In the silent corridor, the sound of hurried footsteps suddenly shattered the deathly stillness.

Li Da ran frantically down the stairs, heading in the direction Ye Xuan had gone, but he couldn't find her anywhere. A sense of unease crept into his heart: "Where is she? Could something have happened to her?"

Thinking of this, he slowed his pace and tiptoed downstairs. His gaze swept over the blackened socket, but Ye Xuan was still nowhere to be seen, and his heart sank.

He walked along the corridor, his eyes quickly scanning the surroundings. Out of the corner of his eye, a half-open door suddenly came into view. Ye Xuan was frozen in the doorway, staring intently into the room, his expression shocked and filled with barely concealed terror.

"Um?"

Li Da's expression brightened, and he was about to speak when Ye Xuan seemed to sense something. He turned his head sharply, and a look of surprise flashed in his eyes as their eyes met.

The next second, his expression changed, and his lips moved very quickly, silently making a mouth shape.

Li Da understood the two words at a glance: "Go quickly."

He was startled, and before he could react, a sharp whooshing sound suddenly rang out.

In a flash, a figure wrapped in a blue and white striped hospital gown, like a tattered rag doll with its strings cut, hunched over, suddenly flew out of the room.

"boom--"

A dull thud struck the wall, causing the plaster to peel off in a rustling sound. The man's neck was bound with a thick hemp rope, and his limbs were twisted and bent at bizarre angles, clearly broken by human hands.

The moment the body hit the ground, the thick hemp rope suddenly taut, as if dragged by an invisible force, pulling the figure rapidly back into the depths of the shadows.

Li Da's pupils contracted sharply, his blood almost froze, and he suddenly heard the rustling sound of fabric rubbing together.

"Tap...tap..."

Heavy footsteps echoed in the deathly silent corridor. Then, a figure slowly emerged from the darkness, carrying a thick hemp rope. The other end of the rope was firmly tied around the neck of the twisted body, dragging it out.

Before Li Da could recover from his extreme terror, a familiar voice suddenly rang out: "Li Da, you're here?"

Li Da was stunned, his eyes widening in disbelief: "Brother Yuan?!"

"What are you doing here?" His surprise instantly dispelled most of his fear. His gaze fell on Xu Yuan's movements as he dragged the corpse, his tone hesitant, "What are you doing...?"

Xu Yuan glanced at the patient lying on the ground like a rag doll, then casually tossed him aside and explained, "Oh, this thing is pretty tough, so I hit him a little too hard."

"Did you go a little too far?"

Li Da stared in astonishment at the mangled body. He felt that Xu Yuan before him was somewhat different from the one he had known before.

"Wow!"

A gasp rang out, and Ye Xuan looked at the corpse that had just been thrown to his feet, his face turning green with fright.

"Hmm?" Xu Yuan glanced at him.

He turned his head stiffly, meeting Xu Yuan's calm gaze, and couldn't help but shudder. He then looked at Li Da, swallowed hard, and asked in a strange and fearful tone, "You two... know each other?"

"Xu Yuan, my roommate." Li Da snapped out of his daze, nodded quickly, and then looked at Xu Yuan, "This is Ye Xuan, a new friend of mine."

"He's your friend?" Xu Yuan looked at Ye Xuan in surprise. "I thought he wasn't quite right either, and I was about to give him a beating."

Ye Xuan was stunned, pointing at herself. "Huh?" "Am I not normal?"

"Of course," Xu Yuan said matter-of-factly. "This haunted house looks pretty dangerous, and you two are still sitting there watching short videos. Anyone would find that strange."

"Was I watching short videos?"

Ye Xuan was speechless for a moment, but dared not say more. In his heart, he was furiously cursing: "I'm not normal? You just broke someone's limbs without any expression and dragged them around like a toy. That's what's abnormal, isn't it?"

With a muffled thud, the hard floor trembled slightly as the patient's head was crushed into the ground, creating a deep dent.

The corpse twitched twice, then fell completely still. Xu Yuan calmly withdrew his foot, saying without changing his expression, "See, isn't this perfectly normal?"

Li Da stared at the large crater in the ground, his mind went blank, and he was completely stunned.

"Holy crap?! This is a human?!" Ye Xuan froze on the spot, mentally screaming, "They're not even acting anymore, and this is normal? What's normal about it?"

"Alright." Xu Yuan took a step forward. "I'll go upstairs and take a look first. You two should hurry up and go."

Li Da finally recovered from his shock. He finally understood why that burly, naked man had been so polite to him at the karaoke bar.

However, after witnessing Xu Yuan's terrifying power, he felt much more at ease and stopped trying to persuade him. He quickly nodded and said, "Brother Yuan, please be careful."

"Um."

Xu Yuan waved his hand and turned to walk deeper into the corridor.

Watching his retreating figure, Li Da hesitated for a moment, then couldn't help but call out, "Brother Yuan! There's an uncle up there who helped me once before. If you can, please tell him thank you for me!"

"Uncle? No problem."

Xu Yuan gave a brief reply, and without stopping, his figure quickly disappeared into the shadows of the corridor.

A figure in a gray coat sat alone atop a small wooden hill, gently stroking a round head with his palm in an eerily tender gesture.

The man suddenly raised his head, as if sensing an unfamiliar presence. He slowly turned his face, revealing a terrifying lower half of his face that looked as if it had been scorched by fire. His bloodshot eyes stared unblinkingly at Xu Yuan.

"Snap—"

His five fingers suddenly tightened, crushing the head in his hand. The fragments rolled to the corner of the wall. He slowly got up, stepped down from the pile of wooden limbs, and stood in front of Xu Yuan.

I've never seen you before.

He leaned slightly closer to Xu Yuan, his face tinged with unexpected surprise, and slowly extended his hand, his fingertips rough and stiff, asking hopefully, "Are you here to make friends with me?"
