the hall and asked, "Is it necessary to discuss private matters in front of so many people?"

Mondrian smiled calmly: "They are the most loyal backbone of the United Front."

"They are also the last resistance force protecting humanity."

"The United Front was founded on the principles of democracy and openness."

"There is nothing that cannot be made public. Our ideas and action plans can be discussed and made public in public."

The more than one hundred cadres in the hall did not utter a word; all of them stared at Mondrian with fervent eyes.

Hextech bluntly stated, "Then I'd like to ask the Speaker, what exactly is the purpose of dressing me up like this gaudy medieval statue?"

"This is not just a flashy decorative armor," Mondrian explained slowly.

"This armor is called the Imperial Holy Armor."

"Legend has it that it was personally crafted by Archangel Michael and is the ultimate armor forged specifically for the savior of mankind."

"Only the chosen savior is qualified to wear this armor, lead all mankind, sweep away the demons of the world, and reclaim the lost homeland."

Hextech's lips twitched slightly. It was the narrative style unique to Hell Invasion, blending the tragic tone of Warhammer and Trench Crusade themes with abstract fatalism.

Fate is predetermined, and so is the course of humanity. Humanity needs to rely on saints, knights, and the church for guidance.

Hex raised his wrist, looking at the silk wrapped around it, and said with a hint of mockery, "I'm the savior?"

"Do you choose your savior based on who can wear this armor?"

"That's fine."

"If the armor was forged by the archangel Michael to select the savior."

"It shouldn't be in the hands of the church, so why has it fallen into the hands of your united front?"

Mondrian smiled calmly: "Mr. Horus, it's understandable that you have doubts."

"You might even feel like we're deliberately deceiving you, but that's just the truth."

"Since 1096 AD, the Roman Catholic Church has selected dozens of candidates for the Holy Armor, who are potential saviors."

"Among them were saints, emperors, and commanders, but without exception, none of them were truly qualified to wear it."

Hextech's lips twitched. Only someone six meters tall could wear this armor; how could ordinary people who were only about two meters tall wear it?

Mondrian saw through Hextech's confusion and explained, "The armor is special."

"The limiting factor is not body shape, but qualifications."

"No one before you has ever been qualified."

Hextech frowned slightly: "Am I the only suitable candidate?"

"But to be honest, I don't see anything special about this armor!"

As he spoke, Hextech slowly stood up.

Unexpectedly, the magnificent silks wrapped around his armor did not bind him. Instead, they swirled and danced behind him like flowing clouds and blooming flowers as he rose, resembling fluttering banners.

He felt the imperial armor; it was neither heavy nor light, and he didn't experience any special sensation.

Checking my own status, there was no obvious attribute increase; armor and magic resistance only increased by ten points each.

Any piece of gear you randomly pick from a Yordle shop will have stats far superior to this so-called ultimate holy armor. Where is the ultimate in this?

Mondrian slowly began, "Since the Church acquired this armor, it has not discovered any difference between it and ordinary finely crafted battle armor."

"But it has a most unique quality—"

"Only a true savior who can save the world can gain its recognition."

"Throughout the centuries, those heroes, no matter how many achievements they made..."

"None of them can gain recognition."

Hex frowned: "Could the rumor be wrong?"

"Or is Heaven playing a cruel joke on you?"

If this were said in the church, those charlatans who have their minds filled with scriptures would definitely tear Hex apart.

Fortunately, everyone here is a rebel, and they didn't make a big fuss about Hextech's remarks.

Mondrian stated, "Three arguments gradually emerged within the Church."

"Firstly, a savior will descend someday in the future, and the armor will be his."

"But as time went on, fewer and fewer clergy members held this view."

Secondly, this was left behind by some church forefathers to inspire humanity.

"No one could possibly wear this armor."

"Most people hold this view."

"Thirdly, the fact that no one in a thousand years has been able to equip the Holy Armor means that humanity will eventually perish."

There is no savior in the world.

"Over the past two hundred years, this argument has gradually evolved into eschatology."

Mondrian spoke in a calm tone, as if he were recounting an ordinary little matter, completely unconcerned about how shocking his words were.

Hextech frowned slightly.

He could tell that Mondrian wasn't deliberately teasing or making fun of him; there really was such a thing.

"I once shared the same views as most of the bishops," Mondrian recounted.

"They believe this armor was just a joke played by their ancestors."

"But when I was working in the Roman Orthodox Church, I was in charge of disaster warnings and divination."

"By chance, I used a certain sacred relic to fulfill a prophecy."

"I have received divine revelation!" Mondrian's tone was slightly trembling.

"The savior will descend from heaven in 1911."

"After his arrival, he will accomplish a monumental feat, tearing apart despair!"

His gaze fell on Hextech with admiration and disbelief.

"You resolved the Gates of Hell incident in five hours!"

"Saved millions in Manchester!"

"You've accomplished something that so many saints couldn't!"

"So, you're the chosen one!"

"And the only one!"
