Chapter 216 Familiarity (Part 3)

From Ron's perspective, he couldn't see what the two people in front of him were doing, but he could roughly guess the situation.

Swano stood in front of Ron, his gaze fixed intently on the old man who had just come out of the room.

The other person was currently gripping a staff wrapped in vines tightly in their hand. The gems that were originally unsightly on it were now emitting a ghastly green light, which shone brightly in the quiet alleyway, mirroring the two paper lanterns hanging at the entrance.

"Swano, didn't you want me to help you take care of that little guy behind you? Why are you blocking this old man's way now? If you've changed your mind, there's no need to stand outside my room. Leave while I'm still in a good mood, or I can't guarantee what I might do later."

The old man's cold eyes were fixed on Swano's eyes. On the surface, the two seemed to have some similarities in temperament.

The same gloom, the same aura that keeps strangers away.

Unlike the old man, Swano's demeanor was more like a disguise, or self-protection. In front of those who really knew him, the young man always had that cheerful look.

The old man's gloomy and chilling aura was almost tangible. No matter who he was facing, he always maintained that eerie smile, and the light in his eyes always sent chills down people's spines.

"Mr. Slytherin, I'm not here to argue with you. Like I said before, I hope that after I leave, you can take care of my junior schoolmate to the best of your ability."

Swano stared directly into the old man's cold eyes without fear.

It seemed that there was nothing in the world that he was afraid of, and Ron, listening to their conversation, also sensed that something was off in the atmosphere.

If they were acquaintances, the situation would never be so tense.

There was definitely some kind of relationship between the two that Ron was unaware of. For a moment, Ron couldn't understand why his senior insisted on having that old man take care of him.

The opponent should be able to sense my strength; at least in this small town of Eddinger, I am definitely not weak.

So why did the young man insist on dragging him here to visit this old man who looked like he was not to be trifled with?

"Swano, are you really sure? Old man, I did promise you before that I would help you complete three things. You know, I never make promises lightly to others. I have already completed two things for you before. If you use up this opportunity, it will be difficult for you to come here to find me in the future."

Upon hearing this, Ron was even more surprised:

She didn't even mention why her cheap senior insisted on dragging her here.

They had only known each other for a day, and the old man's aura was definitely not weak. If he used the old man's favor well, it might be able to help him a lot. But he had no relationship with this senior, Swano, so why did the old man insist on giving him this benefit?

In other words, why is the other person so insistent on taking care of you in this kind of situation?

Ron was momentarily confused. Just as he was pondering this, Swano spoke up: "I'm certain, Mr. Slytherin. You should know my character; at least on these matters, I will never go back on my word. Likewise, I expect you to fulfill your promises to me as before."

The two men were talking at length, which made Ron shake his head.

Just as he was about to speak and refuse his senior's kindness—after all, sometimes such inexplicable kindness was really unsettling—he had been in this world for so long, and apart from his seniors Fiona and Adele who had taken care of him because of some special relationship, even Seridwin, with whom he had been intimate, only had special feelings for him out of some need for benefit.

Ron didn't think he possessed that kind of aura that made people instantly subservient to him, or that wherever he went, people would offer him favors.

Judging from his appearance, this senior student is definitely not the kind of fool.

When it comes to matters of interest, things should be clearly distinguished.

But now the other party is arguing with the old man in front of him for his sake. He is not sure what the relationship between the two is, and why the senior would go to such lengths.

"Could it be that he was ordered by my cheap teacher?"

Ron suddenly had this thought, but he quickly shook his head and dismissed it.

After all, if the other party had truly accepted orders from the wizard Latour, they would never have had any doubts about my arrival yesterday.

"Alright then, as you wish, I agree. I hope you won't regret it later. But I have to tell you beforehand that our agreement is to help the kid behind you to the best of my ability. If anything goes wrong and endangers myself, I will absolutely not risk my life to help that kid. You know that, right?"

"Of course, Mr. Slytherin, I understand and agree with it. As a wizard, it's natural to have such thoughts and actions. Otherwise, I would worry that you, sir, have some special feelings for my junior."

With the matter settled, Swano no longer wore the same tense expression as before. A faint smile appeared on his lips, and he then made a joke to the old man named Slytherin in front of him.

After saying that, he took a step in the direction where he had been standing, moving his body away from Ron.

His action immediately revealed the boy who had been hiding behind him.

The moment the old man named Slytherin saw Ron, a glint flashed in his cold eyes, and he uttered a strange sound: "Oh, your junior is quite something~ So young yet so strong. I wonder what those old fogies at the Red Moon Tower were thinking? Sending such a kid to this godforsaken place like the Karatov Mountains. Oh, and you too. If it weren't for the old headmaster supporting your Red Moon Tower, it would probably have been wiped out in the annals of Vlandia's history long ago."
