Hell has invaded, but my Hextech is invincible!
Chapter 5 Elevator God of War
Hex changed into a guard uniform, picked up a captured submachine gun, and pushed open the laboratory door.
The scenario he had envisioned—dozens of guns pointed at him simultaneously—did not materialize.
Outside the door was a dimly lit reinforced concrete corridor, with only a few dim light bulbs barely illuminating it.
Hex breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed the gunshots from the underground lab hadn't alerted anyone outside.
As long as he doesn't get exposed, he still has a chance to sneak out of this underground base.
He hugged the wall as he walked through the corridor and headed straight for the elevator at the end.
At the other end of the corridor was the incinerator. Hex looked through the small glass door and saw two boiler operators pushing a deformed, mutated corpse into the furnace. There was also a row of strangely shaped experimental subjects piled up against the wall.
Another researcher is examining the body.
According to the number 666.
There were at least 665 test subjects before Hextech.
Their fates were all the same.
They either die on the spot or are mutated and burned as garbage.
Two heavy metal doors blocked out the sound, and the people inside had no idea that someone had died in the laboratory a dozen meters away.
Hex turned around, went to the elevator, and pulled the elevator lever.
"Creak—"
The motor suddenly started making noise.
Hextech's heart leaped into his throat. He looked back, and thankfully, the people in the crematorium were still focused on dealing with the corpses and didn't glance in his direction.
"bite--"
The elevator doors slowly opened.
Just as Hextech was about to breathe a sigh of relief, his heart tightened again.
Inside the elevator, a bald, muscular man with a scarred face was leaning against the wall.
Two deep, bone-revealing scars, one horizontal and one vertical, were etched across his forehead like a cross, as if his skull had been brutally cleaved through. His open leather jacket was stretched taut by his muscles, and he exuded a ruthless, murderous aura.
Benev.
A descendant of the Russian principality, the supervisor of the United Front stationed at Frankenstein Laboratory, the head of the guard, and the final boss of this underground base.
In the original story, the protagonist escaped the underground laboratory thanks to the invasion of a large number of monsters, but during the escape, he was relentlessly pursued by Benev, who was like a tyrant in Resident Evil, with no way to escape his clutches, relentlessly pursuing him and creating a strong sense of oppression.
Moreover, along the way, the monsters that the protagonist painstakingly defeated by utilizing the terrain were torn apart by him with a mere flick of his wrist.
The protagonist escaped only after a demon appeared and ate Benev.
Hextech instinctively raised his gun, but then forcibly restrained himself.
He immediately lowered his head, adopting a respectful posture: "Commander Benev."
Benev slightly raised his eyelids, glanced at him, and spoke in a rough, deep voice.
"How's his experiment going?"
"The people from headquarters will be here shortly."
"Let him come up and greet me personally; I don't want to deal with that woman."
United Front Executive Officer?
That woman?
Hextech instantly thought of that classic character: a woman of Middle Eastern descent, a multifaceted spy, and hailed as the most dangerous female character in Hell's invasion.
Aida Al Thani.
Hextech's headache worsened, but he remained outwardly respectful: "The experiment has reached a crucial stage."
"The lord has ordered that no one should disturb them."
"Ha, that's not up to him." Benev sneered and was about to step out of the elevator.
Hex stepped forward to block their way: "The lord said no one is allowed to go in."
His tone was somewhat harsh. If Benev were to enter the laboratory and see the corpses scattered on the floor and the smashed secret room, Hex would definitely not be able to leave alive today.
Benev paused, his gaze fixed on Hex: "Anyone?"
"Including me?"
"Yes," Hex replied, forcing himself to speak.
Benev scoffed, his tone full of disdain: "Ridiculous!"
"It seems he's increasingly disregarding the United Front."
Upon hearing this, Hex felt that the person in front of him was not a person.
It was a ferocious beast.
His hair stood on end, and he almost instinctively rushed in to fight him without thinking.
Just then, a hissing sound suddenly came from the loudspeaker overhead.
"Commander Benev, Executive Officer Alsani has arrived at Lockdown Room Number One."
"Please come up here."
With those words, the menacing aura emanating from Benev vanished instantly.
"Never mind, scientists like this are a rare breed."
He didn't insist on going further inside, but instead stepped aside for the elevator: "Come in."
"Let's go up together."
Hex frowned slightly, but could only step into the elevator.
He really didn't want to be in a small space with this humanoid beast. It was like a player being locked in the same room with a tyrant. Even if the other party didn't make a move, the suffocating sense of oppression was enough to drive anyone crazy.
Even though he was nearly two meters tall and his physical body was enhanced to the extreme, he still felt short of breath when facing Benev.
This person possesses advanced bio-engineering technology from the United Front and has undergone experimental modifications by Frankenstein. In the story, he once smashed through a thick iron door with a single punch, demonstrating terrifying combat power.
As the elevator ascended, sensing the somewhat tense atmosphere, Benev spoke up to break the awkward silence.
"How's the experiment going?"
"Not ideal," Hex said.
"Hmph, the second-generation G-element is really having a difficult birth." Benev tapped the elevator wall impatiently.
"The patience of those at the top is almost worn out."
"No wonder the old man sent that dangerous woman, Ada, to investigate."
Hextech didn't know what to say. He wasn't a story-driven player; he was more of a walkthrough streamer. He would skip the story whenever possible, and he didn't really understand the intricacies of the United Front. The more he said, the more wrong he would get.
"By the way, I've never seen you before," Benev suddenly said, looking Hex up and down.
Which squad are you from?
Hex whispered, "Sir, I'm new here."
"A newcomer?" Benev's eyes turned strange.
"I personally interviewed every guard in this base."
"But I have absolutely no recollection of you."
"Whose side are you on?"
"Manchester Police? 8th Army Regiment? MI6?"
"Or the church?"
Hex remained silent, but his finger was quietly on the trigger.
"Aren't you going to talk or try to get information out of me?" Benev said calmly.
Hex remained silent, leaning against the elevator door.
"Which organization sent a rookie like you, full of flaws, here?" Benev shook his head.
"I can see at least three flaws in you at a glance."
"The biggest flaw is that your grip on the gun is incorrect."
He took a step forward, his presence exuding an oppressive aura: "And besides, you just fired a shot."
"The gun barrel still smelled of gunpowder."
Sure enough, this old fox saw through his trick back in the lab down there.
But Hextech didn't panic.
He looked up at Benev, his tone suddenly turning cold: "Commander Benev."
"This base is more complex than you imagine."
"The united front is not a monolithic entity either."
"For example, I belong to the faction of Lord Joseph Vladimir."
Joseph Vladimir, a veteran of the United Front's Russian Restoration faction.
He was also one of the few heroes in the United Front.
Benev, being from Eastern Europe, naturally knew of the existence of this legendary figure.
His body stiffened, and an expression of disbelief flashed in his eyes. He never expected to hear Joseph's real name from this guard.
"What are you talking about?" He moved closer to Hex without thinking.
Just then, Hextech suddenly pulled the trigger!
"Da da da—"
Bullets rained down like a storm.
Caught off guard, Benev, relying entirely on his animalistic instincts, abruptly raised his hand to shield his face.
The bullet pierced through flesh and blood, splattering crimson blood, and embedded itself in his forearm and shoulder, instantly tearing and blurring the skin and flesh.
In the blink of an eye, the magazine was empty. Just as Hextech was about to fumble for a reload, a huge iron fist slammed down in front of him with a powerful gust of wind.
Even after being hit by several bullets, Benev launched a fierce counterattack immediately.
"Bang!"
The punch landed squarely on Hex's chest, sending him flying backward as if he'd been hit by a car, crashing heavily into the elevator wall.
The heavy steel plate was dented by the impact, producing a piercing metallic twisting sound.
Hextech choked on his breath, a sharp pain shooting through his brain, and his vision blurred.
If it were an ordinary person, taking such a vicious punch would have already shattered their sternum and killed them through the chest.
However, the powerful physique of the Astral Body caused him to lose his senses only briefly. The next second, he endured the excruciating pain and kicked Benev hard.
In the cramped elevator, two burly men instantly became entangled in a fierce fight.
Fists flew in and out of the air, the dull thuds of fists and feet colliding echoing incessantly. The steel elevator walls were dented and battered, the entire elevator shook violently, and the cables creaked under the strain, as if they might fall vertically at any moment.
In just over ten seconds, Hextech was at a disadvantage.
Benev is a vicious thug who crawled out of mountains of corpses and seas of blood. His fighting skills are ruthless, and every move is aimed at vital points, with each strike potentially fatal.
Just an hour ago, Hextech was just an ordinary person who sat for long periods while livestreaming and suffered from a herniated disc.
Even though his physical strength had caught up with Benev's, his wild dog-style boxing, which involved random punches, was full of flaws in the face of professional and deadly combat techniques.
"Snap!"
Benev retaliated by locking Hex's right arm tightly with a vicious grappling technique, instantly sealing him in place.
A wave of excruciating pain washed over him; Hex felt as if his arm was about to be twisted off.
He gritted his teeth and unleashed all his brute strength, slamming Benev violently against the elevator wall.
With a thud.
Benev did not loosen his grip, a cruel grin curling at the corner of his mouth. "Not bad strength."
"It's been a long time since I've met someone who dares to go head-to-head with me."
"Unfortunately, your fighting skills are far from adequate. Who is your teacher?"
Before he could finish speaking, a heavy knee strike landed hard on Hex's left ribs.
A bone-crushing pain instantly swept through his body, forcing Hextech to let go, and a barrage of heavy punches followed.
He could only hold onto his head tightly and grit his teeth to endure it.
"Fight back! Give it your all!" Benev roared madly.
The more you talk, the more flaws you reveal.
Hex suddenly kicked out, grabbed the fist that the other man was swinging, and used all his strength to slam him against the elevator wall again, followed by a hard punch to Benev's temple.
This punch was thrown with hatred and full of force. Benev was also hit so hard that he felt dizzy and his vision went black, and his movements suddenly stopped.
Just then—
"bite--"
The elevator doors opened.
Hextech no longer wanted to get entangled with this mad tyrant.
He seized the opportunity and jumped out of the elevator.
Benev shook his heavy head and was about to take a step to chase after him when Hex turned around and kicked him hard in the chest, sending him flying back into the depths of the elevator.
"The game is over!" Benev stood up, leaning against the swaying wall, and reached for the pistol at his waist, only to find it empty.
Hex gave a cold laugh, and a pistol appeared in his hand.
It was something I had casually taken from Benev during the fight.
But he did not fire at Benev.
For people with such thick skin and monstrous vitality, pistol bullets simply cannot cause fatal wounds.
Instead of wasting bullets, we should just destroy the elevator and cut off his pursuit.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
Hex raised his hand and fired several shots at the elevator ceiling, then aimed at the load-bearing steel cable and decisively pulled the trigger.
"Bang!"
The steel cable snapped immediately.
The elevator suddenly lurched downwards, emitting a piercing metallic shriek, and plummeted rapidly towards the lowest underground level like a kite with a broken string.
Benev's furious roar, accompanied by the deafening crash of the elevator plummeting, was gradually swallowed up by the deep elevator shaft.
Hextech propped himself up on his knees, just about to breathe a sigh of relief.
Turning around, at the end of the passage, a dozen fully armed guards were already rushing towards them with submachine guns.
"Beep beep beep—!!!"
A sharp, piercing red alarm instantly resounded throughout the entire underground base.
Their whereabouts have been exposed.
