Misell walked out of the bakery with a happy look on her face, munching on a cake while carrying a wooden bowl containing five pieces of cake.

"I can make this too. I estimate it will only cost a few dozen copper coins," Rhodes said to Messil. He had been wanting to say this in the bakery, but before he could even open his mouth, Messil had already bought so much.

"You're probably seeing this kind of food for the first time today, just like me. Even if you know the ingredients, you definitely can't make it as good as what she sells. She's a professional," Misell mumbled as she ate her cake.

"I'll show you tonight." Rod decided to prove his abilities with facts.

"Okay, then I'll wait for you to do it." Misell clearly still didn't believe Rhodes's words.

As a young person of the new era, making cakes is a piece of cake for Rod. Before he transmigrated, he had baked cakes at home in a rice cooker. There are detailed tutorials online. At first, his cakes were not very delicious. After several attempts, he finally made a cake that even he thought was delicious.

"Then let's go buy some ingredients, and when we get back we can borrow the tavern's kitchen to bake you a cake," Rod said.

He took Messiah to a nearby grocery store and bought some honey, milk, eggs, and fine flour, spending only a few silver coins in total. Since there was no sugar for sale, Rhode had to choose honey as a substitute. However, he had heard that the Kingdom of Fish had sugarcane, so Rhode decided to buy some sugarcane to make sugar when he participated in the tournament in Gulfstream City.

It seems that selling cakes in the Kingdom of Nord is incredibly profitable these days!

"Would you like a fruit-flavored cake? Like lemon?" Rod asked.

"A cake can taste different? Are you kidding me? And the lemons aren't even ripe yet," Misell said.

Previously, lemons could be bought in supermarkets all year round. Rhodes got used to it and forgot that there are no greenhouses in this world.

"Then let's have the original flavor," Rod said.

Seeing that selling cakes could generate such huge profits, Rod felt that he had found another way to get rich.

By the time Rod returned to the tavern where Baron had been, the sun was almost setting.

"Can you still eat?" Rhodes asked Messiah, who was standing next to him.

"You're not just making excuses because you can't do it, are you?" Misell asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I see you've eaten so much, you definitely can't eat anymore. I can make it for you tomorrow morning, and this kind of food is easy to gain weight from," Rod said.

"Okay, you can make it tomorrow. But won't the milk be stale by tomorrow?" Misell said.

"I'll get up early tomorrow morning to buy some fresh ones; we can save this for tonight," Rod said after a moment's hesitation.

There was no black tea, and no sugar. Otherwise, milk would be a good choice for milk tea. If Misell thinks this kind of cake is delicious, she definitely can't resist the temptation of milk tea.

After asking the tavern owner for the room details, Misell took the milk and went back to her room on the second floor to rest alone.

"You haven't eaten yet? I think the lamb chops here are pretty good, you can try them," Baron said after seeing Rod sit down next to him.

"Then let's eat this. You've been sitting here drinking all afternoon?" Rod asked curiously.

"Where else would we go? It would be nice to chat with other people in a tavern and broaden our horizons." Baron picked up his glass and took another sip.

There's so little entertainment in this world, not even playing cards. Maybe I can make a few decks sometime.

So many things have to wait until later; I'll be really busy later.

After quickly finishing the roasted lamb chops served by the tavern waitress, Rod discussed borrowing the kitchen with the tavern owner, who hesitated for a moment before agreeing.

Back in his room, Rod first practiced the Divine Illumination Technique for half the night, and then focused on maintaining his energy to recover.

The next morning, just as the rooster crowed, he ended his meditation practice and prepared to go shopping.

He got out of bed, stretched his body which was a little stiff after sitting cross-legged in meditation all night, washed up quickly, and then pushed open the door and went out.

I ran into Messiah in the corridor.

"Why are you up so early?" Rod asked curiously.

"You promised me yesterday that you would make a cake, and I was worried you weren't awake yet, so I was going to go and wake you," Messil explained.

"I can go by myself. You should go back to your room and get some more sleep," Rod said.

Messil shook her head.

"I wasn't sleepy. I meditated all night, and meditation is even more effective at restoring energy than sleeping."

"Alright then," Rod could only agree.

The two of them easily found the grocery store where they had bought their things the day before. After buying some fresh milk, they returned to the tavern.

The tavern owner must have spoken to the chefs in the kitchen yesterday, because the chefs didn't stop Rod and his companion when they entered the kitchen.

Cakes were invented in the Middle Ages and became popular among the nobility. It's a mystery why the progress of civilization in this world has been so slow.

Making the cake is very simple: mix egg yolks, flour, and milk together, then add sugar. Since sugar doesn't exist in this world yet, Rod chooses to use honey instead.

Then pour it into a clean, large frying pan, spread it evenly, cover it, and heat it over low heat for a while.

"It smells so good." Misell swallowed.

"It's not done yet, wait a little longer," Rhodes said after estimating the time.

The flour he bought wasn't fine enough, so to make the cake taste better, Rod spent a long time sifting it through a sieve to select the best pieces.

This is Rod's first time baking a cake using traditional kitchen utensils; he wonders how it will taste.

"It should be ready now." Rod opened the lid, and the kitchen was instantly filled with the sweet aroma of cake.

"What smells so good?" the tavern chef asked curiously.

"Honey cake," Misell replied.

Rod took the cake out of the pan and put it in a wooden bowl, then simply washed the pan.

"Let's go back to our room to eat," Rod said.

The tavern chef was about to ask for some more, but before he could speak, Rhodes had already led Messiah upstairs.

"Can we eat now?" Rhodes asked Misell after leading her back to his room.

"You eat first, I'll go check if Baron and the others are awake, and let them have some too," Rod said.

Messil was somewhat displeased, but finally nodded.

After Rhodes left the room, Misell picked up the clean knife she had taken from the kitchen, cut a piece of the fragrant cake, and put it in her mouth.

It tastes even better than the one I bought yesterday!

After Rod returned to his room, he saw that only half of a large bowl of cake remained and began to speak.

"Baron and the others haven't woken up yet. If you're hungry, you can eat it all by yourself. I'll make some more for them when they wake up."

"Make some more for me later too," Messil mumbled.

Rod looked at her with admiration.

Misell blushed slightly, feeling a little embarrassed by Rhodes's gaze, and said, "It's not that I think this isn't enough; I was planning to take it to the ship to eat."
