In America, my cousin, Supergirl Kara...

Chapter 40: The Jinchūriki Rails

Li Xiao plopped down on the sofa. After Corinna brought him back, she refused to leave, saying it was too dangerous for a woman to drive home alone in the middle of the night. Li Xiao suggested that she could sleep on the sofa or squeeze in with her cousin, and then Corinna took over his bed.

He could only sleep on the sofa tonight. The sound of running water coming from upstairs was her washing up.

Li Xiao rubbed his eyes. There were still 22 hours until his mental energy recovered, and the sluggish feeling in his mind made him a little sleepy.

Just as I was about to put the sofas together, I heard a noise from Kara's room, and in the blink of an eye, the door opened.

It looks like I'll have to go out again tonight. Li Xiao stopped what he was doing, checked the time, and it matched perfectly. He had figured out when Kara would leave in the past few days—around 2 a.m., but he hadn't figured out how often. Just like the day before yesterday, nothing happened.

Just as Li Xiao had predicted, the sound of shoes tapping on the floor came from inside the house. When he looked again, Kara was already standing outside the door dressed in a Superman costume and wearing brass-toed leather boots.

Upon seeing Li Xiao, her eyes lit up, and she quickly walked over: "Karl, were you waiting for me?"

"Yes, cousin, I have a feeling something will happen tonight."

"That's wonderful! As expected of my brother, your passion hasn't faded." Kara smiled sweetly, preparing to pull him out the door together. Then, as if noticing something, her delicate brows furrowed slightly. "Hmm? Wait, what's with this hellish smell?"

Kara's gaze was fixed on Li Xiao's room as she prepared to go upstairs. "My super sense of smell tells me that a demon has infiltrated our base!"

Damn, how can you smell that?

Cold sweat broke out on Li Xiao's forehead. He flashed to Kara's side and said, "No, cousin, I brought this person back. Well, how should I put it, she's a kind devil, she doesn't have any intention of harming anyone."

"Really?" Kara looked at it suspiciously for a few moments. Just then, Corinna's voice came from upstairs: "Little White Mink, do you have any spare underwear I can borrow? It's covered in blood, I can't wear it anymore. Oh, and I also need a hairdryer, can you find one for me?"

Corinna, wrapped in a bath towel, stepped out of the stairwell and saw Kara dressed in a tight-fitting outfit. Her lips parted slightly, "Oh my god, Supergirl!"

"Hmph, and a succubus at that. Karl, are you sure she's not an evil demon?"

"I swear on my Kryptonian honor, she's absolutely fine!"

"A succubus? Are you talking about me?"

Corinna pointed at herself, dumbfounded; in the blink of an eye, her race had changed.

"I trust you, Karl. As a Kryptonian, I have no prejudice against any race. I certainly didn't smell any corrosive odor on her."

Kara gently pushed Li Xiao aside, stepped forward, and extended her hand: "I am Kara El, a Kryptonian."

Corinna mumbled her name in the wind, glancing sideways at Li Xiao as if asking what was going on.

Just as Li Xiao was about to explain, Kara turned around and strode towards the door. "Karl, I heard it. Tonight, a train is heading from Metropolis to Los Angeles, but the tracks ahead have broken. I have to go and rescue it."

"Are you going to lay the tracks in advance?" Li Xiao asked tentatively.

"No." Kara turned around, her expression solemn and dignified. "It's not just a section of the track that's broken; the entire roadbed has collapsed." She paused, a glint in her eyes. "I'm going to fly to the middle of the collapse and use my body as a makeshift track so the train can run over me."

Li Xiao opened his mouth, and just then a voice suddenly rang in his mind.

[Supergirl Kara has issued a mission: She is going to save an oncoming train. She is determined to use her own body as a support frame. Please follow her and complete the mission of holding up the train tracks.]

[Reward: Constitution x2]

Well, Li Xiao sighed. He hoped this train wasn't a real steel behemoth; otherwise, he'd drag Kara away even if it meant failing the mission.

Li Xiao followed her away, and as he reached the door, he looked at Corinna and said, "Get some rest, we'll be back soon."

Kara led Li Xiao through a maze of turns, and he looked around suspiciously. It was clearly a park, and he couldn't see any train moving at all.

"Look, right there, the foundation has collapsed!" Kara suddenly darted onto a lawn, and Li Xiao quickly followed.

As he approached, he pointed hesitantly to a pit more than a meter long in the ground and asked, "Is this the collapsed foundation?"

"Yes, the train is coming soon." Kara said, and then made a move to lie down, but Li Xiao grabbed her: "Cousin, let me do the work on the tracks this time."

"But Karl, you don't have a body of steel, you can't handle this," Kara gently persuaded, stroking Li Xiao's head. "I understand that our little hero wants to help others, so leave this to your older sister. You can watch from the side."

Li Xiao immediately lay down on the ground, pressing down the grass pit completely. "It's okay, cousin. My current physical strength is enough to do it. After all, I went to Huangtaiyang four times not long ago."

"Is that so?" Kara nodded thoughtfully, then squatted down with some concern. "Karl, tell me quickly if you can't take it anymore."

"Okay," Li Xiao nodded, but his mind was blank. He had thought he was going to the amusement park to be a cushion for the toy trains, but there didn't seem to be any cars in the park.

"Here I am, Karl. Don't make a sound," Kara whispered, walking up to Li Xiao and lying down with her chest pressed against the ground.

Li Xiao remained motionless, breathing slowly and quietly like a hibernating bear.

A dozen minutes later, just as he began to drift off into daydreams, a squeaking sound characteristic of rodents rang out around him, accompanied by a faint stench.

He turned his head at the sound and saw a female shrew, no bigger than a finger, darting toward him, followed by a small shrew biting his tail.

The shrew crawled to the sole of Li Xiao's shoe, sniffed it with its long, narrow nose, and then climbed onto Li Xiao's shoe without hesitation.

Hoping it wouldn't crawl into his trouser leg, Li Xiao unconsciously clenched his fingers. Even Superman would scream in agony if he got bitten in that spot, let alone someone as flesh and blood as him.

Fortunately, the shrew only paused briefly at the seam of the trousers before continuing to crawl straight forward along the fabric.

Shrews are subterranean creatures with extremely poor eyesight, almost unable to distinguish objects, and can only rely on their sense of smell to find their way.

Li Xiao felt extremely awkward; it was the first time in his life he had ever run out to be a human support for a shrew.

It climbed onto Li Xiao's back, paused again, and kept sniffing around.

After determining that there was no danger, it climbed off Li Xiao's shoulder and quickly climbed onto Kara's thigh. Kara's body could be seen trembling slightly, and goosebumps rose on her thigh.

After all, she was naked with her legs bare tonight, and it was inevitable that the thing would create a strange sensation as it crawled on her flesh.

Oh, and she was wearing a skirt!

Kara's legs were pressed together, and you could see that her two full breasts were squeezed together, forming a fleshy crease in the middle.

Just as Li Xiao was considering whether to reach out and move the string of tiny creatures aside, the shrews had already climbed up Kara's skirt, and the string of tiny creatures quickly disappeared on Kara's head.
