Chapter 73 Agreement
"Little one, do you know why I brought you to my divine kingdom?"
Ron didn't speak, he just kept panting, and sat down on the ground in a sorry state, looking at the woman who exuded a noble aura not far away: Don't let me catch you, or next time you'll be the one kneeling on the ground.
The goddess noticed the flash of ferocity on his face but didn't seem to care.
This guy needs some training.
"Little guy, don't play dumb with me. Before you came to my divine kingdom, several other guys like you have already visited, so relax."
"??? Someone else came before me? Who was so unlucky?"
The first half of the sentence left Ron with no desire to hear it, but the second half inexplicably touched him.
Do you know why I brought you here?
Ron's expression shifted slightly as he listened to the Moon Goddess's question, but he remained silent. He felt that he was at her mercy and should listen to what she had to say first.
"It's okay if you don't say anything, just listen carefully."
"Actually, I noticed you the moment you were born into this world."
"And your companions, you should thank them. If it weren't for those guys, you might be a corpse by now."
"Those guys offended me, and I've already fed them to my puppies. If you don't want to become dog food, be smart, understand?"
Upon hearing this, Ron was visibly shaken.
He didn't really care about the guys who were fed to the dogs. Since they came here, they must have been prepared to die. Although this way of dying was somewhat dishonorable, it was still the same.
But looking at the woman across from him, shrouded in shadow:
From what she said, it seemed that she still had a chance to live?
"I know where you come from, and I know how powerful the forces behind you are, so I don't want to be your enemy."
"You mean you want me to mediate? To persuade you gentlemen to give up your claim to this world?"
The woman looked at Ron with a strange expression, her tone tinged with disbelief: "Where do you get the confidence to mediate between us?"
Ron fell silent. Although what the other person said was harsh, it was undeniable that they were absolutely right.
He was just a lowly apprentice; he simply couldn't possibly have that ability.
He was just trying to see if he could fool the woman in front of him, but unfortunately, she's not stupid.
"Alright, that's not what I want you to do."
"I'm not that presumptuous, or rather, none of those guys even thought they could save the world. I alone can't do anything about it."
"So, I want to get to your world through you, at least to survive first."
This time, it was Ron's turn to look at the woman opposite him with a strange expression.
"You don't need to look at me like that. If you were in our shoes, I believe you would have made the same choice as us, wouldn't you?"
"Also, if you dare to keep looking, I'm not sure if I'll feed your eyes to the dogs."
Upon hearing this, Ron immediately withdrew his scrutinizing gaze and replied in a serious tone:
"Great Goddess, what would you like me to do for you? Or rather, what can I do for you?"
The moon goddess stroked her long, smooth hair, as black as night, and said in a calm tone, "I want to become your vassal, so that at least after the world is destroyed, you can help me survive."
Ron kept thinking about the truthfulness of the other person's words.
A fully-fledged wizard, or even a powerful being just one step away from advancing to the second circle, becoming his vassal? It just doesn't seem like the most incredible thing to do.
"Don't worry about it, everything I said is true."
"Furthermore, we can sign a contract, and then you will see my sincerity."
"My Goddess, may I ask you a question?"
Selene nodded slightly, indicating that he could do as he pleased. Seeing this, Ron no longer hesitated: "Why must you choose me? And how can you be so sure that I can definitely help you?"
The woman chuckled softly twice.
The voice was as if imbued with some kind of witchcraft, captivating and mesmerizing, making one want to delve deeper into it.
"You people came into our world just for a test, didn't you?"
"Anyone who can achieve excellent results in the assessment can become a disciple of a powerful being."
"You are the most promising person I have ever seen to achieve this goal. When the time comes, as long as you can become the winner and become a disciple of a powerful being, I believe that the other party will be able to grant your small wish to help an indigenous person survive."
Ron nodded, indicating that he understood.
His eyes flickered as he looked at the goddess shrouded in shadow, and he spoke again: "Then, Your Majesty, how can you be so sure that I will win?"
The woman paused slightly as she stroked her hair.
He chuckled a few more times: "Hehehe, you don't need to worry about that. My envoy will help you, and I can also lend you something. With it and your own strength, I believe it won't be difficult for you to achieve good results among these people."
"Then thank you very much, Goddess."
"Can I leave now?"
"Um."
As soon as the woman finished speaking, Ron found that the darkness in front of him had disappeared, and the familiar street reappeared before his eyes.
Everything seemed unchanged, except that the two guys from before had disappeared.
He didn't think about where the two people went, just like he hadn't asked the Moon Goddess before: who the messenger was, and what could help him. Some things are better left unsaid.
"That annoying smart kid."
As Ron's figure disappeared into the alley, a whisper came from somewhere, then vanished without a trace.
The Tower of the Red Moon, the Tower of the Salin Wizard.
"Teacher, has my junior made a deal with that so-called Moon Goddess?"
Fiona looked at her teacher with curiosity and asked, her tone still showing some lingering fear of what had happened and concern for the boy.
Salin stared at the screen without saying a word, seemingly acquiescing.
Meanwhile, the other wizards in the academy, who were also watching the assessment, silently stared at the boy and woman appearing on the screen, and moved the projection screen that was originally placed in the far corner to the same center position as those guys.
They all wanted to see what the person on the screen was up to and what they would do.
As for that person, whether it was Ron, the moon goddess, or both, no one knows.
