Chapter 112 Activating Plan B, do we have another Plan B?

Birch Slope, the Burton family's cottage.

"Okay, stop walking back and forth! I'm getting so annoyed!"

Alastor sat in a chair, his hands pulling at his collar to cover his mouth.

Giselle paced anxiously back and forth in the room, her emotions fluctuating wildly due to Lyndon's complete loss of contact with them.

Originally, the stone bridge's defenses were breached because the viscount had sent men into the Dark Oak Forest.

According to the original plan, Alastor should have already met up with Lyndon, who had infiltrated the area, and together they would have gone to find the Dream Moth.

As a result, Alastor was attacked as soon as he entered the Dark Oak Forest.

After barely dodging it, Alastor encountered another strange cloud of purple smoke.

He almost lost his life there.

In the end, having failed in his mission, Alastor had no choice but to flee Dark Oak Forest with his men in a panic.

To make matters worse, they clashed with the guards on their way out, resulting in bloodshed.

Fortunately, Alastor and his hired henchmen were all agile, so no one was caught.

The guards couldn't find anything on them either.

But this series of misfortunes left Alastor in a terrible mood.

"Lydon is a smart man, he'll be fine."

Alastor spoke to himself and to Giselle.

Giselle, however, did not believe Alastor's explanation. Her eyes reddened as she muttered, "But we can't contact him at all now. Heaven knows what happened to him. Perhaps Mr. Lynn is still suffering somewhere—"

"Philip, look, there's another little shrimp here!"

Beside the creek, Cecilia rolled up her sleeves and scooped up a handful of clear water to wash the grime off her face.

Over the past few days, Lyndon and Cecilia have been thoroughly exhausted and disheveled.

Finally spotting a stream, the two decided to stop and rest.

A small shrimp was swimming in the water that Cecilia scooped up.

The little shrimp bounced back and forth in Cecilia's hands, its soft tail brushing against her palm, making her feel ticklish.

Cecilia picked up a small shrimp and brought it close to Lyndon's face.

At that moment, Linden was looking at his reflection in the stream.

When he turned his head, he saw Cecilia approaching him with a small shrimp in her hand.

Lyndon smiled slightly, dipped his fingertip in water, and flicked it onto Cecilia's face.

"Fine! You dare scare me!"

The two of them were playing and splashing around in the stream.

When they got tired of playing, the two sat blankly on the shore, and a sense of emptiness arose spontaneously.

Cecilia's fingers gently traced the surface of the water. She turned her head to the side, her eyes lowered, and asked, "Where are we going next?"

'

“A safe house,” Lyndon said calmly. “I need to explain the situation to my companions.”

"You have companions?" Cecilia asked.

"Hmm." Lyndon nodded, then after a long silence, turned to Cecilia. "Actually, my name isn't Philip."

.

"I guessed it," Cecilia said seriously. "Actually, when I saw that you wanted to kill Ryder, I had already prepared for the worst."

"What is that?"

"Everything I saw, knew, and heard was fake."

Lyndon looked like a cat that had done something wrong, hugging his legs and burying his face in his knees.

He stared silently at the gently flowing stream.

"So what's your real name?"

"Lyndon," Lyndon's voice came from his throat, "Lyndon Copperfield, I come from the Fog City."

Cecilia raised her beautiful eyebrows upon hearing this: "You're from the capital? That's great. I've never been to Fog City before. I've heard it's a wonderful city."

Lyndon smiled.

"What are you laughing at? Isn't that right?" Cecilia asked, puzzled.

"If you are a rich person, a person with a decent life, then Wudu is a beautiful city. But if you are just an ordinary person, then Wudu is a cold, impersonal steel city."

Lyndon suddenly reached out and clenched his fist tightly, as if he had grasped something important from thin air.

"I live in the old town of Chongqing and do the dirtiest and most dangerous jobs. My biggest wish is to rent a small house in the new town so that I can see a clean garden every time I open the window."

"But whenever I stand on a gray street and look up at the sky, do you know what I see?"

'

"What did you see?" Cecilia asked.

"I didn't see anything." Linden loosened his clenched fist, his eyes now so empty and devoid of light. "There's nothing in the sky, just hazy clouds. Maybe there are birds occasionally, but it's like standing on a high-rise looking down at the street. No matter who walks by—maybe a father, a factory worker, a company boss, maybe they just saved someone from drowning—to you standing on that building, none of it matters. They're just passing by, insignificant people."

Lyndon pointed to his chest, then to Cecilia: "We are insignificant to the city, to the kingdom."

Cecilia stared blankly at Lyndon, suddenly sensing an inexplicable gloom about him.

He seemed to have a sense of rejection towards many things, like a wandering soul in a cemetery, just looking for a place to rest.

Cecilia shifted her position and moved to Lyndon's side. She took his hand and looked at him, saying slowly and deliberately, "At least you're not insignificant now, are you?"

Lyndon chuckled as he looked at Cecilia, then looked away and stood up.

"Alright, we've rested enough, it's time to continue our journey."

With that, he turned and walked along the stream.

Cecilia followed behind him.

The two walked side by side for a long time, and finally they climbed over a dirt slope and saw the stone hut nestled next to an oak tree.

Warm light shone from the windows of the cottage.

Lyndon stopped and whispered to Cecilia, "This is it."

He stepped forward and knocked on the wooden door.

However, this scared the people inside half to death.

Almost instinctively, Alastor leaned against the wall and pointed his pistol at the doorway.

He then gestured for Giselle to open the door.

Giselle had no choice but to comply.

When the door opened and Lyndon stood in the doorway, both Alastor and Giselle wore relaxed expressions.

"Mr. Lynn!"

Giselle excitedly rushed into Lyndon's arms.

She clung tightly to Lyndon's neck, sobbing uncontrollably.

Lyndon gently stroked her back.

The two hugged at the door for a long time.

"It seems you're not so insignificant after all."

Cecilia bent over, smiling as she watched the two embracing.

It was then that Giselle noticed that there were other people standing behind Lyndon.

She blushed, quickly let go of his hand, and stepped aside.

"Who is this?"

Giselle pointed at Cecilia; she had never seen such a beautiful woman before.

So how did she meet Lyndon?

As Giselle pondered this, she couldn't help but touch the scar on her face.

"Looks like a lot has happened in the woods." Alastor put away his gun and looked Lyndon up and down, observing his dirty clothes and disheveled appearance.

"It's more complicated than we expected," Lyndon said briefly. "Perhaps we need to activate Plan B."

"Plan B? I didn't know we had Plan B," Alastor said.

"Of course we have them, I just didn't tell you," Lyndon said with a smile, patting Alastor on the shoulder. "Plan B is... we need to find more outside help!"

"Has anyone been chosen yet?"

“Of course,” Lyndon nodded. “The first to be affected is Viscount William of the Sutcliffe family.”
