Chapter 108 Misunderstandings and Arguments, A Sudden Attack

"Speaking of which, does any of you know this guy?"

"I don't know him. He doesn't look like a Veltlinian, and he doesn't even look like a Mishima."

Cecilia sat there, watching them gather around and talk about the corpse on the ground.

Her thoughts were all on Lyndon, who had just left.

"Hey! Where has Philip been?"

Cecilia looked up in the direction Lyndon had gone, then glanced at the others. Seeing that their attention was focused on the corpse, Cecilia secretly followed after him.

At first, she could barely make out the direction, but the tall oak trees looked so similar, and the light in the forest was dim, that Cecilia lost her bearings for a moment.

She stood at the bend in the forest, looking blankly at the path around her, unsure of which way to go.

"Alright, Cecilia, let's go this way."

Cecilia closed her eyes and randomly pointed in a direction.

But just as she was about to head that way, a commotion suddenly broke out in the completely opposite direction.

Cecilia stopped in her tracks and looked in that direction with a puzzled expression.

She hesitated for a moment, then decided to turn around and walk in that direction.

After passing several towering ancient trees, Cecilia heard a man's scream coming from ahead.

Cecilia recognized Ryder's voice.

She didn't know why Ryder was making such a piercing scream, and the scream terrified her.

So Cecilia tiptoed and quietly walked behind an ancient tree, peeking out half her head.

Then they saw that Ryder had grown four arms.

One of the hands looked as if it had been severed by something sharp.

Ryder fell backward to the ground. He tried to get up, but as soon as he propped himself up, four more spears shot out, pinning Ryder firmly to the ground!

"Aaaaaah!"

Ryder arched his back and let out a heart-wrenching roar from his throat, a sound as if he were shouting out his own soul.

"Who are you? What kind of monster are you?!"

Ryder looked up in fear at the "monster" that was closing in on him.

Following Ryder's gaze, Cecilia finally saw the true face of the "monster".

When Cecilia saw what the "monster" looked like, she covered her mouth, her eyes widened, and a voice seemed to be shouting in her heart, telling her to forget everything that had just happened and turn away.

But Cecilia's legs felt like they were nailed to the ground; her body was stiff as she watched Lyndon, covered in blood and grime, approach Ryder step by step with a sharp spear in his hand.

Just as Lyndon was about to pierce Ryder's chest with his spear, Cecilia noticed the Howell rifle lying on the ground.

So Cecilia did something incredibly risky: she ran out from behind the tree, picked up the gun, and pointed it at Lyndon.

Lyndon seemed to have heard the sound. He stopped his spear from thrusting down and turned to look behind him.

Lyndon was stunned when he saw that it was Cecilia.

He had been full of menacing a moment ago, but now all that remained was the embarrassment and awkwardness of being discovered.

Lyndon stood on Ryder's chest, unsure whether to put away the spear or keep it raised.

After some struggle, he put away the spear and then forced what he thought was his most amiable smile as he approached Cecilia.

"I told you, you just need to wait for me where you are," Lyndon said, wiping the blood from his face with his sleeve. "Actually, Ryder and I just had a little misunderstanding, which led to a minor conflict. Really, I can explain—"

"Don't move!" Cecilia suddenly shouted at Lyndon.

Lyndon froze on the spot after being yelled at by her.

"Cecilia—" Lyndon wanted to explain himself, but Cecilia didn't believe him at all.

Cecilia, her hands trembling, held the gun high. Her eyes were red as she looked at Lyndon and said, "Do you think I'm stupid? That I'd believe whatever you say? That I'd ignore the spear in your hand?"

"No, I never thought of it that way—" Lyndon said in a low voice.

"Why have you become like this, Philip! I thought you were a kind and honest pastor! But look at yourself now! You look like a killer! A gangster!"

Cecilia's gun trembled violently, and tears streamed down her beautiful face.

She pointed to her heart and cried, "I treated you like family, I considered you as important as my brother Herbert, but I never imagined it was all a lie! A lie!"

Lyndon looked at Cecilia's red, tear-filled eyes, and at that moment he didn't know what to say.

He could only stand there, silently watching Cecilia's vulnerable state.

Suddenly! Just as the two were facing each other, a sharp whistle suddenly rang out in the previously silent forest.

As a gust of wind blew by, a thick purple mist suddenly filled the forest.

Several black figures appeared like ghosts in the smoke.

Lyndon immediately sensed something was wrong. He recalled the spear that was pinned to Ryder and then shot it at the dark figure in the smoke.

The two dark figures were unable to dodge in time and were pinned to the tree by the spear that Lyndon threw.

Seeing this, the others quickly hid themselves in the smoke.

Lyndon's retaliation angered the people in the smoke.

A loud shout came from the fog, and then several stone spikes the size of an arm flew out of the fog.

"Get down!"

Lyndon tackled Cecilia in an instant, the stone spikes grazing their backs and striking several oak trees.

Even the tall, sturdy oak trees were snapped in half by the force of the stone spikes.

The towering tree canopy fell into the forest, startling a flock of birds and stirring up clouds of dust.

The sunlight finally shone into this ancient forest.

But this also completely exposed Lyndon and Cecilia's location.

Lyndon knew they would be surrounded soon, so they had to run.

It wasn't because he had beaten those guys before, but because Lyndon didn't know what the purple smoke behind him was.

After all, the pink spores of Hemophiliac were already giving Lyndon a headache, and who knew what those purple fumes were?

Lyndon was unwilling to risk his life.

He pulled Cecilia up, bent over, and ran desperately in one direction.

"Hey! Take me with you! Don't leave me here!"

Ryder lay in a pool of blood, roaring in the direction the two had fled.

Lyndon hesitated for a moment, but Cecilia said, "We're in deep trouble right now. If we go back to save others, we won't be able to, and we might even get ourselves killed."

Although Cecilia is known far and wide for her kind heart, she is not some brainless fool.

Although Lyndon had kept things from Cecilia, which made her very angry, he hadn't actually caused her any harm. So, in the face of this crisis, she could still tell what was more important.

So the two abandoned Ryder and fled for their lives.

However, the people behind them didn't seem to want them to escape so easily.

No matter where Lyndon and Cecilia ran, the purple smoke behind them relentlessly pursued them.

"Whoosh whoosh whoosh!"

Finally, in their panic, the two ran to the edge of a cliff, where they could see a raging, fast-flowing river below.

"There's no way out."

Lyndon had planned to escape in another direction with Cecilia, but unexpectedly, a thick vine, like a sneaky snake, darted out from the purple mist.

"Be careful!"

Upon seeing this, Cecilia turned around abruptly and shielded Lyndon from the attack of the vine.

As a result, the two lost their footing and fell off the cliff, and the rushing river swept them away without a trace in the blink of an eye.

In the banquet hall of the Wiltling Municipal Building.

"Sir, please stop eating, the commissioner will be here soon."

Seeing the strange looks from the officials and gentry around him, Barkley whispered a plea to Viscount William, who was standing in front of the pastry table, to stop.

But Viscount William ignored him and even stuffed a piece of pastry into Barkley's mouth.

"Okay, now we're the same."

Viscount William said cheerfully after swallowing the crumbs of biscuit in his mouth.

After taking a bite of the pastry, Barkley exclaimed, "It's delicious!"

Upon hearing this, Viscount William proudly said, "That's right! Don't you even know how much money I donated for this welcoming ceremony?"

""

As he spoke, Viscount William picked up another biscuit and put it in his mouth.

"I donated so much money, what's wrong with having a little something to eat? If it's not enough, I'll pay for a new batch!"

Just then, the banquet hall doors were suddenly pushed open by security, and a man in military uniform walked in. He straightened his back and announced, "His Excellency Michael Milan, Director of the Financial Inspectorate of the Interior Ministry of the Three Islands United Kingdom, His Majesty's Special Inspector in Wiltling, and son of the Earl of Milan, Yorkshire, has arrived!"
