The endless ruins, eroded by wind and sand year after year, have cast a gray-yellow filter over everything.

Only a 30-story office building stands alone in the middle of the ruins, its structure riddled with cracks, its walls peeling and crumbling, half of the tower hidden in the pervasive gray-yellow smog.

This is the heart of the Night Watch camp, and the last refuge for the survivors in the vicinity.

However, the shelter had now become a living hell.

At the entrance of the camp, several abandoned cars and trucks were parked crookedly on the roadside, their wheels long since flattened and their bodies half-buried by sand and dust, leaving only blurry outlines.

Around the vehicle, dozens of men dressed in tattered robes, holding rusty steel pipes, machetes, and even a few modified crossbows, watched the surrounding smog with wary expressions.

They were the outer guards of the Ash Earth camp and the advance team for this raid.

"When do you think Stone will be back from capturing those guys who escaped from the night watch camp?"

An obese man leaned against an abandoned truck, holding a piece of dark, mutated beast meat in one hand, taking big bites and mumbling incoherently.

Oil dripped from the corner of his mouth, staining his worn-out robes, but he didn't care at all. He glanced at his companion beside him and said with a hint of jealousy.

"I saw it clearly. There were several pretty girls in that group. This is a good deal for Stone. Maybe he can have some fun first and then take them back to camp."

A tall, thin subordinate immediately stepped forward, flattering him with a fawning expression.

"Brother Shen is right! But Shi Tou and his gang are only fit for this kind of work of capturing runaway slaves. Unlike Brother Shen, who guards this night watch camp for the boss, he's much more prestigious than them!"

After saying that, he would occasionally glance at the interior of the camp behind him, his eyes full of envy and a hint of barely perceptible jealousy.

The camp was no longer in order.

Amidst the ruins, the people of the Ash Earth Camp, like bandits, wantonly rummaged through all usable supplies. Any survivors of the Night Watch Camp who dared to resist were killed on the spot, their blood staining the rubble beneath their feet, and their corpses were carelessly discarded in the corners.

Every now and then, ragged survivors would be dragged past, their faces filled with despair and fear, pleading desperately.

On the 30th floor of the dilapidated high-rise building in the center of the night watch camp, two figures stood quietly on the open-air balcony, looking down at the chaos in the camp below.

One of the frail-looking young men pushed up his worn-out glasses and frowned as he looked down at the scene of rampant violence and looting.

"I'm afraid they can't keep this up, can they?"

A fierce and tall man beside him gently patted the frail young man's shoulder with his arm covered in hideous scars, a cruel smile curling at the corner of his mouth.

"Master Huo, you're still too soft-hearted. The Night Watch Camp is just a level two camp, yet they dare to disobey our boss's orders."

We did this to let other camps know that if they dared not hand over source crystals, this would be their fate.

To be reduced to slavery is the best possible fate for them.

After a pause, the tall man added, "Don't forget, only by seizing all the resources of the Night Watch camp can we strengthen our own power and help our boss gain more influence within the Ash Earth camp."

The frail-looking young man sighed softly, his gaze falling on a group of people in tight-fitting clothes below.

These people are the core members of the raiding squad of the Ash Earth Camp, and they are methodically collecting source crystals from the survivors of the Night Watch Camp.

Anyone who refused to hand over the goods was executed on the spot with their throat slit.

The frail-looking young man said in a complicated tone, "It's not that I'm soft-hearted, it's just that I feel this is too extreme. Besides, the Night Watch camp doesn't have many source crystals to begin with, so even if we confiscate them all, it might not help the boss much."

As the two were talking, a muffled beating sound and suppressed groans came from the rooftop behind them.

Three muscular men surrounded a middle-aged man covered in blood on the floor, punching and kicking him repeatedly.

The middle-aged man was covered in wounds, his clothes were soaked in blood, and his forehead was sunken, but he still gritted his teeth and remained silent.

"Still won't you tell me?"

One of the burly men stopped punching, stared at the middle-aged man with a sinister look, and kicked the middle-aged man's right knee hard.

With a crisp "crack," the kneecap shattered.

"Where exactly are you hiding the Source Crystals in your night watch camp? Don't force us to actually take action!"

This middle-aged man was Mo Zhiyu, the president of the Night Watch Camp.

He struggled to lift his head, a mouthful of blood spilling from the corner of his mouth. His eyes burned like fire as he coldly stared at the three burly men before him, his gaze filled with nothing but deep-seated hatred, devoid of any fear.

Source Crystal is the last hope of the Night Watch camp, and their capital to fight against mutated beasts and resist plunder by other camps. Even if he dies, he will never tell anyone.

"Still being stubborn!"

A ruthless glint flashed in the eyes of the other burly man as he twirled the dagger in his hand, its cold light gleaming.

With a "splat," Mo Zhiyu's ear was severed, and blood gushed out instantly, staining the floor red.

The burly man who had attacked was still not satisfied. He stomped heavily on Mo Zhiyu's wound with his right foot, grinding it down so that blood would flow freely. "Let's see if you'll talk or not!"

The three burly men took turns torturing Mo Zhiyu, whose body was no longer human, covered in blood and barely breathing, yet he still did not loosen his grip, nor did he utter a single beg for mercy.

The three burly men, panting heavily, looked at Mo Zhiyu, who still refused to give in, and sighed helplessly before turning to look at the two men on the balcony.

The burly man at the head of the group bowed to the frail-looking young man and said in a helpless tone.

"Master Huo, we've done our best, but Mo Zhiyu is too stubborn. We just can't get anything out of him. We'll have to ask you for help."

The frail young man, known as "Master Huo," slowly turned around, his gaze falling on the dying Mo Zhiyu on the floor, his tone indifferent.

"President Mo, why bother? Do you really think that the dozen or so people who escaped can escape the pursuit of our Ash Earth Camp?"

They're just clinging to life; it won't be long before we catch them and they'll suffer the same fate.

Master Huo slowly walked forward to Mo Zhiyu, only to find him still keeping his mouth tightly shut and refusing to answer.

With a gentle flick of his toe, Huo Ye used an invisible force to lift Mo Zhiyu's body half an inch off the floor, then lightly kicked him.

"boom--"

A dull thud rang out as Mo Zhiyu's body slammed into the rooftop wall three hundred meters away like a cannonball.

At the same moment, with a loud "boom," a horizontal, human-shaped gap was smashed through the wall, sending debris flying everywhere.

Everyone thought Mo Zhiyu would fall, but unexpectedly, in the next instant, Master Huo's figure suddenly disappeared into thin air, and he flew down from the sky like a ghost.

Just before Mo Zhiyu was about to fall to the ground, Master Huo reached out and lifted him up, then flashed back onto the rooftop.
